What are your plans for adding to your DVC points?

I would like to add on enough eventually for our two oldest to be able to vacation with their families/eventual families in a one bedroom for a week at least every other year. I would probably go ahead and add enough for them to do it every year and use those extra points for me, dh and the two youngest so that we could go more often and stay in two bedrooms all the time instead of studios.

I would love to add on at CR, the Poly or AKL. It would also be okay with me to add more to our current points at VWL & SSR or even add on at BCV, BWV or OKW. I would love to have points at VB but don't want to pay those maintenance fees!

I guess asny of them are fine with me!

We have 160 points at SSR which works out great for us DTD lovers. If the rumored CRV is true we will do a small contract to add an extra trip to WDW. Should AKL be up all bets will be off - looks like we will be adding at least another 160-200.

I think though, that the only way we would add on anywhere it would something offsite that peaked our interest like villas at DL or NYC...

DW though says that if AKL goes up, she will buy in a heartbeat... :

How come nobody mentions adding points anywhere so they can travel to Europe using those points? One of the reasons we joined was to save $ on hotel rooms outside the Disney Collection, and checking prices in London recently I'm glad I have points I can use for a week there (in low season, but hey -)! Points are points - I'd buy another 50 in a heartbeat at the right price just so we can enjoy some here in Fla. & some elsewhere too. Am I wrong about this?
P.S. Now the problem is that the places we want are full when we want to use the points - like VB for July 4th. Go figure.

DH just told me yesterday that we are now saving for 150-200 CR points. Guess if Dean says it Dave believes it. I must say we both have found Dean to be extreeeeeemly helpful over the years (we do have a different prospective on a few items) but whatever it takes to get monorail points is DH new DVC goal. What makes this so funny is that the "saver" in the family just told everyone that we had enough points and probably won't buy any more...that's till he realized that CRV will probably happen in our lifetime! I'm guessing that the points will be more than the $42.99 we paid for a night in the tower in 1971!

If they build it we will come. We would add on in a heartbeat if they built DVC in Hawaii, California, Pacific Northwest, Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Resort or Grand Floridian Resort. We are just waiting to see where and when they will build so we can do an add on so we can have enough points (contracts) to leave to all of our neices and nephews. Currently have two 250 pt contracts and would need a couple of more so everyone can get the same amount.

We just (last week) bought 75 points at BWV, because we decided we wanted something in the Epcot area. We're also selling off a small OKW contract to pay for it in part.

We bought the BWV points directly from Disney after not passing ROFR twice for resales. Also, given the points were are going up to $95 per point at the end of the month, and we were ready to buy, now seemed as good a time as any.

With this, that's it. No more points. We will have a total of 362 points between VWL and BWV. I'm even thinking about selling off one of the small VWL contracts, because with the exception of an odd year here and there, we would still have plenty of points for a week long trip and a shorter trip each year. But, the decision to part with some of those VWL points is proving pretty tough.

Unfortunately, our 310 points is enough for now. I say "unfortunately" because we don't have the vacation time to use any more points. But I'm hoping things change in another 5-10 years. Hopefully, we'll be retired and free to spend more time at WDW. And DS is getting married in a few weeks, so hopefully, there'll be grandchildren and bigger units in our future. Then we'll probably add on where we own know, OKW and BCV, rather than buy any different DVC resort. Besides, I remember some people believe OKW is the only "true" DVC resort!

I'm the OP and I appreciate all the resonses I think it's interesting to see how everyone plans and likes different things. Sort of goes with the whole flexibility concept of DVC. I originally bought the 150 SSR points but now see that it is just a start to what we'd really like to vacation. I do like the idea of adding smaller contracts to resorts for studio visits.

Now since I posted this, a 50 pt contract came up for a HH resale and I bid!LOL I really wanted the F & F deal but I couldn't manage an extra 120 points yet. If that goes through, we'll be at 200 points.

My plan for next year would be to save for the next DVC- Poly and AKL are topping my wish list. The bottom line is that I want to have about 300 or more points because that will cover what we need each year (hopefully!LOL). I could see myself buying for the next 5 years until we have enough. Before DVC, I spent about 4K/year on Disney trips so that is what I'm working with as a guide.

We plan to add on when DS is in kindergarten - the difference between daycare and tuition would more than cover the final 150 points we want.

Now...as to where...

I would love BCV or VWL as a resale - just being able to get what we want 11 months out would be great. But there is that duration difference...

Other than that, I think VAKL or the Poly would be perfect. At this point, the CS doesn't interest me much.
