We ate/drank whatever we wanted- a first time review!

Love the reviews so far! It is great to read reviews of children that don't care for the average kid's food. I have been a bit worried about that. Our youngest would prefer to eat off the adult menu. Since our 15yr old dd would rather have the kid's food, we figured they could just switch! :)

That is a great situation with your kids! The first time we took DD we did the meal plan and half the time I ended up switching my meal with hers. I ate a couple kids meals this time around and will be reviewing them, only CS restaurants.

So we headed to the Magic Kingdom Dec 19 and I had been trying without luck to get a reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern. We were in line for Winnie the Pooh when I decided to give it one last try, and SCORE, I got a 1:05 reservation!

I will start with DD6 since she went with the most boring...

Chicken Noodle Soup. I was shocked she ordered anything here, I had expected she wouldn't like anything and was prepared to grab her something. But she liked the soup so I got lucky!

For me I went with:

The Pilgrim's Feast. I love turkey dinner. This year I spent thanksgiving with my DH's dad and family and they don't do stuffing, so I was really ready for a traditional turkey dinner. This one was ok. The gravy was kind of odd, it didn't move. It was just thick and stuck to the turkey. It did't taste bad, just was odd. Under the turkey was the stuffing, it was a nice treat!! And the potatoes were good. It was all in all an ok meal, nothing great but no real problems...

And DH went with:

The Angus Chuck Cheeseburger, with the bacon, hold the cheddar, add lots of pickles (he love pickles, they brought him 3). Served with Tavern Fries. He loved this burger, used the phrase "this is my kind of burger". We all had to try the fries, they were very nice thick cut home-style fries. So his meal was a winner.

Also wanted to mention the restaurant was cute, they had a coloring table for DD6 while we waited to be seated. Service was good, thus far in the trip we had yet to have really great or really terrible service (both to come)...

And now for the bottom line:

Would we recommend to a friend? I am iffy here, it was cute, food was decent, service was good. Honestly I have yet to have anything really good at MK, still wanna try a couple other places, but this may be about as good as it gets at MK.

Would we eat here again? As I mentioned, of the MK places I have tried this may so far be best but only because MK has nothing great that I have discovered yet. So maybe we would do this again but not before trying a few others at MK.

Cost: $43.68 (before discount), TIW savings $7.09, total paid $36.59.

TIW savings tally (running total): $65.20

count me in. Thanks for sharing, we never did the show but your daughter was so cute and I'm glad she enjoyed.

wow, the jerk sandwich looks really good. cant wait to try one for myself.

I am loving reading your reviews and especially with the pictures to show what you are describing. Thank you so much for all the effort!

After lunch we all decided we needed a rest before MVMCP, so we headed to our room for a nap. We knew we would just grab food when we were hungry so no ressie's this night!

We arrived back at MK just in time for the castle lighting and the mass exit of people without MVMCP tickets. The park majorly cleared out, I was happy with the level of crowds for the party.

First thing I did was hit the Launching Pad for a Sweet Cream Cheese pretzel, I had been reading about it and wanted to try it. It was a little too sweet for our taste, DD6 made me find another stand to buy a regular pretzel (which counted as her dinner, I believe the pretzel's were 4.99/ea).

Now as the night went on DH got hungry. I mentioned a slice of pizza would be great, but turns out no pizza at MK, at least not during MVMCP, though I am pretty sure they don't have a QS pizza place at all. What a shame! We decided to do Comic Rays. We both decided on nuggets and fries, but since I wasn't too hungry and DD6 wasn't eating I decided I would do the kids meal, DH did the adult meal. Here were the plates:

DH's plate:

They were good breaded white meat strips, all was tasty and what you would expect from a QS place.

And my plate:

You will notice the nuggets are the processed yuck kind of nuggets. Hello, adults get the good chicken when they order nuggets and kids get this? I only ordered the kids meal because I wanted the smaller portion, I had no idea the actually cooked a cheaper *yuck* chicken for the kids and a good one for the adults. No wonder DD6 won't eat the kids food. You can guess I didn't care for the chicken. They did serve the same fries which were fine, and DD6 and I shared the grapes.

And now for the bottom line:

Would we recommend to a friend? I think Cosmic Rays had tons of selection for a CS place, I clearly picked the wrong choice, but it's a good option for a quick meal at MK. I wouldn't steer anyone away from here, just would say get the adult meal and skip the kids meal!

Would we eat here again? In fact we do again this same trip, and my guess is we will on a future trip too! Good selection and seating for QS.

Cost: $16.05 (FYI adult meal was 7.89, kids was 4.99, given the choice again I would have paid the extra to get a decent meal), no discount.

TIW savings tally (running total): $65.20

Note: I stopped at Main Street Bakery on our way out of MK to grab a couple treats for breakfast the next few days, will have short reviews on each coming soon!

everything looks so yummy!

oh and MK does have pizza- at least they did last year, i didn't stop this year to check- but Pinnochio's Village Haus had individual pizzas we ate last December. they weren't half bad either.

don't you love the TIW card!!!?:goodvibes

Oh thank you for the info on pizza at MK, this is great news for DH and I next time we go!

The TIW card is great, glad we got it, works well for us! But here is the problem, now that I have APs I am thinking of planning 1 more trip, LOL!

We really like it there too! Even though it is smack in the middle of Fantasyland people tend to forget about it. It was nearly empty both times we ate there!

Looking forward to more reviews! popcorn::

As mentioned I grabbed some treats from Main Street Bakery for breakfast, the first if which I enjoyed the morning of Dec 20th:

It was Crumb cake, I cut it in half and I ate half and DH had the other half (it was huge, half was plenty for breakfast). I thought it was so wonderful. I admit I love crumb cake and this one was great, cinnamon crumb topping and nice light fluffy cake to match it! Was perfect with my cup of coffee (Starbuck we brewed in room thanks to garden grocer).

Now I gave the other half to DH as mentioned. Somehow he has never had crumb cake and he decided to scrape the topping off before eating (:eek:Shocking). He has no idea what he missed...

I cannot find receipt, but whatever I paid it was worth it, and next time I won't share with DH!!!
