What Happens at the Beach Club... Travels with Teens, Take Two, (PTR) 4/6 p. 29

Dee - you busy lady. Thanks for the update. So nice your extra visit with Teena and pictures of the lounge.

The temporary lounge...I should ask when the renovations should be done, but I won't. ;)

Such a great room location. Love that easy walk to Epcot.

Rebecca

:lmao::rotfl:

Thanks for the sneak peek at the presidential suite :) . Most likely the only time I will ever see it lol
Love that you got to see a bride and manage to snap a pic of her.
The photo of you and Teena radiates happiness and friendship :)
Your dedication to research for the faq board knows no bounds and for that I thank you :)

Looks like a great suite, even just the parts I saw. I would stay there if given the opportunity! Maybe on my next stay, if I can't book Cindy's Suite in the MK Castle.

:rotfl2:

Oh wait, next trip is All Star Movies with the 7 Dwarfs. I mean 145 teens! :scared1:

I was trying not to look like a stalker taking the picture!

I don't really have many pictures of Teena and me- I love this one.

Yup- I am dedicated to the FAQ. Have tape measure, will travel!

:lmao:

Love the paparazzi shot! I'm trying hard to figure out how soon I can return to the YC/BC.

Soon I hope!!!

Glad you had a great stay and have become a convert.

:thumbsup2

That really was a super busy day- I still have the afternoon at EPCOT, pool time with you and your mom, the meet and the dinner.

But that's the way I roll!

:rotfl:

I loved the room-I'm so glad that's where we ended up!

The temporary lounge...I should ask when the renovations should be done, but I won't. ;)

Well... I believe the renovated lounge will be opening this week, but I haven't heard anything yet.

:listen:

Hi, Dee! Definitely need to come back and check this out! You know much I adore the Beach Club and I really want to hear about your solo adventure!

I dislike posting from my phone, my post from yesterday disappeared :( sorry Dee. I love the picture of you and Teena, its like DISboard Beach Club Royalty :) great that you could sneak and snap some lounge pics, and a paparazzi bridal shot.

Now to find out what we aren't telling Ben ;)

Nothing better than a bride sighting! Thank you Dee! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Oh that presidential suite is so amazing. I am curious - do you have any idea how often it is actually occupied? And how often do people get upgraded to that suite? It just looks SO amazing!

:wave2: Tina!

:welcome:

So good to see you here!

I hope you do get a chance to follow along. I have lots of pictures of the Beach Club posted already.

SoLo is SoFun!

UGH! Hate it when that happens! I am not very good at using my phone and it bothers me that I have a phone that is smarter than I am.

;)

I love that picture of Teena and me together. We once went through the hierarchy of the Beach Club and decided that Teena is the Queen of the Beach Club, her granddaughter Lily is the Princess and I am more like the Prime Minister.

~Ninja Mom of course is the :joker:

:rotfl2:

I should be able to post a new update today or tomorrow to relieve your suspense.

:)

I have another one taken from the beach in Waikiki, but since it is going to take me FOREVER to get there on my other report- here you go!

That is a fascinating question about the Presidential Suite. I do know when a friend of mine tried to book the PS at the Yacht Club as soon as booking was available, she wasn't able to do it because it was already reserved!

I suspect it is booked a fair amount of the time. I have read of 3-4 instances of upgrades to PS in the 5 years I have been involved with the BC FAQ thread and a few to the VPS- although I think that suite only sleeps 2 or 3, so that limits the groups who can stay there.

:thumbsup2

Love that you've got a new thing to obsess over - taking paparazzi bride photos. Come on, dig through your files. I'm sure you can find another picture or two to add to this category.

The Presidential Lounge, how lovely. Thanks for the photos.

And some great research on the timing of the walk. 5 minutes to Epcot. Nice.

Yup, I've got more- plenty of bride pix from Mexico.

Here's a two-fer

This was not entirely a pleasure trip. I was "working"

:rotfl2:

18 hours after arriving in the Disney bubble (and 12 trip report updates later), I am finally entering a theme park!

The week before the trip, I scheduled the following Fast Passes for today.

EPCOT- Monday Aug 18
Characters 12:20 to 1:20
Test Track 1:25 to 2:25
Maelstrom 2:25 to 3:15

It was sometime around noon when I got to EPCOT. As I was walking towards the World Showcase countries, I saw there was a Photopass photographer stationed near the bridge overlooking France. I love this view, so I stopped for a couple of pictures.

I don’t have my PP pictures yet, so this picture is from my camera

Just after I left there, I heard someone call out “Dee?”

It was Nettie (YCFan) and her son Andrew. She was here for the meet, but I hadn’t seen her yet. She was heading back to the resort, so we chatted for a little bit and then continued on to our previous destinations.

And, because if you don’t have a picture, it didn’t happen:

I walked through England

Is it true that you can’t call the phone booths anymore?

I decided to use my big-girl camera for a little side trip to Canada:

I arrived in Future World. Of course, you have to take a picture of the monorail when it goes by!

Another Photopass photographer- No, I’m really not vain, but I love the idea of being able to pose for pictures without enduring complaints from my travelling companions! And it is nice to have a few pictures of me in Disney, since I am usually behind the camera.

I still had some time before I needed to be at the Character Spot for my first FP.

I’ll let you know what I did next, as long as you can keep a secret…

One of my family’s favorite attractions in EPCOT is Spaceship Earth. If you followed my last trip report from July 2013, you know that we will go to great lengths to ride this (even if we are a teeny-tiny bit late for a dining reservation). Because we stay at the Beach Club, we are usually able to make it to EPCOT almost every day of our trip. And a ride on SE is usually part of that visit. On our EMH day last year, the second to last day we were at Disney, we never made it onto Spaceship Earth. Ben wanted to, but we couldn’t fit it in that morning, so I promised we would be back later that day or the following day (our last) to ride.

Well, we never did make it back and Ben often reminds me that I broke his promise.

So, I am not sure he would appreciate learning that was the first attraction I enjoyed on this solo trip.

Shhhh….Don’t tell Ben!!!

Cruddy Dark Ride Photos:

For my future photo, I rolled my hands into fists and put them on my head for mouse ears.

Ben- just 9 more months and we will ride this on your class trip. I promise!!!

Aww yeah, I love that PP spot as well. Such a lovely background.

Darn, I was going to try calling the phone booths too so I could have confirmed that. But... long distance and all...

Where is this "Canada" you speak of? :scratchin

No worries Dee. I'm sure everyone will keep your SE secret. And besides, you're just keeping tradition alive. :thumbsup2

Well played! When I asked for a picture OR two, I didn't expect you to come up with a picture WITH two. :thumbsup2

You are a pro when it comes to delivering a LONG trip report with updates on every detail. There are few out there who are skilled enough at writing and entertaining to pull together an update for every 90 minutes of their trip. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your pictures from Canada. Other than a quick breeze through the gift shop, we never spend any time in Canada (at Epcot) so it is nice to have your pictures to capture some of the beauty.

I think you were smart to take advantage of the photographers on this trip. I too have very few pictures of myself at WDW since I'm the one with the camera. Getting other family members to take pictures usually just results in everyone becoming slightly grumpy.

And the thought of you putting your fists on top of your head so you have mickey ears makes me smile. :rotfl:

Now I have pictures in this spot on the bridge of just me, of Mark and me together and a family pose with my boys making faces.

I haven't tried the phone number lately, it was such a fun thing to do!

Sorry, I forgot that you are a citizen of the new, improved country of Canadia.

I will deny, deny, deny riding SE if Ben asks. It's not like there is photographic evidence or anything

:rolleyes1

Well played! When I asked for a picture OR two, I didn't expect you to come up with a picture WITH two. :thumbsup2

Glad I could surprise you with that!

:)

Thanks! I am going to take your comment as a compliment since you said it was entertaining and not a dig that I am dredging up every last detail of the trip. But I have to say, I have had some pretty good material to pull from so far.

The only time I have the opportunity to spend a sufficient amount of time in any of the countries is when I am solo.

Please tell me you have been to see the O Canada movie with Martin Short!

It was nice being able to get some pictures taken. I have to say, though, Mark has gotten into the habit of asking once in awhile if I want him to take my picture.

The mouse ear fists put a smile on my face too!

:goodvibes

Most definitely a compliment! :)

And no, we haven't seen O Canada with Martin Short. :confused3 We did see the Canadian movie back in 2004 but that was just before they updated it with the Martin Short version. I guess we will have to book another trip to WDW so we can see the Martin Short version.

This last update really made me smile this morning :goodvibes
From the 2fer bridal picture to the secret ride whose name shall not be spoken of (just in case Ben doesn't see the photographic evidence :lmao:) but mostly the Mickey Ears fists :rotfl: Totally doing that the next chance I get :thumbsup2
Love reading all the details of your trips Dee. As Janet says you are a very talented writer and it really does bring the trip alive for us all.
Janet you definitely have to go see the O'Canada movie with Martin Short -it's very witty and well worth a visit (even if you only go once) :thumbsup2
Every time I see a photo of you in your team shirt Dee I'm left wondering if other park guests were reading it and somewhat in awe that you were a member of an Olympic Team :rotfl2: If they only knew!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Yes, you need to book another trip just for that! The O Canada movie is my favorite of the WS movies. France is nice, too, because you can sit down, but the O Canada is the best!

:thumbsup2

So glad to bring a smile to your face.

All I could think of when I took the picture of the brides was that they both must have been saying "What does she think SHE is doing during MY sunset moment?"

The fist ears came out well. I don't have a fantastic picture, but you can kind of see it.

I only had one person comment about the team shirt- it is a couple of updates away, but I got a high-five from a CM.

:cheer2:

What a great tr! Subscribed! I don't know how I stayed away so long, but I'm glad to be back. Great sunset photos, btw. They make me want to go there now!!!

The promises broken to our kids...yep I may have done that once or twice :duck: Don't worry Dee, your secret is safe...;) (hope he doesn't DIS-surf :badpc:) LOVE the fists Mickey ears on SE

Those pics from Canada are :worship:

And a double bride-arazzi shot on the beach! Strong work:thumbsup2

So good to have you back!!! Hope that we get to see some pictures from your upcoming trip.

Thanks- I was fortunate to be in the right place in the right time to see the Yacht Club in the beautiful colors of the sunset.

:goodvibes

Dee - I love the "ears" on Spaceship Earth. So creative!

Rebecca

I loved being able to be a little silly with nobody there to judge me!

:thumbsup2

I was sad that we didn't get that final ride on SE that we promised to Ben on our last trip, but we were so hot and exhausted, it wasn't possible. :(

I thought the ears came out pretty well. It amused me, so what more can one ask for?

That spot in Canada is so very pretty!

::yes::
