What does Obama stand for?

You said what I was thinking. There are instances where a Diser will post information about a topic (not just politics) that I need to look up after. While I think some of the posters like to razz each other in political threads, I'm the type that genuinely likes to learn people’s opinions. I have also been known to change my position slightly on things that have been said here. I'm probably not the majority, but there is something to be said for a forum such as this one.

From everything I've read on these boards, you're definitely in the minority. I know we've all seen the threads in which many DISers state that they openly dislike the political threads and wish that the "Debate" thread would be brought back so that they don't have to be bothered by the drama. I get it. For some people, the DIS is an escape from daily life, to rant about work, to offer support, or to talk about what's going on with American Idol. The same political back and forth nit-picking that makes the political DISers toes tingle, completely repulses a majority of the other posters on the DISboards. I guarantee you if we started a poll and asked "do you enjoy reading the political threads?", you'd get an overwhelming negative response. Not saying that it's right, just that it is what it is.

Unlike the wealth that is trickling down upon us all now under this character.

Hey! Why actually pay for something when you can simply put it on your tab to China? It's so less painful that way! You don't have to bother the America public to fork out any dough, you push the bill down to the next poor slob who wins the presidency and your grandchildren get saddled with the debt...it's the American way, baby!!

This is totally what happens... And, when you give the answers to the questions, they are totally overlooked or asked again. I don't understand people who just come to the DIS (no offense) and ask these questions. I certainly did not come to the DIS to find out who to vote for. I listened to at least ten of the debates, if not more, I've gone to the websites, I've listened to the candidates, but I'm seriously beginning to think I'm alone in this...

I got my answers. I asked what he stood for and was given informative websites, guess I should of never asked but I thought I could get some insite into what reasons people are choosing to vote for Obama(I was voting Edwards). People around me are voting McCain(which it looks like he will win the nomination) and I just wanted to hear some other peoples opinions and not just what is on the canidates websites alone. It wasn't a Obama, Clinton, McCain bashing thread. I wasn't looking for you or any one to pick someone for me to vote for I only wanted to hear what other Americans are thinking.

I think that the problem with the primaries, is that it doesn't do any good if you live in OH to get to know any of the candidates until...now. It is relatively clear who the winners are. We will hear 9 more months of fussing and fighting, name-calling and rudeness. By then I will hate them all. And probably just vote by my registered status, and pray that the local and state folks I vote for (from both parties) can have some positive impact.

Not your problem, I know, but it makes it difficult to teach my children political responsibility. I am hoping their involvement in local issues will help them to see that at least at a grass roots level they can make a difference.

:thumbsup2 Clinton is in Lordstown Ohio right now at the GM Plant.

Cool! I don't know who all will make it here this year. We've met Hillary before, two Bushes, a Feraro and a Dole. We go see anyone we can.:)

Nonsense -- you'll get your $600 soon. Early retirement here you come.

Of course we charged that $600, so you'll have to pay it back later, with interest, to China -- but enjoy.

Send us a thank you note. We are "the wealthy" who won't be getting a portion of our taxes back.

I don't get one either. But we aren't to be thanked by the receivers, as we weren't asked to pay for it -- yet.

Which Dole did you meet -- just curious.

Elizabeth. She gave me her basket of flowers when she was campaigning for her husband. Nice lady. Of course they've all been nice. It is their job when campaigning!

I like her. I met them both at the Republican National Convention in 1980 (in Detroit of all places -- we stayed inside the Ren Center). Bob was a bit uninviting (for lack of a better term), but I liked Elizabeth.

Frankly, anyone who believes any real change is coming from Obama, McCain, or Hillary are hopefully naive. As long as I keep reading where all candidates have plans on spending more and more money, I will stay a cynic.

I know it's a catch phrase but who says wealth has to "trickle down"? Shouldn't wealth be earned? If I don't become a millionaire, is it because wealth didn't trickle down to me?

I won't either, but, much like you, I have been enjoying the benefits of the Bush Tax cuts over the last few years. I find it somewhat hypocritical to think that a person who makes over $150,000 household annually and has benefited greatly under President Bush's tax policies could honestly gripe that they're not getting a measly $600 like those who make far less and haven't experienced nearly the same tax relief...

Or perhaps, you didn't have the opportunity.
