We had a wonderful trip, as expected. Thought I would share a few thoughts and happenings
Airport: we used the Delta e-ticket kiosk on both ends of the trip and it sure was simple. Also, everyone was required to take off their shoes when going thru security, so sandals might be an option. It was a minor hassle to take off/put on tennis shoes.
VWL: wonderful!! Got to the hotel around 3:00 pm and they had our studio ready - 1514. It was on the first floor, right down the hall from the elevators (which we didn't need to use!) and about two doors down from the laundry (which we did use!!). Really convenient. The patio faced the walkway, so it was a short walk to the bus stop. We really liked the location. It was clean and in good repair. Got the two request made - non-smoking and non-disabled. It was a "dedicated" studio, in that there was no door connecting it to another room and it had two nice sized closets.
We did miss the king bed and in room laundry, but it worked just fine for us this trip. We find the VWL really quiet and relaxing.
Parks: Only used fast pass twice during the trip, once for Voyage of the Little Mermaid and once for Tower of Terror. We rode/did lots of attractions in all parks. There were more people as it got closer to Memorial Day (we did not actually leave until 5/25). We spent a day looking at and enjoying the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. We went to Blizzard Beach one day. We had never been and really enjoyed it. It was hot and we dodged rain drops every day.
New DVC merchandise: In the gift shop at VWL there were several new (at least they were to me!) items with the DVC logo on them: navy polo w/beige trim & logo; beige polo w/dk brown trip and logo; beige t-shirt VWL logo on front and large DVC logo on back; nice navy blue jacket; t-shirt with either DVC or VWL logo on the front and on the back is a picture of the front of the folder you get when you check in; a metal travel mug and a few other items.
Won't do again: On 5-23, we checked out of VWL and into the Courtyard by Marriott at Downtown Disney. Hey, it helped extend our trip and we used reward points, so the price was right - free! I was sad to leave VWL and won't do it again. Our room at the Courtyard was nice (it was on the 14th floor and you could see almost everything in the "world") but it wasn't home. DH and I agreed, we won't do it again. Guess you could say we're spoiled by Disney and the wonderfulness of it all.
If anyone has any questions you think I can answer, I'll be glad to do so. We had a really good time and I'm going to go get my member guide right now and see how many points for a February trip!!
