I'm having a second go at Outlander (the audiobook version). Funny how I must have glossed over the more... (ahem) .. colorful? parts the first time I read it. In audiobook, you can't exactly skim over them.

Before that I finished The Book Thief (from all the recommendations here) and enjoyed that a great deal. And before that it was The Girl Who Chased the Moon. Also quite good. :goodvibes

I'm reading "Never Let Me Go" by Ishiguro on the recommendation of my goddaughter. It's interesting, but a little confusing (deliberately so). Now, Emily the Strange is on deck, unless I decide to read "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" first.

I'm so glad I found this thread :) I'm always reading something and can't wait to read some of the recommendations here.

Just finished reading the first four books of the Weekend Warriors series by Fern Michaels. I'm currently reading the fifth one, Sweet Revenge, and think I'll need a break from them after it. I'm also reading So Many Books, So Little Time: A Year of Passionate Reading which is very interesting so far.

I read So Many Books . . ., too. I got some good recommendations from it. I hope you enjoy it!

I just got finished reading "One Second After" by William Forstchen. It is a fiction story, but based on what could happen if there was an Electromagnetic Pulse(EMP) over the US. It was a good book, but also sad. Made me really paranoid that this could happen.

Anyone have any really good mystery recommendations?

I just finished a mystery called Shadow Dance that I kind of liked. It's by Susan Mallery, who usually does romance. Otherwise, my mystery taste is more of the Cozy Mystery type. Lots of laughter, little or no blood, and everything ends "happily ever after". Right now I just started my kind of mystery, Fatal Feng-Shui.

I read a book by Terri Blackstock called Last Light based on the same premise. Can you imagine not having anything electrical work at all? Definately a thought provoker.

I didn't realize that Hugh Laurie was an author. I'll have to look for this. Thanks!

Same here, I just saw it as a recommendation at my local independent bookstore, so I grabbed one of the used copies :). It's funny because it sounds like House wrote it but it was written in 1998 (I think) before House was even a thought in Hugh's mind.

So far it's interesting. I like it, I had to put it on hold though because it's finals week!

I can't imagine, but the book made me really think about it. It is especially scary that most pharmacies have so little of medications on hand. Without transportation, even if there are meds somewhere, they would not be able to get them to you. Same thing for food; not to mention that anything fresh would spoil without refrigeration. Scary stuff, and made even more scary because it is a real threat.

I just read Dean Koontzs Life Expectancy. The funny thing is, the main character was born the day Nixon resigned and today is the anniversary. What are the odds?? Corny book, but I really liked the characters. They were written well.

I had to put down True Colors by Doris Mortman. By page 178 out of 601, I began skipping paragraphs so I knew that I just wasn't interested in this book. It's going in the "take to the used book store pile".

I've begun Vision in White by Nora Roberts. It's more to my liking!

What kind of genre are his books? Fantasy, suspense?

Fantasy, but not popcorn paperback fantasy. Intrigue laden, politically motivated, backstabbing oh-my-god-did-they-seriously-just-kill-off-that-character fantasy.

Yesterday I got to one of those OMG parts and have been depressed and inconsolable ever since...yes, about a character in a book.:sad1:

OMG, that was one of my very favorite books ever. I ordered the next one in the series, Bed of Roses, and I can't wait for it to show up.

I decided to read "Stiff" by Mary Roach. It's a history (sort of) of the cadaver. Very well written, so far, and compellingly interesting, too!
