Hey fellow Canadians! It's probably getting close to the time for me to book my air travel for December to Orlando... I was wondering what airlines you guys tend to book with? Where will I find better prices? I can't download DING either because I have a Mac at home and i'm not sure how work would feel about me putting it on their PC... anyone? Bueller?

I went to expedia and it didn't show me Southwest and I wanted to have a side by side comparison ;o(

Is it worth waiting for this DING? Does it ever happen for Buffalo to Orlando? Can I get it for non-stop flights? Will I get burnt waiting for a Ding that never happens and then have to purchase flight like 1 week before my trip???

How long of a drive is it to the Buffalo airport from Downtown Toronto? Anyone ever had problems at Customs there? I fear them - I had a bad experience in June 2002 crossing into Quebec from Vermont. They thought I was a pot smoking hippy and made me pull over. They were picking up lettuce from my big mac on the floor and saying dumb things like "what do we have here?" I was like eat it and find out.

Tell me the good bad and the ugly!

Dumb question - is there a Tim Horton's stateside on the way or should I try to get my fix here before I go?

We flew Northwest last march break. Much cheaper than flying from Canada, but no direct flights. Border crossing was very easy in both directions. It took us 1 and a half hours from just west of Toronto. The Buffalo airport is very easy to get around. We plan to fly nexr march from Buffalo but we want to try SW so we can get a direct flight. Have a great trip.

We've flown both AirTran and SW from Buffalo several times to Orlando, LA and Las Vegas all with good experiences.

Thank you disnygirl. DSis and I are travelling AirTran to MCO in :bounce: less than a month, and we've been seeing a lot of "don't fly AirTran" :earseek: posts. It's good to know that someone has had positive experiences, and has made the connecting flight in Atlanta with no problems. Feel free to tell us ALL about the boarding, the flight, the transfer and anything else you can think of. We both like to know what we are in for! :teeth:

You should try www.sidestep.com you will have to let it install to your computer but it is a handy travel cost comparison tool. You can put in your departure and destination cities then it searches all the airlines and lists all the prices from cheapest to most expensive.

1. Does sidestep.com show SWA flights???

2. We flew BUF-MCO with Indendence air and they were great. No non stop flights though and we had to change plans in Washington. It was fine though. This year hoping to fly a non-stop with SWA.

I flew on United last January and AA in April out of Buffalo. I think I saw a Timmy HoHo's on the New York side, but I'm not 100% sure... it was super early in the morning...

The drive there took about 90 minutes from Toronto (I live Downtown) and I had no problem at the border.

Dh and I have flown many times over the last 5 years or so. He last went in March to Las Vegas. I can't remember any problems. Or if we had any they must have been minor since I don't remember them :)

Cafe Mocha anyone!!! We have lots of Tim Hortons over here, try this site and type in the address of 1060 Wehrle, Williamsville, NY, even shows a map where the closest one the the airport is.

Also, try this link to the Buffalo Airport, there is a page for Canadian travelers.

We flew Southwest in February, direct flight, no problems.

OP Hi! We've flown SWA and Delta out of Buffalo. No problems on either. SWA however does have direct flights.

It'll take you about 2 1/2 to get to Buffalo. We live on the west side of TO and it's never been longer than that. Border crossing is easy and that's your customs too!

Pro for expedia.ca it shows your flights in Canadian $ but TIP: once you find a flight go directly to the carrier website. It'll be a few dollars cheaper if you book online directly on their website.

I suggest you go directly to SWA website southwest.com and look around there. You can get an email sent to you of their specials and therefore don't always need the DING! Also check in with Jetblue and AirTran. They seem to be the airlines with the consistently lowest airfares but United, Delta will also have special fares as well. Most of their sites have "special offer" sections. It's not necessary to visit everyday but once a week at least.

Also if you get an early morning flight my suggestion is to travel to Buffalo the day before. The Comfort Suites is very close to the airport, provides continental breakfast and shuttle. You can also leave your vehicle there for upto 15 days included in the cost of your room. I think in total it's $100US a night but they take CAA/AAA membership discounts.

Hope that helps. Good Luck and have fun! I'm waiting for Oct $49 deals....cross your fingers for me :)

We have flown JetBlue from Buffalo to NYC, and we LOVED it. We also flew from BUF to MCO (on SouthWest) a few years ago, and had no problems what so ever. I think with Jet Blue their "hub" (home terminal) is NYC so you may have to change planes in NYC.

You guys all rock!!!

Thanks so much for all the replies. I put the DING software on my boyfriend's computer after reading about people getting $49 fares on the transportation board with Southwest. I don't expect to get one, but I'll be happy if I do!

I'm so glad to hear there are in fact Tim Horton's on the US side... now if only we could get on at WDW.. LOL!!!

Fly both JetBlue and SWA. Not problems on either but JetBlue has personal TVs and was nicer. Had to change planes for both.
