About ready to finish up with Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen.

I think I will read Escape next by Carolyn Jessup.

The Beautiful and the Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I'm in a classic lit spree.

Honeysuckle Summer by Sherryl Woods. Love Sherryl Woods, she's so dependable-within the first few pages you know who's going to get together.

Working my way through The Actor and the Housewife, by Shannon Hale. It's a really different book. Half the time I enjoy it and half the time I can't wait for it to end.

I'm also reading Dracula in Love, by Karen Essex which is the classic story told from Mina's point of view. Again, I go in spurts of enjoying it and wanting it to be over. Neither are gripping me much as I want.

Currently reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. Haven't seen the movie yet, but the book seems pretty predictable in what is going to happen.

Before that I read Come Take My Heart by Mary Higgins Clark. Not one of her better books. In fact, I thought the ending was terrible. I felt like the book was just thrown together just so another one could be written & thrown on the shelves.

Been having withdrawal from Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series:love::love:

So I am reading her Tall Dark and Dangerous series.......HOT HOT HOT:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

How can you not love a Navy Seal:worship::worship:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

I just finished, "Sh*t My Dad Says" .... I was laughing out loud I almost peed my pants :lmao: ... if you want something to make you laugh and lift your spirits I would recommend this book!

Also reading the Bogleheads' Guide to Retirement. Great book with a wealth of info. I got it from the library, but I am going to break down and buy it.

Another one I have started is called the Ultimate Cheapskate's Road Map to True Riches ... just started it ... so far, so good.

I started The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery for my book club. So far, I'm not liking it. The author is trying to be too erudite in her writing style. Then again, it may be the translator's fault since it was written in French.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind erudite novels. A Separate Peace by John Knowles comes to mind as a great one. This is erudite for erudite's sake. KWIM?

I just started reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. My aunt raved about it, so I'm hoping it's as good as she says it is!

I'm so glad to hear this! I really didn't like "Hedgehog". It was a real disappointment to me, as I really wanted to like it.

I finished "Shiver" by Maggie something or other. Not really that good.

Now, I'm reading Anna Quindlen's "One True Thing." It's really good, but I'm having a really hard time with it. I lost my mother 2 years ago, and this book brings the whole thing back. I keep having to put it down, as I bawl. I'm determined to see it through.

Next up is a week of camping at the lake. My bag is stocked with books to read, so I don't think I'll get bored!

Just had to stop by and say thanks to those who recommended: The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I had been lurking around the boards and stopped in here to see what everyone is reading. I just finished up the: The Drake Sisters series by Christne Feehan. So I was looking for something else that might hold my attention. Not that I don't have a zillion books sitting around :rolleyes1 Anyway, I picked up Hunger Games and could not put it down. I was so mad at myself that I didn't go ahead and pick up Catching Fire. I did nothing but, read all weekend. I'm almost done with Catching Fire and I have to wait until Aug. to get the next one????? Darn!
Glad I picked up The Passage by Justin Cronin.

My choices are a mixture of what my DS12 & DD11 recommend and what I choose.

So far this summer I've read:

"The Hunger Games", more young adult but very well done
"Catching Fire", the equally entertaining sequal

Then I picked up Russell Brand's "Booky Wook" and it was positively savage, an interesting view into a life spinning wildly out of control. At times very introspective and lucid & other times completely devoid of reason, both in the stories being told and the writing style. I really like the actor but WOW, I was not ready for that at all.

Next I read "After Ever After" which was poignant and well done with some fun thrown in.

Next was "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo"which was very wordy with too many names at first, but then it picked up. I really liked the skilled character development. Very good.

At the moment I am trudging through Chelsea Handler's "Are you there Vodka it me Chelsea". I like her TV show's irreverent slant on things and find myself :rotfl: all the time. But the book itself is a bit of a bore. Of course, being that she's a good comedian it delivers the expected funny stories. However, everything in between the funny tends to be just so obnoxiously self centered about the most vapid things. I would put it down but I have a compulsion to finish any book I start. I should be more careful about what I pick up, but by tonight it will be all over.

I think I'll follow some recommendations here with "The girl who kicked the Hornet's Nest" next for me, then maybe Drew Carey's book. I am also looking forward to the Chris D'lacey series my DS recommended, the series sounds charming, I think Icefire is the first.

Oh - I love books and am always reading something - so glad I stumbled on this thread.

I just finished reading "Walt Disney - the Triumph of the American Imagination" by Neal Gabler. It's actually my husband's book, but I finished the ones I took with me on vacation so he gave me his to read. I enjoyed it, but am kind of sad I read it. I prefer to think of Walt as the "Uncle Walt" that I grew up with instead of a man who had to do what he had to do in order to run his business the way he saw fit.

So now that I am done with that I am back to my stack of "The Cat Who...." books by Lillian Jackson Braun.

Although, while looking for something in my bookcase my old copy of "Roots" seemed to be calling my name. Funny, it hasn't done that in years.

I'm having trouble getting into anything I'm reading lately. I don't know what my problem is. :confused3

Right now I'm trying The Idiot Girls Action Adventure Club by Laurie Notaro.

I started Promise, Texas by Debbie Macomber this morning. Apparently this is the paperback book novel that put her on the top 15 bestseller list and paved the way for her Cedar Cove series.

I've picked up a couple of trash novels that I've simply had to ditch ... bad choices both.
