DS is finally at an age (3.5) where he really understands Santa. :) I'm already planning on baking cookies on Christmas Eve for Santa. But I don't know what to leave for the reindeer. What do they eat??

We mix dry oats and glitter and spinkle it on the lawn. That is how the reindeer are able to find us. :goodvibes

We left out carrots one year. and sprinkled bird seed in the yard one year. The reindeer loved both and ate them all up!!!!!! ;)

My initial thought was carrots, but DH said no because that's what the Easter bunny eats.

mostly they eat the bushes in the yard...

MIkeeee

The reindeer used to eat carrots at our house, but when my youngest was 4 he told Santa he'd leave ice for the reindeer.
It's been ice for the reindeer ever since, and he's 13 now and find it embarrassing.

Mmm. How about some ice??

That's what I was thinking - oatmeal.

We leave out baby carrots or apple quarters.

We just made reindeer food with my class at preschool and what we used was
1/2 cup oats
a few shakes of cinnamon and ginger
red,green and silver glitter
sprinkles

The kids loved making their own bag.

When I was a kid reindeer ate carrtos.
Now they eat shredded wheat, shredded and mixed with glitter. DS brought some home in a bag from pre-school years ago & it seemed like a good idea.

LOL!! This is so funny! Our dog, Milo, has stomach issues and has to only eat hypo-allergenic food. No treats or anything like that (one every now and then doesn't hurt too much). Milo does, however, LOVE ice! Whenever we get some from the fridge, he goes nuts. It's the biggest treat for him! So I'm sure the reindeer loved it too.

Good idea. They're a lot older now, shredded wheat increases their fiber intake and keeps them more regular.

Santa will have to make less bathroom stops. :thumbsup2

I always used to leave them sugar cubes (our horses/ponies always liked them as treats, so why not the reindeer?).
