What don't you like about WDW? (no flames please!)

You can get a free cup of icewater at any counter service restaurant at WDW.

Anne

too much time waiting in lines for that little cup. the refillable mugs are 32oz. and I can put a strap on them to carry through the park. WDW doesn't exactly advertise the free little cups either.

Universal's website encourages guests to bring bottled water into the parks. it's little things like that make a difference to us.

I always bring drinks into the park (too expensive to buy there) and I've never ran into a problem.

I never said there was a problem. but we travel light - no bags, no coolers. the only thing I take into the parks is a camera and a refillable mug.

Having just gotten back from the World yesterday, here's my list:

1. Filthy restrooms, not just one here or there but 90% of the ones I went in were gross.
2. Allowing a huge stroller in a monorail car AFTER it's been filled with many people standing! A guy literally shoved one on pushing my DS and me right into some other standing people. Then he proceeded to run over the feet of two people sitting there. Very rude. CMs should have caught this and made the guy with the stroller wait for the next monorail!
3. I agree with the one poster who said how CMs make you move from a prime seating spot (like at the car show at MGM) to allow 100 late people to get the better seating and that's just in one row!!
4. The fact that many many people smoke on that Food court corner across from TOT at MGM. It really does something to one's appetite having to walk thru all that smoke to get to the food counters. :o
5. I know Disney is a business but I don't understand all their cost cutting measures but yet they charge out the nose for almost EVERYthing.
6. Their busses. We do a rental now which cost more but is so much easier.
7. I can't stand the Stitch recording on the way to MK. Very annoying.

I could probably think of more but that's enough for now. I'm tired from fighting crowds for a week.

This is surprising to me. Our last trip has been within the past year, and we've never experienced this. Is this something new within the past year or have I happened to catch them on good days?

I totally agree with some of the posts here. Two stick out in my mind. The perks for frequent visitors...Yeah!

Not enforcing the designated smoking area thing. But I have good news(no, not a Geico joke), a cast member at the jungle cruise actually told a lady to go to a smoking area! We walked up to her after we got off the boat and commended her. Kudos...it's about time.

Okay, sort of a fastpass line for parking. Those who have annual passes should go in a special lane, like the buses.

Hey, I am so happy when I go to the parks, I let lots of things go, that is why we all go there, isn't it? I instantly relax.

A bit peaved by no breaks for the higher end hotel prices. Even for Florida residents, there are none. Just two years ago, AKL used to be a bargain for Florida residents...$109 a night!!!!! Seems like such history now.

My biggest peeve is the ridiculous caste system known as their "resorts.. deluxe vs value" and the mentality that adding 1 to 2 hundred dollars for "concierge" is acceptable... :furious:

Nowhere on earth is a 10yo considered an adult but in Orlando...

Crowds, princesses and parades, three things that give me the heebies AND the jeebies that seem to show up no matter WHAT I do!

Not enough thrill rides, sorry Space Mountain and RnRC are NOT my idea of fun! I'm not a "Small World" kinda girl...

I had no idea that Stitch was now a staple! I couldn't stand that movie or that stupid character and am now glad I don't go anymore!
:wave2:

Not enough healthy food (although it's getting better). Also related, there's not much unique dining. We can eat at similar restaurants at home for cheaper--and it would be better quality. Boma seemed to be the exception. Akershus used to be, before it went half-buffet and was princessified. I'm not a character meal person.

The bathrooms used to be pristine in early trips, but over the years upkeep has gone downhill.

You can tell which rides are the older ones because they don't all have shops stuck integrated into the exits.

The hotels need more perks.

The giant Mickey hand on Spaceship Earth and the sorcerer's hat in MGM need to go NOW.

Princesses everywhere. I'm all for great female role models for young girls, but honestly! It's not all about princesses!

I agree with those who say the merchandise is the same in most of the parks. It wasn't always that way.

I miss the old Epcot logos based on the circles.

The "tip for today" on TV was much better than that terminally perky chick doing the top 7. (At least the English-speaking chick. The one doing the Spanish version seemed sane.)

One thing I have to disagree with is the Stich invasion. On our trip, I saw Mickey and Minnie doing meet-and-greets three different times at the entrance and by the Main Street flagpole. Other than the "Stitch Kingdom" on the monorail (which we didn't ride much as we were staying at POFQ) and the Stitch attraction in Tomorrowland (which we skipped), I didn't see or hear much of him. :confused3

It was surprising to me, too as I was there in November and wouldn't have said anything bad about the bathrooms. Not sure what the problem was this past week! :confused3

Even one of my sons said something one day which REALLY shocked me that he would notice!!! :rotfl:

What a great thread!
Here's some of mine:
1. People who think that their stroller is their own personal ramming device. They push their way through crowds with them. I've almost been knocked over by some a couple of times.

oh WOW this is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves....yes strollers are great when your kids are whining and hot and tired, ands I understand they are necissary, but some, not ALL *covering myself* but SOME people go NUTS with them, I have gotten my heels clipped ssssooo many times by a crazed parent trying to get their kids in teh dumbo line ahead of Joe Blow's kids and I mean is it REALLY necessary? strollers do not come with a special liscense to push other people out of the way! gggaaahhh!!!!

....I'm ok now... hehe :teeth:

1. People who let their kids run wild/climb on stuff/throw tantrums/plates (happened to me in Alfredo's--if you're saying the kid needs a nap, take it to the hotel, don't stop and eat!)
2. Lack of enforcement of nonsmoking rooms (what's the point of getting a non-smoking room if the guy next door smokes on the moderate patio all day?)

While we're on the subject of strollers, I can't figure out why Disney doesn't have a special car on the trams for these HUGE strollers. How many times have you had to practically sit on someone's lap because a guest had a stroller the size of a Mini Cooper in the row you were sitting on???????

Disney should put a stroller car in the back of the tram and make people fold these things up and put them away..out of everyone's way. :rolleyes1

DL has them, but I doubt with the amount of trams WDW uses it's going to happen anytime soon.

We recently stayed at ALK at a AAA "bargain" rate of $250/night. Ouch! It was a one-time only treat as we were without the kids for two whole nights. I swear that Disney is jacking up these prices such that it drives more people into their Vacation Club. Makes you wonder.

Resort television is terrible. Disney is an entertainment company, why can't they have more choices, like TBS, TNT, HBO, HGTV?

I don't like that WDW took away Mr. Toad... I miss the little Green Guy!!!

Oh, easy. Because you may be inclined to spend a bit of time in your room watching something on TV instead of being out of the room spending money.

AK needs a good sit down restaurant. I want to know that I have a seat before I get my meal and I don't like having my DH or kids save a table while I wait in line. It's unfair to the others who also want/need a table.

The Deluxe hotels really need to pick up on their amenities. I don't like the value resorts because they are crowded (in both humans and cramped room/bathroom space.) They also need to designate buses to one Deluxe resort only. I'm not getting much more for the big money I spend. It should be a perk that I don't have to tour the other resorts just to get to a park. :(

At WDW:
- no busses between DTD and parks: very inconvenient
- That you have to make ADRs that much in advance. Not everyone knows 180 days up front they'll go to WDW (I knew it 10 days up front)
- Heat and humidity
- Parks so far one from another

At DL:
- Not that many good restaurants as at WDW and DLP
- New prices of Blue Bayou

At DLP:
- Too cold during the winter time (but I love to go then anyway!)
- No lines to meet characters. You have to fight (literally) to hug one of them!

RobinRS needs to go to that OTHER park...sounds like Disney is not your cup of tea! You need to trade in Cindy for the Hulk! I do have to respond regarding concierge. The upcharge is TOTALLY worth it. Sounds to me one has never experience concierge level. I have, and I have to say, if you have a somewhat large family, it IS worth it, and so much a treat.
