While that is true (at least for the first half of 2007), I think you would agree with me that the violent crime rate is still far too high?

Any crime rate is too high. I'm heartened however to see the numbers now as compared to 10 years ago in most of the major cities. I would never ride the subway in Manhattan without apprehension at night in the old days, but now I wouldn't think anything of it. Do something about the illegal handguns and it'll drop even more, but that's another debate altogether.

New York's statistics are excellent, I'll give you that. Last I heard (Dec 23),they had recorded 479 homicides for the year. That is down from nearly 2250 per year in the early 1990s. Amazing really.

Taxes (any candidate who is talking about raising them is out for me! My salary hasn't gone up to pay for the taxes and gas that I have to pay)

Homeland security (protect borders & ports)

Immigration

Supporting our military (technologically & monetarily. Our troops need the best of the best in technology, weaponry, and protection. They also deserve a big pay raise & benefits)

Getting away from our dependence on foreign oil

Dennis is a dumb person. Dumb, dumb, dumb. But the old ladies in Parma just love him. I shudder to think anyone could be so dumb as to allow Dennis to lead them, much less the country. The man is an idiot!

She was asked if she felt guilty taking what the US is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn't bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

The CARIBE administration was asked about their program and if you ARE a US citizen, you don't qualify for their program."

Indeed.

If we're gonna continue to "allow" illegal immigrants to participate in such programs, then we should allow access to anyone and everyone regardless of their nationality. No restrictions for anyone.

But that wouldn't be my preference.
