What do you do with your camera when you're on a ride?

Newbie. I have a nice DSLR that absolutely cannot get stolen because I'd never be able to replace it. I want to bring it for some great pictures, but will it get stolen if I leave it with the stroller?? Not sure how this works. TIA!

I don't even leave my diaper bag in my stroller. I would never think of leaving my camera there.

DH has a huge camera bag for his DSLR. I talked him into purchasing a new smaller bag for our trips. A Lowepro Slingshot. I actually saw them talking about this bag in the photography section of the DIS. He just puts it between his legs on rides and holds onto it.

How about bringing it on the ride with you so you can take (non-flash) pictures?

I have a nice camera myself I purchased a nice padded camera case thats large enough for my extra click and shoot camera, larger camera and a few extras (tickets etc) when I got on the rides I put the case on the floor and put the strap around my leg. Then it will not bounce out of the ride and I will not forget it in the ride. I take it on every ride, ROR, TOT etc Splash you have to put it in a bag so it doesn't get wet.
Good luck!!!!

If you don't want it stolen, keep it with you. Not that it will get stolen, but it could, and you are responsible for your belongings. I keep my park purse (holds wallet, KTTW, lip gloss, etc.) and camera with me at all times. Besides, you can get some great shots on the rides (again, non-flash on dark rides!!;)).

Most rides accommodate a small bag with the rider, big enough to hold my DSLR in it's camera bag. Backpacks are iffier, but I've seen plenty of people carry small ones on rides. Just don't bring it on Kali River Rapids. ;-)

We take our DSLRs on all the rides (Kali included). For most rides, we just hold them, or leave the straps around our waist and slide the bag down between our knees (in fanny pack like position). Or put them in the mesh bag holder if they fit.

For Kali, we just have waterproof covers for our camera bags (my husband has a Lowepro sling bag, and I have the Lowepro Slingshot 100). Then, we put both bags into a garbage bag, tie tightly closed with a knot in the bag (rather than just tying the strings), and place the garbage bag into the center bag holder on the rafts. They have always been fine. For Splash Mountain, we just use the bag covers, or just hide the camera bags under our knees on the ride.

The camera will be fine, even on the roller coasters. Just keep it in the camera bag then.

Mine is a small, inexpensive camera, and I keep it with me at all times. A good quality ziplock bag is my camera's best friend, even during rain showers when it is in my backpack.

Just make sure it is a real ziplock bag, not a store brand. They don't seal as well

i keep mine with me at all times. I have a nice padded case that the camera and batteries and a couple memory cards fit into. I don't bring extra lenses, etc. I keep it around my neck or sometimes cinch it up and keep it around my waist.

I have a really cool video of Expedition Everest because I always keep my camera with me. Also remember that many of the lines / waiting areas are themed and you may want pictures in there also.

What about things like roller coasters? They can't get flung out of the ride? That's my worst nigthmare! LOL.

I keep a back with me at all time, just your standard sized backpack with me. On rides, most of the time I wrap my legs around my backpack straps and when taking pictures of rides or video, I strap it around my wrist for my point and shoot and for the SLR, I use an extended strap to put around me.

If my bag or camera falls out then I have fallen out as well :scared1:

I also have n awesome video from the front row of Expedition Everest as well as from the Tower of Terror at night.

Most coasters have a little bag with an elastic top that "locks" in the item. However, WDW roller coasters aren't so wild you couldn't just hold onto the strap or keep something between your feet. Of course, I like my hands free so I can wave 'em in the air, wave like I just don't care. ;)

I dont take my good film camera to amusement parks with me because I'd rather it not get broken.

However, my boyfriend and I always carry a digital camera everywhere we go (we takes tons of pictures). We're yet to go to WDW, but when we go to Disneyland, he always puts the digital in his pocket or we throw it in the backpack last minute :rotfl: I love to have pictures of our trips together and everyday life.

Bring a nice large zip loc bag to put it in for wet rides. We got on Kali and there wasn't enough room to put our backpack in the center holder, so it had to go in between my feet.

Got wet of course, but no damage luckily.

While your standing in line, but your cam in the plastic bag and put it in your backpack and your set.

:scared1: I would absolutely NOT leave it with the stroller. I wouldn't want to take the chance at all...

What I did last time I went (and will probably do again) is bring my one DSLR-like camera and a point n shoot. The DSLR stayed out ALL the time, unless there was a need to put it away. I carried a small padded camera case in the bottom of my standard-size backpack that I could put the camera into when I needed to. Then, I could stick my leg through one of the straps (like on BTMRR) and rest the bag on the floor of the ride.

For my little point and shoot, if I can feasibly take that onto a ride, I take it! I put the DSLR in the backpack (as noted above) or give it to hubby if he's not riding, and hold onto the little camera. I'm, um, endowed with a big, um, set, and found that I can tuck my camera into there--worked out great on Splash! :thumbsup2

I found that I dnd't put my camera away until I was pretty much Next in Line, if I had to put it away at all.

For rides like Splash and Kali, we found it easier to put the ENTIRE bag into a Ziploc Big Bag, rather than worrying about what was inside the backpack (cell, camera, big camera, watch, batteries, etc). The bonus of the ZBB is that if you have more than one person with a backpack, they will ALL fit into one bag, so after Kali is over, just walk away with your bag. You won't even have to worry if the little bag holder in the middle is full--your gear is safe!

I'm not planning on checking any baggage, just taking a carry on plus my Nikon D40. I'm going to have to put that through the xray machine right? Is that safe?

Where do you find these Ziploc Big Bags?? I looked all over Walmart today as well as a local grocery store. Can't find them. Any suggestions from anyone?

Zip lock bags should be with the saran wrap, aluminum foil at Walmart & grocery stores. I use the large ziplock that you can put clothes in. Thats how I carry extra clothes for my DS incase of a accident too.

The Zip Loc Big Bags in my Walmart are with the laundry baskets and SpaceBags. The other gallon, quart, pint size zip locs are with the saran wraps and tin foil as PP said.

I keep my stuff with me. I use a backpack that slings across my chest and all of my things stay right with me. If I'm on a water ride like the rapids or splash mountain I have my camera in a ziplock bag inside my backpack.
