What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Thank you so much for all of your great reviews! I know you put a lot of time and effort into them. It's especially great when i am researching places to try on our next trips. So Thanks!!:goodvibes

The only problem with this is my list of new places to try keeps growing and growing...:lmao: Now I need to try the Turf Club...:rotfl:

Thanks a lot Karin !!Now I have another to my list of wanna tries !!! he food at Tutrf Club looks delish!!

:lmao:
Great review, Karin. Turf Club looks really good (especially Tom's steak and your dessert!).

Thanks, Kathy, we would gladly give the Turf Club the :thumbsup2 !

The food at the Turf Club looked good. We were going to eat there but I changed our ADR to Maya Grille at the Coronado Springs Resort. We love prime rib and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was quiet and the live guitar player was very romantic. We liked this resort after walking around it. We may try this one next visit. We noticed there were no lines at the bus stops for this resort, and everyone in the line for Caribbean Beach kept saying I want to stay at that resort the line has no one. We loved Caribbean Beach it is absolutely beautiful and quiet too, for such a large resort. We were given Martinique 2318 facing a smoking courtyard on the ground floor. Mick loved that so he could walk out and smoke his Sosa cigars. We were very close to the bus stop and pool, but a bit of a walk to the marketplace. We liked it much better than the loud Pop and All Star resorts. As you said the week went by so fast, I thought 8 nights was a good stay, but it was over before I knew it. We had a great time. Mick says to tell you hi and say hello to Thomas for us.

Maya Grill was a great choice, Teri! :thumbsup2 But I am sure you would enjoy the Turf Club as well!
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the CBR! Were you able to have a look into one of the pirate rooms? We stayed in them twice and they are A LOT OF fun! ;)
The resort itself is beautiful, isn't it and I agree with you that sometimes there can be quite a hike to the restaurants.

Please give Mick a big  from us ....... we really enjoyed our time together on board the "WONDERful Disney WONDER". I am so happy you joined us here, so we can stay in touch!

Thanks for sharing some new dining experiences! I find myself wanting to try the Turf Club now too!

By the way, I am very jealous... a month-long vacation is a rarity for Americans, sadly. You Europeans know how to do it right!

:welcome:
Great to have you on board!
We really enjoyed our visit to the Turf Club - it really is a restaurant worth trying!

I know the month long vacation is a real treat, but see it this way - it is MUCH easier (and cheaper) for you Americans to reach a Disney Destination than it is for us Europeans! ;)
Living in the "Disney desert" (there is NOTHING Disney where we live, the closest Disney store is 1000 miles away!) we just need to catch up during our vacation! :goodvibes

BTW - I love YOUR reviews!

I was going to eat at Turf Club this past trip, but that's the night I ended up eating at La Hacienda instead. Can't say I'm sorry I ate there, but I am sorry I missed the Turf Club. Maybe next trip - I've heard their onion rings are the best on property, so I need to give those a try.

Well, at least you have something to look forward to on your next trip! ;) .... that's what we do ...... we are looking forward to eating at La Hacienda! :goodvibes

I just love new readers!
I am really happy that my reviews can be helpful for others! And I am sorry to cause a problem :lmao: and make your list longer and longer! But even with 21 days worth of dining I had a problem fitting it ALL in! :rolleyes1

Thanks a lot Karin !!Now I have another to my list of wanna tries !!! he food at Tutrf Club looks delish!!

I am SO sorry you HAVE TO go and try the Turf Club now, Rosie! :rotfl2: But we did follow your advice too and went to Fairfax Fare! ;)

Day 5, August 18

Lunch at Typhoon Tilly's

In all the years we have gone to WDW we NEVER showed any interest in the water parks.
This summer, the first billboard we came across was one that advertised water parks and had Donald and his nephews sliding down a waterslide, with a catch phrase that said "A splash of Magic".
Somehow it got us thinking that we had done "everything" at Disney apart from the waterparks.
So today was the day we were going to change that - after a long quest for water shoes for both of us the days before we were up bright and early to go to Typhoon Lagoon.

Tom had made some coffee and tea and some sandwiches for breakfast for both of us.

Mmmh, Boursin creme cheese on soft American bread, topped with Pepperoni and bread and butter pickle slices. :lmao:
Sorry, the orange juice was substituted by Diet Coke! ;)

A little before 8am we arrived at Typhoon Lagoon and joined the already long line. Once we were allowed inside we rented a locker and found some deck chairs right up close by the lagoon.

We really enjoyed our time in the Wave pool, the lazy river, riding Crush'n'Gusher and some other water slides, but by noon we were hungry and walked over to Typhoon Tilly's for some lunch.

The lines were long and NOTHING was coming out. The lines were so long that a manager came out and refunded the people first in line their money!

After about 15 minutes in line (at a CS!!!) we finally received our food!

We found a seat and were ready to "dig in".

We had decided to share two entrees. This one was the special of the day - a Grilled Italian Sandwich.
Sliced "meat", cheese and tomato slices on a long roll.
While it was a nice sandwich, it was VERY greasy! There was a lot of grease on the bottom of the little container it came in and we had to let it drip before we cut it in half.
Don't get me wrong - the taste was nice but there was just too much grease!

The second entree we had was a BBQ Pork Sandwich - served with French fries. This was really good, lots of pulled pork, tasty barbeque sauce in a soft roll. Something we really enjoyed.

We both didn't feel like cake for our dessert, so we both got a fruit cup. It was a nice change. Tom likes melon, but does not really like grapes and I don't like melon, but love grape  so we swapped the fruit around and very much enjoyed this lighter option.

Great reviews again Karin :goodvibes

Thank you, Linda!
We LOVED the water parks and I even dared Summit Plummet (well, Tom did too, but I was more scared than he was! :rotfl2:)

Actually, having the computer, we often checked what would have been available "day of" and we were amazed at how MANY and (even popular) restaurants were available! :thumbsup2

Great reviews, always enjoy reading them. :cool1:
Nice to see some counter service reviews at Typhoon Lagoon. I think we ate a hot dog there on our first visit many years ago. Now we usually pop to downtown for lunch.
Did you go to both water parks? I thought summit plummet was at Blizzard beach.
We're thinking of going to Blizzard beach for a change :goodvibes
looking forward to more reviews :)

I am soooooo enjoying your dining reviews! :) Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!

Yes, we actually went to both water parks and enjoyed them both very much. And you are right Summit Plummet IS at Blizzard Beach - once again I am getting ahead of myself (and my dining reviews )

I actually just reviews Typhoon Tilly's in my reviews too, and I had never been to a water park before this trip either, lol. Service was slow with us too, but I assumed that was because we made changes to everything we ordered, maybe it is an actual problem.

Thanks, i thought so. not sure if I could build up the courage to do summit plummet. well done to you both :worship:
I like TL but my husband wants to go to BB next time. It never seems to get rave reviews,be nice to see it though :thumbsup2

I've never even HEARD of Turf Club. Don't know where I've been. But it looks wonderful. May have to give it a try sometime.

Now, the waterpark CS on the other hand....not so much. Sorry it wasn't a great experience. The pork looks ok, but that Italian sandwich doesn't look so great. Good thing you had a few other meals on this trip to overcome it! ;)

Karin, I vividly remember the last time we went to a water park in 2000 (the last time BOTH boys were with us at the same time), the food was very greasy and it took forever to get.

I do love the lazy river and the wave pool, but just can't see spending all of that money for just those two things.

I am a local Orlando resident so sometimes it is easy to forget about all the great places to eat we have at the parks. I'm really enjoying reading about your adventures!:)

Read your review and loved it! :lmao:
I have read several reviews lately that stated that service was very slow at the waterparks, so I guess the wait was a pretty regular one. ;)

With all the little kids in line ahead and behind us, there was no way to chicken out of Summit Plummet. :rotfl2:
We went to BB the very next day and even though it was fun, we enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon more. Will be interesting to see what you think about it. :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed the Turf Club, it was a really relaxed restaurant and the food was pretty good.
I am not such a big fan of the waterpark CS either. But at least the BBQ pork was nice and the fruit was refreshing!
Yes, we had "a few" meals to make up for the waterpark meals! ;) :lmao:

Kathy, we have NEVER even considered the water parks! Even when we had the Fun in the Sun (European 30 day pass) we never went there, but that billboard did some magic with us and the UK tickets we had already had 7 days of water parks on them, so why not use them? ;)
We still have 5 water park days left,!!!
I really enjoyed TL more than BB, even though we had real fun days at both!

and thank you for joining! I am very happy you like my reviews. There are quite a few more to come! :goodvibes

I am really enjoying your report! Oh, how wonderful it would be to spend 30 days!

Can't wait to read more and put some of this knowledge to use in 2 weeks! I am especially excited to try WPE now. ;)

It's so nice to have you here!

We will both be at A Disney destination in 2 weeks! ;) Only difference is that we are going to the Halloween Party at Disneyland Resort Paris! :goodvibes
And you will be able to try WPE, while we WON'T be able to! :sad2:

More updates coming soon!

Just saying hello. Max is home sick today and I think I have a touch of it, too, so I've been on a lot today, only to discover that as far as the Dis was concerned, I was not subbed into this thread! :confused3 Glad to hear you had a good time at the waterparks, even if your lunch was less than spectacular!
