Apparently this was not a conspiracy theory. UA, DL & AA had/have select routes running fares that charged more on a per person basis for solo travelers than 2 or more travelers. DL & UA have backtracked since the backlash over the last couple days and removed those fares.

Check your fares my fellow solo travelers! None of mine were affected but this was apparently a thing. (And wowza at their example where they caught a fare where the solo flier was being charged more than 2 people combined on a UA flight!)

What are people "checking their fares" for? It's not like the airlines did anything illegal and one's entitled to a refund, or any kind of compensation, right?

And people were satisfied enough with the price to purchase in the first place.

What are people "checking their fares" for?…
I shoulda been more specific, guess that’s a IYKYK sorta situation… I cannot speak to AA but for DL & UA if you don’t buy basic economy you can change your flight and get the difference for drops back in a voucher for use one year from the original purchase. With both DL and UA you find a similar fare to the new price, change to that, and then change back to your original. You run the risk of losing the original of course but I’ve yet to not be able to flip back to what I want at the price I want. Or, if you have unbooked travel plans you can book the flight fresh, cancel the old one completely and apply your new voucher to the flights you hadn’t booked yet. For miles bookings the miles are just re-deposited back into your account with DL, idk UA. I’ve cancelled UA miles flights but never changed for a price drop.

And who is ever satisfied with the price they paid for a flight?! I always want a better price LOL. I begrudgingly book and then watch for drops. But, I travel enough I can make use of my vouchers without much issue.

Of course, that's assuming prices have dropped since original booking. lol.

Are you sure with DL, you need to do a "double change"? And just because another flight is cheaper doesn't mean the original will be. ;)
