What don't you like about WDW? (no flames please!)

At WDW:
- no busses between DTD and parks: very inconvenient

It's my understanding that they used to, but then people were parking at DTD for free and taking the bus to the parks to avoid the parking fee. The parking is already bad at DTD, so they had to do away with the bus service. It is a hassle now to get from the park to DTD--a person has to go to a resort first or take a cab.

If that's the case they just went to far. No reason they couldn't make it a one way trip and not take people back straight to the parks.

I agree it's a real hassle. For the first time we wanted to go straight to PI from a park and couldn't. We actually walked around the bus stop area twice because I had remembered seeing the DTD bus stops there in the past. Gave up and took the first resport bus that came long and confirmed with the driver that they took out the DTD routes.

RobinRS needs to go to that OTHER park...sounds like Disney is not your cup of tea! You need to trade in Cindy for the Hulk! I do have to respond regarding concierge. The upcharge is TOTALLY worth it. Sounds to me one has never experience concierge level. I have, and I have to say, if you have a somewhat large family, it IS worth it, and so much a treat.

Yes, SHE does and does quite often, thank you, and mostly everyone who's been on these boards for a while knows very well.

I was reporting WHY I haven't gone back to Disney in 4 years and believe me I was kind!

As for concierge, I ONLY go with my son and $100 more does nothing for a 2 person family so I guess it is worth it for a larger family but not for mine. I don't see it at the Universal resorts, either.

Yes, I see from your 15,000 posts that you are too busy to go to Disney! LOL

Anyway, I can see your point about concierge, however, it is the convenience factor...no long lines and relaxation...is what the concierge "treat" is all about. My fiance brought me to AKL for my birthday and we did the concierge thing. It was really a nice little treat.

I am finding myself getting to the parks almost every day and, although Disney has its problems, I personally am not even close to burning out, and I enjoy it so much. It is instant relaxation for me. I just accept the crowds (a testament to Disney doing more than a few things right) and go with the flow.

When this thread 1st started I added my 2 cents about the one & only thing that really got to me and that was the demise of the MKC card, then I got to thinking & really surprised myself that I had more things in my claw... :furious:

1- Loss of Figment and the Dreammaker...yes Figment is still there but just a shadow of himself

2- Not enough boys clothes for sale and no character dining for the boys fave characters

3-paper APs should be replaced like another poster said..my biggest fear :laundy: it will go the way of the one elusive sock

4-AP parking lanes (who am I quoting??) GREAT idea

5-Perks for loyal returning guests...if not an AP for visiting doggies then throw us a bone (or something from the Pet Tails line) every couple of visits heck our furkids have been coming there for over 20 yrs too!

Yes, you are quoting me! AP parking lanes, yes, yes.

And those pesky PAPER passes! Hello, Mr. Iger, are you listening? Please issue credit-card-like annual passes! Visitors who come for even a weekend get to have a plastic roomkey which will also get them into parks. What about us poor passholders who go every single weekend and sometimes more? My son's pass could not be read for the third time this year, and if he gets "Cinderellabration" one more time, it's gonna put him over the edge! LOL

Yes, PLASTIC ANNUAL PASSES!!!!

That's a good idea--keep the transportation from the parks to DTD. That way people can get there after a day in the parks, but don't bring people to the parks from DTD. That should discourage people enough so they won't fill the parking lots to avoid paying the theme park parking charges. Most people can then hop on the bus at DTD back to their resort late at night. Works for me! Think someone from WDW is reading? :teeth:

I miss the powdered red hand soap in the bathrooms in the parks :guilty:

Am I the only one?

OMG - I *loved* that powder soap. Made your hands feel all exfoliated and clean! :teeth:

The "10 year old Adult" bugs me. And it might not bug me as much if they werent being stringent on not bieng able to order off the kids menu. :sad2:

One more dirty bathroom story. On our last visit to WDW in 2003, I encountered some terrible restrooms. There was one in Tomorrowland that I just walked right out of - it was that disgusting.

I e-mailed Disney recently after I read another dirty restroom comment here. They replied that they try their best to keep the restrooms clean, but sometimes, due to crowds, it becomes difficult, and if I see a dirty restroom, they would appreciate me contacting a CM to report it.

I wasn't satisfied with that response. WDW, in the past, always had super clean facilities. Always. If you saw a piece of paper towel on the floor, it was really, really amazing. Now - if you find a totally clean restroom, THAT is amazing.

I think they really need to address this issue - and soon.

And then there's the couple that does the ads for the car company--a Caddy dealership maybe? With the dog and the woman who has spent too much having work done. Give me a break.

Not feeling the love for Mr. Toyota, Mr. White Teeth, and Miss Perfect?

Where's the love?

:lmao:

My complaints are mostly on what has been taken from us:
1. Old Imagination ride
2. Horizons
3. World of Motion (I do like test track and wish we could have both)
4. Treehouse Villas
5. The old MGM (The whole backstage tour....with working shows (MM Club), the Bee scene from HISTK, the Lottery short with Bette Midler etc.)
6. The fact WDW has a half version of Pirates

Someone here also brought up they would like essentially an 8pm kid curfew on some restaurants. The problem with that is WDW brings in people from all over the country and globe. 8pm is only 5pm Pacific and 6pm MT where we live. We normally eat at 6:30ish at home and even on vacation try to keep up at least somewhat normal schedule with the kids. So that would be barring us from our prime eating times and even worse for west coasters.

- Better TV options. Yeah, they want people out spending money but when the parks close at 9pm, what else are you going to do? Or when someone is stuck in the room sick? Or while kids are napping? A few additional cable channels and PPV channels really wouldn't hurt.

.

Be grateful. Just a few years back, they didnt even have the Weather Channel - just this weird satellite picture of the State of Florida.

4. The fact that many many people smoke on that Food court corner across from TOT at MGM. It really does something to one's appetite having to walk thru all that smoke to get to the food counters. :o
:

FYI - it's a smoking area.

Ahhh, that explains it. Thanks for the FYI. :smokin:

One of my favorites, as well. ;)

Ever have a question on whether or not someone should have been smoking ___(insert location here)____ , ask me - I know 'em all. :joker: <-LOOK! A fun new smiley! :joker:

My only big dislike has nothing to do with WDW- the rude/ignorant/inconsiderate guests.

:thumbsup2 DITTO!! This is one of our major pet peeves. As an example on our last trip, we found ourselves sitting in front of a couple on the It's a Small World ride who were extremely loud in discussing every aspect of the ride for the entire duration so the entire boat had no choice but to listen to their conversation. We went back to the ride later in the day and this time there was another couple who insisted upon giving their children (and everybody else on the boat) a constant running commentary of the ride. The upside of this was we didn't end up getting "that song" stuck in our heads for the rest of the day. :rotfl2:

People dragging their over-tired, screaming children through the parks scolding them that they paid too much for the trip to go back to their room!

One from my DH... he wants Mickey to do the wake-up call at the resorts, last time we were there it was a Stitch invasion. He asked the front desk for the "old" recording - they had no idea it had changed.

Bring back Mickey! :smickey:

Love the idea about perks for returning guests, like cruise ships have.

Like the Casinos! You get a card you swipe for comp points..that would be awesome!

I didn't know that Disney charged for internet, last time there I didn't have my laptop yet. I also do school on line and my laptop goes everywhere. My last three vacations (weekend trips) I have had to pay anywhere from 9.99 to 15.00 per day....and these were not the cheaper hotel chains either, it was at Marriot in Toronto, Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Chicago and Wyndom in Baltimore (even though being a card holder at Wyndom they waive the internet fee). When I stayed at a Choice hotel it was free for the internet.

The TV is another complaint (and again it is at EVERY hotel I stay at). I pretty much only watch Lifetime and Nick at Nite..I miss my daily fixes when traveling..usually get 50 million sports channels, but not the stuff I watch.

Cost..........I can only afford Disney every 3 years or longer, I would love to go every year, but it is very cost restrictive for a family of five.
