What are your drop dead issues?

There are SOOO many..

1. Economy

2.Iraq (ie getting our ppl OUT of this quagmire)

3. Healthcare

4. Education.. I think that EVERYONE in America (like other very developed countries) should have access to free higher learning (at least at a community college), not a cop-out 2k grant...Woooh..I can afford all of 3 credit hours AND a book with that, thank you Uncle Sam...

5. Better stuff for families (ie more payed leave for pregnant women/women just given birth...etc etc.) Watching documentaries about other industrialized Western nations is quite an eye opener in this regards.

Immigrations, Economy/ Gas (our state is a mess at over 7% unemployment) the war.

Wow, a voting Wheel of Time fan!

No seriously, I got what you meant, I just had to poke fun.

That's the first thing I thought too, look at my name. :lmao:

Gay rights, Iraq, abortion and anyone who feels the need to bring their personal religion into the government are deal breakers fro me.

Iraq and all the fallout from it, Immigration reform, health care, protecting jobs in America, and that's just my short list.

robust national security policy (I include immigration reform under this umbrella)
free market principles
smaller government

The social/cultural issues, while I have strong opinons on some of them, don't make much of a difference to me in the voting booth.

Iraq (out, please)
Healthcare Costs
The Environment (someone who acknowledges it actually exists, please)
Keeping Religion out of the bedroom (and the classroom)
Appointing Judges that don't turn our Supreme Court into a venue for overturning the meager progress this country has made on social issues
Education
More Welfare Reform

Not all are deal breakers, but are important issues to me.

Anyone who threatens the separation of church and state or believes that gay Americans should have fewer rights than the straight ones are absolutely "NO" in my book.
Illegal immigration is another BIG issue because I think if they fix that then maybe a lot of other things (like education and healthcare) won't be the disaster they are right now. The money being used to educate and treat illegals is a tremendous amount of money that could be used for American citizens. Just stop by any school or hospital in TX and you will see what I mean.
The war is my other BIG issue. What a mess.:sad2:

Taxes...cut 'em!

I do mean this respectfully Jimmie.

The odds of the new POTUS cutting taxes is slim to none. Especially with the tab on Iraq getting close to 700 Billion dollars. With the huge deficit that has occurred and both Iraq and Afghanistan no where close to standing on their own two feet, a tax break would seen highly unlikely. Tax increases on the other hand almost seem a sure thing, especially with the deficit being as high as it is. I don't see how it could be pulled off from a reality standpoint.

let's see....i guess this is my top 4:
1. the economy
2. education
3. iraq (bring our soldiers home, quickly but responsibly)
4. immigration

And I mean this respectfully too. Tax policy has much more to do with the current state of the economy than with the current deficit. And both parties agree on that. If economic growth continues to slow, a tax increase would also be a non-starter, even by a Democratic president. The deficit is quite manageable, compared to where it's been in the past, as a percentage of GDP. And that percentage is what really matters. The absolute number is statistically meaningless.

1.) Privacy. Including, but not limited to, soverignty over my own body.
2.) Separation of church and state
3.) Civil rights and liberties
4.) Fiscal responsibilty
5.) Health care reform
6.) Economic development.

I'm not 100% sure I consider myself an "issues" voter, though. I want a candidate that is intelligent, humble, compassionate, but a believer in personal responsibility. I want someone dedicated to the development of America, not seeking the presidency as a vanity project or to line their own pockets. I want a president who is progressive and forward-thinking, open to new ideas and the next great opportunity, not stuck in an old-fashioned "the world is flat, and this is how we've always done it" throwback loop. I want a leader who can tolerate disagreement and dissent, and can even admit to being wrong or that a course correction is needed, not one that digs his heels in the mud and stubbornly refuses to see what is plain. I want freshness and optimism and hope, not divisiveness and fear-mongering. I want better than what we've got now.

Religion, absolutely. Make it a part of your platform and you can kiss my vote goodbye.

FREE WDW VACATIONS FOR ALL!!!!!!:thumbsup2

1. Health care reform (I don't want any form of socialized medicine)

2. Education

3. Taxes/Economy

I admit I have a few that I just can not give up on... too bad with our flawed two party system there is not another choice for those of us who don't walk right down the blue or the red. Wish it was more like many European countries where there are many different parties... allows for the people to really vote what they want instead of having to pick the second best...

But yea, my issues:

- Right to Choose
- Environmental Issues
- Gay Rights (this is a current issue for me... I am not gay, but I will have nothing to due with a "leader" who is unwilling to give people basic rights)

There are other candidates to vote for other then republican and democrat. If I remember correctly there were 8 presidential candidates on the ballot last election.

You tell me you're going to raise my taxes, & you just lost my vote. We need to make the Bush tax cuts permanent & REDUCE SPENDING!

Except for taxes, I don't have one. No matter where they stand on everything else, I'll vote for them if they let the American people keep the money they work for.

After taxes, I think they should just butt out of everything else. It's none of their business.

Fix the roads, protect the country and get the hell out of the way.
