We nixed Boardwalk Inn...

we just returned yesterday from the BWVs
with 3 pools to choose from (we like the villas quiet pool, but the Inn pool is gorgeous also!), i can't imagine not staying at a resort b/c of the design of their pool (except the SAB pool at the B&Y clubs - that pool is just too much like a public city pool for us - horribly crowded and noisy).
BWI and villas are just an amazing place, with a plethora of things to do and see....quiet areas where we played with bunnies, had mom and daughter heart to hearts, read a book, and the bw at night with entertainment galore (during the day it is a beautiful oasis).

i remember being so envious of people that were able to get a room there years ago - the same awe we saw in so many faces, and the envy in their voices as we watched illuminations from our balcony or walked leisurely to our room (and no need to deal with crying children and sad adults that don't want to go back to their far off resort after an exciting night - our quiet haven is right above our heads). my family now is thrilled that we are one of the lucky ones that get to stay in the closet thing to heaven

For less that what we'd pay for a Mod when taxes are added on, we get a standard view studio that faces away from the BW, by renting points from a DVC member. With it comes a kitchenette that saves us time in the morning by grabbing breakfast there, and $$ and time when we return for lunch before hopping to WS. But don't let m talk anyone out of their clownaphobia, the fewer of you who want BW, the less demand and the easier it is for us to get it. Come to think of it, I actually saw the clown bite a kid as she exited the mouth in 2008. Beware!

The clown pool at the Boardwalk was a deal-breaker for us. It is just plain creepy! So, we stay at the Beach Club-our favorite anyway!

Oh, you people and your silly coulrophobia. Clowns are the best. In fact, I love Boardwalk just because of that clown. Clowns are creepy, mysterious and all around the best thing ever. and the wild animals at AKL will munch you up before your parents will even realize you're missing, there are real pirates ready to rip your heart out in the shipwreck at the BC, you will age at six times the normal rate while staying at OKW, mary poppins will turn little ones into stepford children and take them on a horrifying tour of all the chimneys in the lake buena vista area whilst at the GF, you will be covered in lava at the poly, and the CR is there only to make new animatronics out of unsuspecting first-time guests.

I almost nixed BWI because of the Clown - especially when I watched it spit out kids - but am so glad I found out about the two quiet pools they have at BWI. I won't go near the scary clown, but love the resort and its quiet pools.

I probably wouldn't completely count out this resort because of the clown, but I definitely think think the slide is creepy. I hate clowns and my youngest daughter does, too. The quote about the clown eating children was hilarious, though.

Ya try explaining what that noise was when your on the phone with your GF and it goes off because you walk by GF, "what the heck was that". Me, "umm that was the elephant by the pool at our resort I forgot it goes off when you walk by it". GF, "elephant? What kind of resort are you staying at". I had to take a picture with my phone and send it to her she didn't believe it was an elephant

This thread is beyond hilarious! We were planning our trip for last July. DD12 and I absolutely ruled out BWI because of that lunatic clown! For me, it's a life-long holdover from Poltergeist. 'Kid spitting clown' comment was hilarious as was 'BWI looks lovely. It can be lovely without me'. Bahahahaha!

We ended up choosing BC and are returning there this August! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

I get the theme and everything. But, seriously, what was Disney thinking with that freakazoid clown slide?!?!?!?!

Considering the clown pool is at the Boardwalk Villas, then yes I am surprised you nixed the Boardwalk Inn. You could have a great time there and never see the clown.

No. I don't have a "fear", per se, of clowns, but I don't particularly like that creepy thing leering at me while I am swimming and sunning.

I don't have a fear of clowns but we also have put the BW near the bottom of our list because of that creepy pool. It's not exactly the relaxing atmosphere we're going for. We would consider BW only if no other Epcot resort was available and we felt we must stay in that area for a particular trip. That thing is beyond ugly and resembles "IT" a bit too much!

The Boardwalk, carnivals, clowns.......are there no Bozo fans left out there ? I never knew so many people were afraid of clowns to me they were a happy part of my childhood memories, do you all avoid the circus too?

I actually do have a dislike for clowns. I tend to step away from the real things at parades and I don't think they are particularly funny at the circus. That being said, we own DVC at Boardwalk Villas. Sure, the "scary clown pool" is ... well ... scary but I ignore it the best that I can. When I go to the pool I sit near the bar and hot tub and have a sideways view of the clown. It's a lot less scary to look at the roller coaster detailing of the side of the slide.

I was once upgraded from a standard view to a preferred view of the main pool . Thank goodness Leaping Libations was between me and the clown.
