What common Boyish/Girlish things do you NOT do?

I'm a woman and I DO NOT:

Get manicures/pedicures or even paint my nails
Get excited about shopping (I hate it, actually)
Like to wear dresses or skirts
Care about jewelry (besides my wedding rings)
Go out with large groups of women for "girl's nights out"
Care about fashion trends, shoes, purses, etc.

I go hunting and I love MMA. I take my kid to a parent+kid karate class.
I’m a doctor, not a nurse.
I wear jeans more often than skirts.
I drink beer more than wine.
I wear makeup more often on Halloween than on other days.

Off topic, but if you don't mind telling me, how old was your kid when they started karate? DD really wants to start but I'm not sure how much of a disadvantage she will be at starting at 9 and not having the greatest overall coordination. It seems like a lot of kids start at a really young age. I had no idea there even were parent+kid classes.

LOVE this. haha...we didn't even make it to a proper courthouse. We were married by a friend who was a notary...in a stealth MK ceremony. Couldn't really afford a wedding and neither could our parents. So we eloped. Everyone was in jeans and raced for thunder mountain after we said the vows. :woohoo:

That's awesome! We were in the Marine Corps and had to race back to work afterwards. A ride on BTM would have been great!

My dad picked on me for years for wearing the same pair of duct taped shoes from 7th grade all through high school (by choice, they stopped making that style and I couldn't find anything similar that I liked), so being an obnoxious teen, I told him I'd one day get married in them. Though I did finally buy new shoes as an adult, I did indeed save that old pair and wear them when I got married. When my dad saw the pic of us at the courthouse, he cracked up and asked if he could finally throw those shoes away. Instead, I saved them for another 6 years and wore them to his wedding, then put them in a box and gifted them to him as a wedding present. He thought it was hilarious and promptly laid them to rest in the dumpster. RIP duct tape shoes.

Female here. I only ever wear jeans, tshirts, and hoodies. I got married at the courthouse in a hoodie, jeans, and shoes with duct tape on them and don't regret for a second not having a big wedding. I don't use a purse or wallet; everything has to fit in my pockets. I own a total of 3 pairs of shoes: sneakers, cowgirl boots, and flip-flops for going swimming. I don't wear makeup, the most effort I'll take with my hair is a ponytail, and I'd kill myself in heels. I've never taken a selfie. I hate shopping, chocolate, wine, chic flicks, and anything pink. I'm a Marine Corps vet and curse like one too, and would much rather go shooting at the range with the guys than go to another Mary Kay/Scentsy/Tupperware/whatever the crap they're selling party that the wives are throwing. And no, fellow ladies, you cannot follow me into the bathroom stall. I'm perfectly capable of handling my business alone and don't feel the need to converse at all in a bathroom.

You are my hero.

Can I just tell you how exhausting it is to be married to a Marine and have to deal with all those other wives and their girly nonsense and their coffee get togethers and MLM parties and "support groups?" 21 years and counting. I probably should have joined the Corps myself, but I'm nowhere near badass enough to be a Marine. I so respect all the female Marines I have met, though.

Don’t compare yourselves to people who have been training since they were in the womb. My first martial arts classes were in grad school. My training place has classes with students from 5-500. Everyone learns at their own pace. Just sign up your DD and yourself and go! In answer to your question, my kid started late. He was 4. The 2 year olds laughed at him. Just kidding. Go to an intro class. You’ll love it.

Not into dresses, heels, cute sandals or designer bags. No wine, mommy groups, PTA or yoga pants for me. I don’t care about “putting on my face” before I leave the house. I’m picky about my hair but my cut is low maintenance and functional. Pretty much I’m the polar opposite of DH’s younger sister who takes two hours to get ready to run up to the 7/11.

Aww, thanks! I got out about 2 months before DH did and it was like suddenly a flip switched and all the other wives were calling me up expecting me to go to their Scentsy parties and such instead of with their DHs to the bar or shooting. Umm, no thanks! I'm gonna go hang out with the guys like usual. I have a ton of respect for military spouses though. You guys deal with a lot with deployments, moving, base regs, etc, as well as just putting up with us! I know it can't be easy!

Haha, thanks for the info! I have a little bit of skills from the military, but have some hip issues, so I'm not sure what all I'll still be able to do. DD'll probably kick my butt on the first day! You have me intrigued though. I think I'm going to check out some places and see if they are willing to work with us with my limitations (and dr's approval of course). If not, DD will still enjoy it.

You name it... sports, cars, all the typical machismo garbage. Hate it all.

Give me a great novel, some modern classical music, or some actual intelligent conversation any day over anything America's dufus preachy hypocritical "culture."

I love to gamble and my DH loves to shop. My Casino people know that DH drops me off while he shops. It's all good. :thumbsup2

Female here. I don’t do high heels. I’m not super into jewelry. I’m the most comfortable in a sweatshirt, shorts, and sneakers. I hate movies and books like The Notebook. I can’t stand Grey’s Anatomy. I don’t watch Lifetime (I’d rather watch SVU, SciFi, or Disney). I don’t bullet journal. I refuse to buy your diet supplements or try any diet fad.

It’s basically a journal/planner where you draw every part of it yourself. I see it as a big time-suck. The women in my office are obsessed.472500
