What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Rose and Crown looks very good :thumbsup2

It definitely gets a :thumbsup2

As a Yorkshire gal I heartily approve of your Yorkshire Pudding fixation!:goodvibes

We've never eaten in the Rose and Crown (we go on holiday to get away from English food!!) but your photos look so good - we might have to try it!

I understand completely! ;) Whenever we are on vacation we steer away from German food (not much Austrian around anyway!)
We both love English food and are well aware of REAL English food as we have family living near London. We were really happy with the quality of the Rose and Crown! :thumbsup2
You might even want to give it a try (maybe when you feel homesick? ;)) :goodvibes

I agree! We have never even considered it but looking at those pictures has me reconsidering. Mmmmm yorkshire pudding :worship:

They make quite a nice Yorkshire Pudding! :thumbsup2 And the mushrooms and cream that came with the Yorkshire Pudding were to die for!

I am soooooo jealous !!! 30 days at Disney- WOW !!! You guys are my hero !!!!!

I loved the interior photos of the Via Napoli restaurant, we will be checking it out on 12/11, so excited !!

Great job !!! :santa::santa::santa:

:welcome:
It's wonderful to have you here!
Thank you for your kind works! Tom and I try to do our best taking pictures and eating! ;) :lmao:

Via Napoli is real nice. They did a wonderful job on the restaurant, interior and food! I hope you'll like it as much as we do!

Hi Karin

DH has just had Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding for dinner !!
We have never tried the Rose & Crown as we always want to try the non British food but your dinner looked great

Hi Linda!

Mmmmmmhhhhhhhhh, Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding! :cloud9:

I really understand not wanting to try and compare your "home" food with vacation food, but they do a pretty good job at the Rose and Crown. :thumbsup2 You can be pretty proud of them.

Day 6, August 19

Lunch at the Lottawatta Lodge

Yes, we did it again!! :rolleyes1
We loved our first trip to a water park so much that we repeated the experience the very next day. Today we were heading to Blizzard Beach. We arrived after having had a hearty breakfast with bits and pieces out of the fridge and explored the park and dared the rides.

IMG_5784.jpg

And yes, we both dared Summit Plummet! :rotfl2:

IMG_5778.jpg

By midday and after lots of splish-splashing we were hungry and tried to find the Lottawatta Lodge.

After the CS we had had the day before we both tried to order something simple. Tom had the Bacon Double Cheeseburger - with French Fries.

IMG_5771.jpg

Well, what can be said, it was just that a double cheeseburger, nothing special, but not bad either.

IMG_5770.jpg

I ordered something I hadn't had in a long time, the Chicken Breast Nuggets with French Fries. Actually they were quite good. The nuggets were crisp and hot and dipping them in some sauces (from the condiments bar) helped them even more. Fries were just that - fries!

IMG_5773.jpg

IMG_5775.jpg

Tom chose another fruit cup for dessert. These were nice and cold and quite fresh. I picked out the grapes as Tom did not eat them and they were nice and juicy!

IMG_5776.jpg

IMG_5777.jpg

I felt like something else and ordered the Cheesecake. Unfortunately I am not that big a fan of cheesecake, but it was nice.

After our lunch we stayed for a little while longer but left a little after 1pm as it started to get too crowded.

Price breakdown:
DDP - 24 credits to start with
Lottawatta Lodge .... $ 30 (2 CS credit)
TS credits left - 16
CS credits left - 15
Snack credits left 17

Overall money spent on DDP: $ 454,70

Next up - Le Cellier

Look at you and Tom--two days in a row at a water park. :thumbsup2

Disney cheeseburgers, unless you get them at The Plaza or Beaches and Cream (I'm told), are just "ehh." Nothing special. Same with the french fries (the best ones are at The Plaza). I tend to go with the chicken nuggets myself because they really aren't all that bad.

Yes, we braved the water parks again! :rotfl2:

I am not a huge fan of burgers in the first place, so I thought I'd better stick with something I usually like and the chicken nuggets are still quite nice!

We need to put the Plaza back on our list - missed that reservation during our summer trip! :scared1:

Completely agree!!! The Plaza is the way to go!

Well, on your (Tom's actually) suggestion, I had that cheesesteak at the Plaza. It ROCKED MY WORLD. I had that with the fries.

You will find, though, that the burger has a very similar roll to the one you like to have as your breakfast! I love those Austrian rolls!

I really love their tuna salad croissant. Yes, sounds strange, but it really is nice.
But I guess the burger is on the menu for me .......... either in February or in August! :thumbsup2 Especially if they come on Kaiser rolls!

You better...or I will hunt you down. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I surrender! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The burger and fries for me please! :lmao: :lmao:

(Told you, Tina, we are a fun bunch over here!;))

Oh, no, Karin...it will be in February!

I just started reading your Dining review and when I saw you state that you had a TR as well, well I had to pull that up too! I've got a lot to work through now but it looks fantastic so far! DW and I also did a month-long WDW trip last year. I started a TR but so many RL things got in the way that I didn't get too far. I look forward to catching up and then waiting for each installment! :goodvibes

It's wonderful to have you on board!
Hope you like the TR too! ;) It's been another wonderful vacation and I love sharing it with all my readers here on the DIS!
So you did a month-long trip too? They are the best, aren't day - no rushing around, lots of time to smell the roses!
Working on the next installment and I hope to post it real soon! :goodvibes

Good to hear the Plaza has a good burger. I agree regular Disney burgers are nothing to get overexcited about.

Still Day 6, August 19

Dinner at LeCellier

Once we had returned from Blizzard Beach we spent some time back at the villa before we decided that we could go to Downtown Disney to do some shopping.

IMG_5803.jpg

IMG_5818.jpg

We spent quite some time at Downtown Disney and did some shopping before returning to our villa. But since we had some time left before our dinner reservation we decided to take another dip in the quiet pool.

We returned to the villa about an hour prior to our reservation, took showers and got ready and left for Epcot about half an hour before our reservation. We made it to LeCellier just in time.
While we were hurrying towards LeCellier we were discussing if we should ask to be seated in Brandan's section. Brandan is our favourite server at LeCellier. He and his brother Patrick have been working there for quite some time and they both have that certain "Canadian charm"
In the end we decided against it, since we were late already and didn't want to give them any more trouble.
LeCellier was PACKED!!!!!!!!! There were people waiting inside and outside and lots of people turned away. We were told to "grab a seat" and wait. No seats, so we leaned against the wall, getting ready for a long wait. Wrong!!! It didn't even take 4 minutes and we were led to our table. The CM handed us our menus and added "Brandan's going to be your server tonight." Um, wait, Brandan??????? Yes, Brandan, who we wanted to request - guess it was pixie dust.
A little later Brandan appeared, asked for drinks and if we had been to LeCellier before and we had a little chat. He was happy to hear he was our favourite server there! :rotfl2:

We decided against a starter as we had snacked quite a lot all day but Tom ordered an extra drink.

IMG_5829.jpg

Yes, he had a Moosehead. He really enjoys those.

IMG_5827.jpg

Next came the bread. Brandan had asked what our favourite bread was and brought out 2 Pretzel bread sticks. He mentioned that the bread was nice with butter, but even better dipped into the cheese soup.

IMG_5828.jpg

So he brought us a small cup of cheese soup for dipping! ;) Told you he is our favourite server there! :lmao:

IMG_5832.jpg

I ordered my all time favourite there, the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce. Okay, now ......... the meat was cooked perfectly medium and the knife ran through it as if it was butter! The risotto was devine, rice cooked perfectly and there were just the right amount of mushrooms and truffle. I was in heaven.

IMG_5834.jpg

IMG_5837.jpg

Tom wanted to try something new, the Veal T-Bone - with black bread "Pazanella" salad and Banyuls vinaigrette. Brandan told him that the meat was usually cooked medium, more rather on the rare side, and if he would like it like that - yes, he did and he was very happy with it. The meat was tender and well seasoned and the bread salad was a wonderful change from the usual potato dishes. Very nice entree! Comes highly recommended if you like your meat medium.

We were full by then, but since the DDP comes with dessert and we had a dining review to write, we just felt like we "had to" have dessert. :rolleyes1 ;)

IMG_5838.jpg

Tom ordered the Seasonal Sorbet, which was orange and lime and was tart and refreshing.

IMG_5841.jpg

I had another dessert I had had before, the Le Cellier Mount Blanc Semifreddo - with chilled fruit syrup. While the actual Semifreddo was delicious I didn't like the mango coulis it came with. The coulis was far too sweet for the sweet semifreddo. The last time it came with a red fruit coulis and the tart coulis was a perfect compliment to the sweet semifreddo.

When we were finally all set and ready to leave it was close to the park closing and we thought that we might beat the crowds by leaving before the fireworks. That's what we did and we were back at OKW by 9.30pm.

Price breakdown:
DDP - 24 credits to start with
Le Cellier .... $ 96,70 (2 TS credit)
TS credits left - 14
CS credits left - 15
Snack credits left 17

Overall money spent on DDP: $ 551,40

Next up - A snack picked up at OKW

Good to hear the Plaza has a good burger. I agree regular Disney burgers are nothing to get overexcited about.

I can't comment on the average Disney burger, but Kathy (KatMark) swears by the Plaza ones, so I take her word for it! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to try one myself! :goodvibes

Your review of LeCellier has me drooling all over my keyboard. :lmao::lmao:

We skipped it last month to go to a few other places and I really, REALLY missed my cheese soup. :sad1: Back to LeCellier next year for us.
