Wow, @flyingdumbo127, it sounds like a wonderful solution to the flooring situation, and I hope it works out. I hope you can get the final extension you need.

@Pea-n-Me , glad the infection is behind you!

@Snowysmom, I really hope those grandchildren will be able to join you!!

I’m doing well. It’s much cooler than the end of May should be in Cape May. We have nothing done in the vegetable garden, but I hope to at least get cucumber seeds in this weekend.

The water irises continue to bloom!

Good morning, sunny and heading for the mid 60's. It's 55 right now. The winds were terrible again yesterday and we had a few showers, but nothing major. But the ground was saturated, and still I heard a couple of lawn mowers going. Nothing I hate more than having wet grass stuck on the bottom of the mowers, lol

I didn't do a lot of anything yesterday, I think I needed a day to just relax. I worked on a puzzle, worked on a diamond painting, and watched some tv while chatting with my friend, planning our next getaway.

Today there's a few household chores to get done, and if the grass really dries out, I'll mow. If not, I'll wait until tomorrow.

@Snowysmom I'm happy for Kenny that the agreement is final and that it worked out for both of them.

Mona, if you signed the contract saying no foam underlayment, I hope they let you change it. Otherwise cancel.

Have a good Saturday

Good morning dear friends. It's a little chilly right now but it's early. Sigh it sounds like J from next door keeps trying to open my door. He came in the other night. Thankfully V, our CNA, was in here with my roommate M. I wish J all the best. He should be supervised! Anyway, I hope all of you enjoyed a good night sleep, I did.

Big hug dear Snowysmom and thank you. Honesty is of utmost importance to me always. Empire did seem upfront. Dad will carefully read the contract! Your grandkids are so very blessed to have you. Kiddos need to come first always. I truly hope WDW will be a fun family time for all of you.

Dear Bobbi, reading that you are feeling good brightened my early morning as did your relaxing dear Lynn and of course giving thank to God that you and your grandkids have each other dear Snowysmom.

Great point dear Lynn. Dad or I will be contacting Josh from Empire today. I will update later.

Wishing all of you a great start to the weekend. I will check in again a little later.

I was just asking DH about the pad underneath the floors, ie is it necessary? Online there seems to be varying opinions depending on what the floors are like that you’re putting them down on, ie are they flat and clean without imperfections, etc. And it will depend on the flooring you use.

The flooring we used did not require an additional pad because it has padding built into the bottom of each plank.

So on our side, which was installed by a local professional flooring store crew, we have no added pad. DH went to give it to them and they said no, not needed. If you recall, we’d put this flooring first in our in law apt for DD, and our installer was someone DS knew’s cousin 🤣 who has a FT job in law enforcement but does home improvement on the side (and did a good job even though he didn’t show up half the time, lol) did use a pad, probably not knowing the pad was built into the planks. So we had bought some padding and had some leftover when we started our side of the house, but it wasn’t necessary. (We also had five boxes of matching flooring leftover which helped with our price, too.)

I didn’t even know about all of that until I asked DH about padding just now. :lmao:

This was the color we used, Burbank Oak:

  • Attached pad reduces sound and increases comfort and for additional comfort, noise reduction and moisture protection, install with SMARTCORE Soft and Sound™ underlayment item #1191177

*So check to see if the flooring the Empire is using already has a pad attached.*

Here’s ours, with a little boy saying hello:

Aw paws and love dear Pea to sweet Toto and Grady, too. Always loving prayers for you. Dad did email Josh and will call him once we get approval from Sonia on Tuesday. Thank you so much for the floor information. Burbank Oak is nice. Dad went to Costco in Burbank a few days ago. I wonder if they had Burbank Oak floors, they should. May your floors always be good to your feet, my friend :)

Pea Love the picture of Toto. He is such a gentleman.

Good morning. The sun is out. So nice to see. Temps will be around 60 which is nice with the sun. Yesterday it was raining off and on. I went to Kenny's for a cookout. It was nice to see everyone. The kids asked to go to Disney this summer. Kenny has not told them and will not until everything is settled. He was noncommittal to them. Today I am heading to Jeff's. It will be nice that the kids can go out and play.

Have a nice Sunday.

Good morning. 53 now, sun is out, going to mid 60's. It was cloudy most of yesterday morning, and windy. I waited until the sun came out and stayed out and got all of the yardwork done before noon. The winds kept the little gnats away (the worst part of mowing when it's hot out). I was really tired when I came in, but felt accomplished that the yard looked so nice. I did laundry when I came in and now I don't have to do anything until Tuesday, lol.

Summer texted me saying she had another flareup this week, that's why I hadn't heard from her. But that doesn't explain the last 2 weeks, lol. She was going to do flood cleanup and call me when she took a break, but never heard from her.

@Snowysmom I think Kenny is doing the right thing not telling the kids about a potential Disney trip until he's talked to their mother. No point in getting them excited and having to disappoint them if she doesn't agree. As a child of divorce myself, I know how hard it is to be pulled back and forth.

Going to put some baby back ribs in the crockpot for dinner tonight. Got some fresh strawberries, asparagus, spinach and leaf lettuce at the farmers market yesterday morning, so I'll fix some of those for sides.

Have a nice Sunday

Good morning dear friends.

I agree with you dear Lynn about Kenny. I love our patriotic Disney picture this morning, thank you, as always my friend for giving early cheer to my day through your wonderful daily pictures.

Dear Snowysmom, Disney trip prayers indeed. Have more grandkid fun my friend and enjoy some sun as well.

Congratulations, dear PollyannaMom. Get some rest today please, my friend and enjoy your prizes! What was something in the basket? :)

I am wearing a favorite pink and red stripe t shirt which is kinda patriotic :) Tomorrow I will wear a light blue T. I look forward to watching online worship and absolutely seeing dad later, too. Sunday joy with a hug to all. I will check back in later.

Good morning. I am also thankful to be an American and for the blessing of another new day. Thank you most deeply and extra today to all my Quacker family to those of you and your famiy members who have or are currently serving. God Bless You all.

What a long night :/ M, my roommate, kept me up most of it because she was yelling. She wasn't keeping herself safe and she definitely needed more care than she was getting. R, our kind CNA, spent the night in here keeping an eye on M and trying so hard to get her to calm down and tell her what was going on. M isn't very verbal. R, of course, also valiantly tried to get M to sleep for her sake and mine. I pray for M that she gets needed help. I think and R did, too, that she should go to the hospital. I pray to sleep well tonight, too. I did get extra exercise going around the facility during the night. Always positive. I prayed of course for M too which was a blessing.

Have a great day everyone. I will check back later.

Slipping thread save. Dad took this picture of the pretty purple jacaranda trees on our street a few days ago. I posted it in the gratitude thread and want to share with my Quacker family, too.

Dad left a little while ago. We had a nice Memorial Day visit. M, thank God, is calm and quiet. It does sound like what happened overnight was a medication (not taking) issue. I sure pray that is resolved now for both of our sakes.

Tomorrow will be a big day. I'm thankful God willing we will be able to move forward then. Dad is first needing to hear from Sonia that the owner approves our hiring Empire. Of course, should the owner surprise us with a financial contribution toward our new floors that would be fantastic. Once we have the okay, I will inform R of our floor installation and request to stay here until June 20th.

Dad prayers always appreciated more than I can say. I think he is really feeling overwhelmed by everything especially the floor work which will be a huge undertaking. I pray he is able to find some before and after help with organizing, putting away, setting back up and general house cleaning. This is something I can also ask R about.

Hugs to all always :)

@flyingdumbo127 I truly hope you hear good news from Sonia today that the landlord will contribute. Prayers for your Dad. He just needs to take it one thing at a time, go slowly, and take care. I find making a list and then crossing off things as I do them helps alot. You can see what you have accomplished and know what you still have to do. Lovely picture of the trees.

Good morning. It is 48 now with temps heading to the mid 70s. And the sun is out again! It will be a lake day today. Yesterday I did so much cleaning around the condo and got my clothes ready for the cruise. I feel better knowing I can just put them in the suitcase the day before. I do have to go into the office this week as my boss is out. And of course rain is in the forecast. I am going to ask if I can skip going in for June. Since I have a week off and need to do alot of catching up when I get back I would like to work from home all month. No one does my daily work when I am out.

Have a nice day.

Good morning, everyone!

Our Memorial Day ceremony here was good. I walked downtown for it, so I definitely got my exercise in yesterday! And I explored a new trail on the way home. Here are a couple of pics:

@flyingdumbo127, you asked about the basket I mentioned - it had mostly candy and goodies. I ate some of the raspberry chocolate bar last night, and it was delicious!

Good morning. Yesterday was the most beautiful weather day. Sunny, slight breeze, high temp hit 71. Today it's sunny, right now, but they're calling for showers later. 100% chance of rain tomorrow.

I sat on the deck reading for awhile yesterday, grilled chicken for dinner and had that with the potato salad I made.

Summer has to take her husband back to the work pick up spot today (4 hour drive each way), and they spent the last 3 days still cleaning up from the flood waters in and outside of the house. She keeps telling me she's going to call me, but she has yet to do so. I see exactly where this is going. She'll start only calling me when she needs something, but this time she'll find out that I'm not going to be the 'go to' person.

Mona, I really don't see the landlord helping with the cost of the floor from Empire (did you get the pad/no pad situation straightened out with them?). He refused to put new floors down so I don't see him contributing anything, sorry to say. Those are such pretty trees on your street!

@PollyannaMom Pretty pictures, looks like a nice walk home.

Have a good day everyone
