watch out for snakes!

As long as the snake is NOT in my hotel room and I don't touch it, I'm fine. You know it's funny, we saw one by the pool at AKL and some kid picked it up. A CM opened a gate and the kid threw it back there. As much as I wanted the snake to go away, I kind of got sad when he threw it hoping it didn't get hurt.

OT: When I lived in Texas I came home to find two geckos in my room! I'm from the Midwest and that does NOT happen here! I was crying and screaming - they had black spots! I didn't know if they were poisonous, etc. I had a friend come over to "get" them and when he was about to step on them I started crying even more because I felt bad hurting them LOL.

Last year at Typhoon Lagoon, I was in the lazy river and a snake found it's way up my shorts. It was a Marble Headed Diamond Flat Tail Spiral Winder which are very posionous. It bit me in the right buttocks and I had to be rushed to the hospital and they removed half my buttocks.

Now my freinds call me Half ***.

Just joking no snakes so far.

Of all the things I worry about on vacation, snakes aren't on my list.
:rotfl2:
It's sad that you had to write "just joking..."

I wonder, do you think WDW will eventually make this a separate room booking category - "Snake View":lmao:

I would book this view in a heartbeat. I love snakes. Around here I often here "Hey, snake lady" as I walk down the street running my errands because people don't know my name but they know what I do for a hobby. I collect snakes of all kinds. While they are more scared of you than you are of them they still need to go about their daily lives just like we do and sometimes that takes them into the vicinity of people. They too are going :scared1: when they come across people and are probably telling all of their snake friends of this horrible encounter they had with these big, scary things that were trying to chop their heads off or stomp on them :lmao:.

Saw a snake 2 years ago in Epcot waiting for the fireworks to start. :scared1:My dd (3 at the time)princess: was watching it as it slithered to inside one of those grassy parts that is fenced off - she stuck her head right through the fence and got it stuck!!! :sad2:Well she started freaking out and luckily one of the CM's (must have been someone important he was in a business suit on a friday night and on a segway) was nearby. We got her head out once she calmed down and he gave her almost 3/4's of his pins he had on his lanyard to get her to settle down! What a nice guy!:)

We were at CSR last March and we saw a black snake on the way back to the room one evening. I screamed but only b/c I had to get my DH's attention so he wouldn't put his foot down on top of it. We let it pass on by and went on our way. No harm, no foul. :)

Snakes do give me the heebs, but honestly I'll take them over spiders any-stinkin-day!!! And one time I saw a cockroach on the monorail, I yelped, everyone was looking at me, I was soooo emabarrassed:blush:

I'm actually bothered by snakes less than lizards. I feel like I can outrun the snakes, lizards on the other hand are crazy and will run at you!

Anyway, didn't see any snakes last week when we were there. Saw one dead lizard belly up on the ramp going up to the monorail (poor guy got trampled in a herd I guess :lmao:), a bunny in Epcot, and ducks in our pool at the Contemporary. Oh lotsa birds in the hotel cafe as well. Good thing Bird Flu isn't the current scare! :)

I would have also yelled when seeing a cockroach!! :scared1: I am now so worried about rats (have never seen any in 15+ trips) and my husband will freak if we come upon any snakes!! :scared: Bring on the exterminators!!!!

OMG I WOULD FREAK OUT!

Living creatures I hate:
Snakes are in the top 3. I'd tell you the other 2 but one of them, I might get super flamed.

Lacrosse Lady--I wish you would tell me. I bet the one that would get you flamed is one of mine. I just dont like creatures that cause hives. :confused3(Snakes definately are one of mine.)

I'm with you lacrosse_lady72, snakes are for sure in my top 3 I would be interested to hear your other two.

Whispering: I don't like cockroaches and I don't like dogs.

Saw about a 3 ft racer on the putting course at Vero last weekend.

Good thing it was a King Snake and not a Coral Snake that you saw. Coral snakes are very poisonous and King Snakes are not and they both look almost alike.

Wouldn't be surprised if Disney encouraged the King snake's residency. Where the King snake is, there are fewer poisonous snakes! We love King snakes here in West Texas - they control the rattlesnake population.

I seriously thought you were going to say kids :lmao:

In 9 trips I have yet to see a snake. Last June, someone at Pop said they saw one slither into the bushes, but I never saw it.

We saw some rats at the Hess near YC/BC in Dec 06, near the dumpster. I have seen many bunnies (which is my favorite animal), racoons, very few lizards, but they don't bother me, and a tree frog, which jumped out at me at 4:30 in the morning on arrival at CBR last September. I was trying to find our room and looking around to make sure I didn't see any snakes, when I hear a rustling and looked up to look right in the eyes of this frog, thank goodness it was only a frog, had it been a snake, I would have peed myself and screamed really loud :scared1:. We won't be staying at CBR ever again. We saw less creatures at FW than we did at CBR.

We saw a snack at the wilderness lodge on the path to the boat doc. Not sure what kind it was, moseyed along and we watched it. It kind of added to the atmosphere.

That's the kind of "snake" (snack) that I like to see!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:That's just plain hilarious!

We just got back yesterday from 12 glorious days at Disney. We stayed 4 days at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and 7 at the Wilderness Lodge. I worried about a lot of things before I went but I am happy to report that:

- I did not see any snakes
- I did not see or get bitten by any bed bugs
- The only "loose" animals I saw were ducks, rabbits, squirrels and a couple cute lizards
- I did not see any spiders or enormous bugs
- I did not find any nasty hairs in the room

I thought you were going to say cats--there seem to be alot of people around here that like them. I am so allergic that once I broke out all over my arm from the cat hair on a friends couch. When I first met DW, I definitively said I would not live in the same house with one. She was OK with that because she doenst like them either.

I can totally understand the dog thing. When my nephew was about a year old (maybe a little younger) his mom had someone in their apartment complex watch him instead of him going to day care. The person had a chihuahua. Well one day (and I don't know the circumstances around it) the dog bit my nephew on his face and almost got his eye. Since then, he has been scared of dog, and he is about to turn 8.

Poisonous or not..I wouldn't know the difference! I would scream!:scared1:
My skin would be crawling and I am glad I didn't read any snake posts before I went last week!:scared:

I'm sorry you had such a disappointing trip:lmao:. You might want to send a letter to WDW about that:laughing:...
