The economy, healthcare, and getting out of Iraq
Except for taxes, I don't have one. No matter where they stand on everything else, I'll vote for them if they let the American people keep the money they work for.
After taxes, I think they should just butt out of everything else. It's none of their business.
Fix the roads, protect the country and get the hell out of the way.

Keeping religion out of government.
Keeping abortion and contraception safe, legal and available.
Ending the mess in Iraq and restoring some credibility to our reputation abroad.
Ending the death penalty.
Increased gun control.
Ending NCLB.

There are other candidates to vote for other then republican and democrat. If I remember correctly there were 8 presidential candidates on the ballot last election.
I spent a LOT of time thinking about this question yesterday. It's really hard for me to point to one or two issues because so much is interrelated. Health care is important to me, but that's tied to a concern for the poor and the middle class that I believe has been sorely lacking. I want to vote for someone who believes that we ALL matter, not just the folks with the big wallets. The war in Iraq is a very important issue for me and I cannot vote for someone who thinks everything is just dandy the way it's going. However, that is also tied to the larger issue of what America's role should be in foreign policy and how we protect ourselves against terrorism. Illegal immigration is wrong, but my focus is on punishing the people that hire illegals, not on the illegals who come looking for better jobs. As for the big social issues-I don't believe you can legislate abortion away. I want fewer abortions, heck I'd like no abortions, but making a law isn't going to stop it. Society's attitude has to change, medicine has to change and a law isn't going to do that. I want equal rights and opportunity for everyone, it's not just about gay marriage, it's about making sure that all Americans have the ability to live a healthy, happy life without the government getting in the way.
Taxes big time. I don't feel the government needs more of my money I want to keep it and choose what I spend it on. I love when people complain about taxes yet keep voting in people that will do nothing but keep them high or raise them.
