Yesterday I saw ad add for laundry pods and it took me back to when DD22 went away to college. I bought her a big container of Tide laundry pods to take to school, because I felt they’d be more convenient for her to use than powder or liquid. When I bought them I felt they were expensive, but most things that are more convenient to use normally cost more money. I know many people really love laundry pods, but I’m not sold on them. I liked them for DD22 for college, but now that she has her own apartment and buys her own laundry soap, she no longer uses them. I am curious if you all use them though, but let’s first get some laundry pod info………..

When it comes to overdosing, this is what I don’t understand - when you do different load sizes, how do you know if you have to much or to little. With liquid detergents, I can see and control how much I’m using. For those that use pods, do they have liquid laundry soap too? I guess we’ll soon find out. Let’s talk about laundry pods today and give us your soapy good answer today……

Do you use laundry pods?
If yes……is it the only thing you use for laundry?
If no…….do you also use laundry liquid or laundry powder?
(multiple choice)

*I know some of you don’t do your laundry (my DH doesn’t do his laundry, because I do it), so please post what your spouse or whoever does your laundry uses. If you don’t know, then no worries, just vote that you don’t do your laundry - thanks

For Me……I have never used laundry pods. I’m perfectly ok with using liquid detergent and I have no desire to change. If I ever needed to do laundry when traveling, I would consider using them then. I don’t like doing laundry on vacation, so it’s something I currently never do, so I won’t be buying any laundry pods anytime soon.

Don’t have used them for years when I had big loads of laundry to do I use a pod I’ve never had any issues with them when I go on vacation I take them with me now if I have a small load of laundry to do I will use liquid because a pod would be too much soap for a small load so that’s why I have liquid but I happen to like them a lot now that they have laundry sheets I’m considering trying those if memory serves me right I thought they had those years ago so I would like to use those but again I would think for a small load you would need liquid because it would be too much for a big load

I stopped using laundry pods about six years ago. We are a liquid detergent household.

Always use liquid laundry detergent, never used the pods and no interest. Seems they are a more pricey product for no real advantage. Same for the dishwasher.

Have never used powder detergent in either the laundry or dishwasher. Can recall when my mom used it many years ago since it was less expensive, but never seemed to fully dissolve and left a residue behind that would accumulate overtime. In the dishwasher, the powder would tend to scratch glassware due to whatever undissolved/gritty materials it contained which was never a problem with any type of liquid detergents.

Pods are too expensive. I use liquid detergent. I have some pods that I use for traveling but not for every day. I also have laundry sheets that are great for traveling. They are lightweight and small. And the sheets can be cut into smaller pieces and used to wash bathing suites in the sink at a hotel.

I switched from liquid to powder many years ago for budgetary reasons. We did use pods occasionally when camping. Then I switched to pods at home a few years ago. DH was helping with laundry at that time and it was easier for him to understand instead of how much detergent + how much bleach/whitener/color saver + how much softener and which goes where. He no longer helps with laundry but DD does and pods are easier for her as well. I agree they are more expensive and I may eventually switch back to powder or liquid.

when you do different load sizes, how do you know if you have to much or to little.
A small load uses 1 pod. Most of my loads use 2 pods. A really big or really dirty load uses 3.

No pods... just wasteful and expensive. I use dye/scent free laundry detergent, a color-catcher sheet to trap dyes that wash out of our clothes, and liquid fabric softener. I take an all-in-one laundry sheet when traveling so I don't have to worry about schlepping liquids on a plane.

We used to be strictly liquid but found that we use a lot less with pods, which saves us a lot in the long run. We get ours in bulk at Costco which saves even more. It also is so much easier if you need to do laundry when traveling, which seems to be the norm for us with our extensive sports travels. Even before that, we often took trips that were up to 3 weeks long. While I tend to pack a lot of clothing, long vacations like that pretty much guarantee a need to do laundry on the road and it's much cheaper if you can just bring all of your provisions from home.

I use Tide pods for my clothes and Dreft liquid for my great-granddaughter's baby clothes. I sometimes use Woolite for more delicate items. We do a lot of laundry and I just do not want to deal with the mess of liquid detergent.

We've found pods to be easier, more convenient, less messy, and sometimes even more economical overall than liquid or powders. With skin issues in the family, they're simple to pack and bring with us on vacation when we're doing our own laundry - don't need to guess what's going to be provided through DVC or other locations. It's also way simpler when there are little ones who want to 'help' with a load of wash!!

We have some pods, but generally just use liquid detergent. I think we're still working through leftover Tide pods that we bought the boys for college (Costco sized ;) )
