We nixed Boardwalk Inn...

Sorry, we're VERYYYY excited about our upcoming BW trip! Clown or no clown he wasn't even a factor. It's a GORGEOUS resort, AMAZING location and AWESOME restaurants. Nope, the clown never came up!;)

You will be sorry, the Boardwalk is a fantastic resort. You don't have to use the clown pool since there are two other pools at the resort. We stay at the BWVs every year and would never let a pool keep us away - the resort is way too nice. As for the noise level, we have never had any problem with the resort being noisy and we have had room views all over the place. It all depends on you and what you decide but I would not let the pool keep me from enjoying this great resort, especially when there are other pool options.

DH swears the clown looks just like the clown from "It" and it freaks him out.

One of our dd's was petrified of clowns for a long time so there is no way we could have stayed at BWI. Now they are not really afraid of clowns anymore but it does kind of creep us out.

I love the BWI and no clown could keep me away. OP, I'm not sure if this was in jest or not, so the only appropriate response I could think of is in Haiku form:

A scary clown slide
Now face your fears like a man
Slide out of his mouth

:lmao: THAT is classic.

In my best Seinfeld voice - "But I don't WANNA be a man!!!"

The original post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. The clown wasn't the only factor (we wanted to be close to MK), but I'll admit that it was A factor.

It does look like the clown from "IT," with a little of the clown from "Poltergeist" thrown in. And whoever said the stars in his eyes look a little like x's and that means death is onto something. I don't like clowns in general, but I usually don't have the intense aversion to them that I had the first time I saw this one. And I think the eyes may very well be the reason.

Awesome!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

We went on an Illuminations Cruise a few trips back. One of my kids saw the Clown slide and she said that it scared her. For some reason she was afraid of clowns and I have no idea why.

Some people really do have fears of clowns.

Later,
Dan

'Clown Barf!!!' is what you hear from my dd as she exits Mr Scary Clown's mouth. Too funny. And the thing that amazes me is that she had a horrible fear of clowns when she was younger....right up until she was 11 or 12, and we bought BWV as our home resort when she was 10..but for some reason, that clown didn't bother her.

I figure the more people that clown bothers, the more space I'll have at the pool!!:clown:

It was I that talked about the X's. When I first saw that picture of the clown slide years ago I honestly thought that's what they were and couldn't understand how Disney would do that. I actually had to look more closely at it. I seriously think if they replaced the stars with circles he wouldn't look so creepy.

Some day I hope to stay at BC/YC and I have visited BW many times. It's a nice place to visit, I just don't want to stay there. I guess I don't want my resort to be a place other people visit. It would distract from my relaxation time at my resort.

....I had a conversation with my husband just this past weekend about staying at BWI, YC or BC. I told my husband that while everything else about BWI looked and sounded fabulous, the clown really creeped me out--and I don't even have a fear or hatred of clowns in general, just this stupid clown.

My husband acted as if I was crazy. Boy oh boy-I can hardly wait to get home and show him THIS thread. :woohoo:

thanks!

It's pure unadulterated evil is what it is. I can't imagine seeing one of my children slide out of that wacko's mouth! :scared:

OMG!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I JUST took a sip of diet coke when I read this and almost spit it all over my computer. That is SOOOO hilarious!! I won't stay there either because of that freaky clown. It reminds me of those Chucky movies ....:scared1: One thing I hate more than heights, CLOWNS. (no offense to anyone out there that's a clown). I'm sure Boardwalk is lovely, but it's going to be lovely without me ! :lmao:

Or S/D. Honestly, I've never stayed at BW and don't think I'd like staying there and not because of the clown. It's a great place to visit, which many people do. I prefer a more quiet place and BW isn't that, especially if your room faces the boardwalk. The garden suites look nice, just wish they were elsewhere.

For less that what we'd pay for a Mod when taxes are added on, we get a standard view studio that faces away from the BW, by renting points from a DVC member. With it comes a kitchenette that saves us time in the morning by grabbing breakfast there, and $$ and time when we return for lunch before hopping to WS. But don't let m talk anyone out of their clownaphobia, the fewer of you who want BW, the less demand and the easier it is for us to get it. Come to think of it, I actually saw the clown bite a kid as she exited the mouth in 2008. Beware!

This thread is funny! :rotfl: I have this thing about clowns too. I don't think I am afraid of clowns...I just don't like them. Nonetheless, we are staying at BWI. I just may not be swimming in that creepy pool!

Me too! I hate clowns and that one really freaks me out... I cannot imagine swimming in that pool!

I dislike clowns with the best of you, but we stayed at a BWV over spring break a couple years ago. That roller coster themed slide is the best slide. :thumbsup2 Seriously. Better than GF slide, the Contemporary slide, better than the Volcano slide at the Poly, and loads better than the lame slide at BC.

What were the makers of Stormalong Bay thinking? Can you give me a curve? Anything?

I haven't tested the slide at AKL.

If you can get past the clown and don't drown in the deep water, (hey, relatively. For Disney anyway.) the pool at BWI is great.

Well, there is a lot more to dislike at the BWI than that horrible clown! :teeth:

We don't like ithe clown at all though. Neither do the young relatives we sometimes bring with us.

"He's gonna' eat me?!" That was the response of one of the little ones.

We've had more problems with staff and service there than any other resort. We've had more dirty and run down villas, ones that were so noisy we couldn't get the 2 year old down for a nap (THAT was fun) and ones that were so far from the lobby we reaaaaaaaally felt like we were walking to Kissimmee to find our room.

So, fortunately WDW has resorts for everyone, eh? ::yes::

We'll happily leave the BWI to those who love it!

Ok, I'll dare to be different and speak my mind.... I love the BWI and the clown does not bother me in the slightest. I just view it as part of the turn of the century boardwalk "circus" theming and leave it at that. It's a great resort and that slide is the best! So much fun! :cool1: I suppose it is a love it or hate it thing. Just my opinion. :)

BWI Slide - "They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!"

To the poster that said the villas are run down - they were all just completely renovated and are absolutely wonderful.
