Just finished Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. It was ok. Parts of it were really interesting, but then it was kind of weird at the same time. Her books tend to be like that for me. Kind of heavy on the controversial Christian themes...not sure how I feel about that as a Christian woman. :confused3

My friend gave me a huge bag of "beach reads"....started A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand at the beach the other day. Not too far into it, but so far it's a no-brainer! :thumbsup2

Reading Shadow Dance by Susan Anderson. It's OK, but a little too "jump into bed" for me.

Anything in the same spirit as Vampire Diaries and Vampire Academy?

Just got back from the lake. Didn't get as much reading done as I would have liked. That's the problem with going on vacation with my kids! They always seem to want my attention.

Anyway, I finished "One True Thing" which I really loved, in a sad, bawl my eyes out kind of way. Next up was Agatha Christie's "Sleeping Murder" which is the book club book for August. We meet on Thursday, and I'm hosting, so I really needed to read it. Surprisingly, it was one that I hadn't read before, and I really enjoyed it! I love a good Agatha Christie, and this was definitely one of her good ones!

Now, I'm halfway through Philippa Gregory's "The White Queen." I am really enjoying it. I hope to finish it sometime this weekend. I have a lot of other books to read afterwards, and I'm anxious to get to them!

I'm reading "Love in a Cold Climate" by Nancy Mitford. I read "The Pursuit of Love" a couple of weeks ago and love her writing style.

Was "Meh" about Laure Notaro's first book but moved on to the second: Autobiography of a Fat Bride. So far this one is better.

I picked up light-trash Song of Scarabaeus by Sara Creasy. It's okay so far. Had pre-ordered and just received the paperback Fantasy in Death by J.D. Robb, so that's next. Then something substantial; A House for Hope: The Promise of Progressive Religion for the Twenty-First Century by John A. Buehrens and Rebecca Ann Parker.

I've started The Castaways by Elin Hillenbrand. It's okay. I'm not much of a "fluff" reader but I've got NOTHING to read. The last few books have been bombs. I'm on hold for 4 books at the library. It's been weeks, I don't think I'll ever get them.

I finished that a week ago. NOT my favorite. I thought it was meh. I have liked her other stuff, however.

Finished Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok. Has anyone read this one?

I'm halfway thru Two Rivers by T. Greenwood.

I finished "The White Queen" on Saturday, and I really enjoyed it! Maybe it's because I have studied that time period extensively, and played the part of Elizabeth Woodville in productions of "Richard III", but I found it well written! I can't wait for "The Red Queen!"

Now I'm reading "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. Just started it, so I really don't have an opinion, yet.

Currently reading "A Storm of Swords" by George R.R. Martin. Just recently finished "A Clash of Kings" from the same series. Can I just say, I love this man's prose?

Also recently finished "Tongues of Serpents" by Naomi Novik and the entire Scott Pilgrim saga.

True Colors by Doris Mortman is next on my list. I've never read one of her books so I hope it's good.

What kind of genre are his books? Fantasy, suspense?

Fantasy military, maybe?

I read Book 4 in 2005, and so the whole series has gotten hazy in my memory.
