watch out for snakes!

We saw one of those black snakes at TL last year. I had heard that there are plenty of them around the waterparks. Fortunately, the CM walking in front of me saw it first and screamed. How kind of her to not allow me to embarass myself. :rotfl2:

You have to remember that WDW is built on a swamp.

We encountered a snake at CS this past March. He was slithering along the parking lot/walkway on our way back from the bus stop. My husband almost stepped on it. It looked like foliage debris, the girls screamed, my 7 yr old starting crying (from us screaming I'm sure). The poor snake make a quick dash for the bushes. Makes you wonder how many things are there that you don't see.......

OMG I WOULD FREAK OUT!

Living creatures I hate:
Snakes are in the top 3. I'd tell you the other 2 but one of them, I might get super flamed.

Lacrosse Lady--I wish you would tell me. I bet the one that would get you flamed is one of mine. I just dont like creatures that cause hives. :confused3(Snakes definately are one of mine.)

I'm with you lacrosse_lady72, snakes are for sure in my top 3. I would be interested to hear your other two. I'll give you one of mine. Shamu (or killer whales actually). I think it's the combination of the whale itself and the depth of water they live in. I am terrified of really deep water as well. On our honeymoon my DH and I went to San Antonio, TX and went to Sea World. My DH wanted to take a picture of me next to the tank. I went over and stood next to it and looked down toward the bottom. Well one of the killer whales was swimming near the bottom and I almost passed out. I got tunnel vision, my hearing went all funny, and my knees turned to jello. I saw the movie Orca as a child and have been terrified of killer whales and deep water since then.

eeewww!!! that makes me super nervous cause we are staying at the Poly next week and DH wants a ground floor! I had read somewhere here on the disboards that someone had a ground room and a NASTY CRAWLY SNAKE slithered thru the sliding glass door and curled up right behind the curtain INSIDE THE DERN ROOM!!! :scared1:

I would soooooooooooo freak the *&^% OUT!!! Man, the management would have to put me on the TOP floor, with animal control right outside 24/7 and all doors and windows/sliding glass doors, would have to have some kinda snake detterent on it or SOMETHING! LMAO!

makes my skin crawl! (oh, and Im in Alabama, live on the lake and STILL GET FREAKED OUT!)

You would think that all the people around the resorts would keep snakes away. Aren't they supposed to be as afraid of us as we are of them?

Our most interesting animal sighting was an armadillo in the parking lot at All-Star Music one year.

Was it eating a snake and carrying bed bugs:laughing::sad2:?

We live in South Carolina and snakes are a common sight here. Just be careful and watch where you step after dark. Although they are not my favorites animals, I am not nearly as scared of them as I was about ten years ago. I am living proof that snakes bites, even from venomous snakes, are not necessarily fatal.

We saw a snack at the wilderness lodge on the path to the boat doc. Not sure what kind it was, moseyed along and we watched it. It kind of added to the atmosphere.

Mmmmm snacks on the path to the boat dock. I will have to stop for a bite to eat! :rotfl2:

Years ago we were coming home from the MK at night when a rat ran across the path. DH told the kids that it must have been Mickey Mouse!! LOL:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My DH thinks he is the Crocodile Hunter and has to catch every snake he sees, so I hope we don't come across any...I would be embarrassed! I'm not afraid of snakes, I just get startled by them. We are in Savannah and live in marshes so we have lots of snakes, a couple in our backyard are residents.

King snakes and black snakes are good, they eat rats and mice! I also love the little lizards that run around our house and down in WDW.

Be nice to those black snakes. We live in north
Georgia (moccasins, and copperheads!) We have
quite a few of those black snakes - some really big!
I have heard that they keep the bad snakes away, and
I believe it, as they are the only ones I ever see.
We have a pond and lots of woods - perfect for bad
snakes!

I have heard this more than once and I really hope its true and I hope all I see is black snakes.... my parents had one in there attic once.

4 MONTHS!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!:woohoo::wizard:

Why, why do I do this to myself???? I had just gotten over the other thread "Snake in resort room" and now this? On top of that I have to read about the recent snake sighting @ Boardwalk coming thru the planks, and @ Epcot on the way home from the fireworks....and we're staying @ BC :scared1: My DH is the Croc Hunter too! He found a 12" milk snake in our flower bed last fall when he was trimming some bushes in there. Brought the dang thing to the van window and held it up to show me (I was getting ready to run errands). Luckily I saw him come walking around the back of the van with it so I could get the window up quickly and lock it and the door :scared: He was saying how he hit it with the trimmer line and was scared he hurt it. I told him to get rid of it, not in our yard, but anyone else's, and I watched to see what he did with it (put it on the concrete by the storm drain and it slithered down there).

I HATE them, loathe them, to the point I have a request on our ressie for an upper level room (even though that didn't help the poor family @ CR last fall)!

Last year at Typhoon Lagoon, I was in the lazy river and a snake found it's way up my shorts. It was a Marble Headed Diamond Flat Tail Spiral Winder which are very posionous. It bit me in the right buttocks and I had to be rushed to the hospital and they removed half my buttocks.

Now my freinds call me Half ***.

Just joking no snakes so far.

Of all the things I worry about on vacation, snakes aren't on my list.
