What are your plans for adding to your DVC points?

We won't be buying anymore points till a new resort is built that we fall in love with.

We are finding we may need to add on now that our daughter is school age... what I'd like is for them to resurrect the plans for a new monorail resort between the TTC and CR as a DVC resort.... I would be standing in line to buy points.

Otherwise we'd like it if they converted/added DVC to the Contemporary or Polynesian and would probably buy an add-on to our 300 points at either.

waiting to close on 150 SSR. But want to buy another resale in the next year. Looking at OKW .... bigger rooms, laid back atmosphere OR BCV for the pool and Beaches and Cream.. oh and the walk to both Epcot and Boardwalk too! BWV mn fees too high for my liking at the moment even thoush BWV is probably my fav resort. :yay:

I was just thinking yesterday that if there were a AKVwith maybe it's own back entry to AK - say right near EE? We would be all over that! It could have an "Everest-y theme" even. Mind you, it would also be nice to be linked up with AKL - nice pool and restaurants and everything.

I suppose it is too much to hope for, though. :sad2:

Other than that, I think we are okay with what we've got and not sure what more it would take to push us over the add-on edge. :)

We think we have enough now. Originally bought 200 BCV in 2002, added 100 more in 2003. Last summer ('05) we bought two 100 pt. contracts at VWL i order to guarantee Xmas stays. We have only stayed in studios (just wife and I), but may have to upgrade to use our points up.

We are currently on the list for 60 more BCV points. That will take us to 600, and we will probably be done.

The reason I say "probably" is because our lives are about undergo a change...dd starts Texas public school in 2 yrs. That means that we can only travel over Christmas break and Spring break (I will not go in the summer). We like to stay in 1bdrms, so that will certainly eat up our points.

I can see us adding on in the next 2 or 3 years, or if a good promotion shows up.

I think DH would be up for an add-on at OKW.
Ah..hemm..that is if it weren't such an awful resort! We would only buy at OKW to show our DVC support, yes, just out of concern that no DVC resort should go unloved!
Hmm..we already love VWL!
Now, if AKLV should open up...oh, yeah!
Indecisive? you should ask us what we're doing on any given night out!

DH and I just have the 160 points for now, but we are considering a small add-on at either VWL or BCV. It would give us the home ownership closer to a park, which once my new little niece or nephew arrives will be a concern. As for a big add-on, if they ever opened VAKL we'd buy more points than would be good for us. This is our favorite resort on property.

We're new but I really feel like we could use 75-125 more points. The questions is where. When we bought a couple months ago we bought 200, with the idea that we'd add on when the next resort opened, with the assumption that that resort would probably be the Contemporary (although we are most excited about AKL-- if VCR is next VAKL will be years away.)

On the other hand, I like the idea of a small BWV contract to take advantage of the 11 month booking window for standard view so I can stretch points farther when I want to stay there. And pay lower prices than waiting for the Contemporary.

Or... I could just take advantage of incentives that are always available for the current resort and add-on right away at my home resort, SSR. Free APs, woo-hoo!

Since I'm so fickle and undecided it's probably best to let the ink dry on my contract and wait it out even if I do watch a couple price increases pass by. for future use we could use more points but for the next couple trips we are fine, since we banked our 2005 points we're working on a surplus for a couple years. So the only reason to add on right this second would be because of perceived value of doing it now rather than later.

As hot as the Contemporary will be, I'm sure there will be some nice incentives and pre-construction sales, so I'm going to attempt patience. We'll see how that works out! :rotfl2:

Definitely would add on if DVC opened something at the Grand Californian at Disneyland and at Animal Kingdom. We'd consider something in the MK area too, but the CR doesn't "speak" to us.

I would love to add on at BCV at some point. Love SAB and the World Showcase is my favourite part of WDW. Something small, less than 100 and we would use it only every other year.

We just purchased 160 points for SSR and are expecting to add 2 more contracts of 160 points, for the next two resorts (hoping for Cont., Poly or AKl) We have 3 boys so our thought is that even if we aren't able to enjoy the next 48 years of ownership(we are in our late 40's)they will each have the same number of points in seperate contracts to enjoy with their families. This should also get us to a point in the next several years where we can make multiple trips, bring family or even gift out some time to friends, family. If new resorts aren't planned in the next 3 to 5 years we will be happy to add on at SSR, but would enjoy the variety with different resorts. We aren't interested in the older resorts because of length of contracts although we may try them all out at some much later point in time.

I should also add that if the pool heat policy doesn't become reasonable all of the above will be subject to change, I am sure we could find some other timeshare that would be happy to take our money. We chose Disney because of the quality and ease of vacation. We are getting to a point in our lives that we are looking for more of a resort experience and less of a commando experience. (Our next trip will be our 10th) I guess I am saying that ,as with most things in life, it is all subject to change especially if I start feeling unappreciated for my commitment of both vacation time and money.

We need at least 2 more 100 pt contracts as we will have 3 children to pass down to.

We are expecting twins in July and purchased our original 160 based on studio accommodations.

Having said all this, unless the pool heating policy changes, there will be no more add-on's for us.

We would love to do an add-on at VWL but it really makes no sense for us to do that. We split our vacation time between DVC and MVCI (3 weeks each). So any purchase would require a sale and that is not likely.

We were planning on buying approx. 200 points at each of the other non-SSR resorts, but now that we hear that they are icing down the pools to the bitter cold temperature of 80 degrees, we're reconsidering.

;) :lmao: ;)

Just heard from a reliable source that Disney is changing the name of SAB at the beginning of May. Apparently, there is quite the event planned as the new moniker is revealed:

Glacier Bay

The old shipwreck slide will be closed during the summer months as it is re-themed into an icebreaker.

Currently, WDW is preparing for this even by lowering all pool temperatures to help promote the re-naming. Management is currently trying to determine how to best deal with the increase in unwanted pool hopping that will no doubt result from this change.

BTW, I am waiting to buy into either AKV or DL. Though the Grand Floridian would be nice also.
