Hi I am going to WDW in early Dec. with my DGF. :lovestruc She has never been and has always wanted to go. It's been 20 yrs since I have been.
I am planning on proposing while we are there, we are staying at POR. I have looked at some of the suggestions at mousewed.com and was wondering what sounds more romantic, The private dinner at Grand Floridian in the alcove over looking the laggon, Cinderella's Table Engagement Dinner, or a spot at Magic Kingdom say at wishing well or Cinderella's Castle when fire works are going off. :confused3

Plan 1. Private Dinner at Grand Floridian. Instead of dessert have Butler bring out the Tiara and Glass slipper package from Disneyflorists declaring her a princess. If timed right put her tiara on as fireworks from MK across the lagoon start. Then get down on knee and ask her to make my happily ever after come true.

Plan 2. Cinderella Engagement Dinner. This plan is pretty complete already has glass slipper. And a photo. But not quiet as private. Thought maybe have Disney "Bride and Groom to be" ears delivered to room from Disneyflorists.

Plan 3. First night at MK try to get help from CM at Cinderella's Castle for good spot and possibly Photo taken as fireworks going off. Or at Wishing well. Then have Disneyflorists deliver Tiara, glass slipper and "Bride and Groom" to be ears to room for later when we get back.
Each are nice, but I was wondering what others think maybe helping feel out what she would like most.
SORRY for the long post.

First: WELCOME! :yay:

Second: Awww you sound like such a sweetheart!! :goodvibes

And now to your answer:

All options sound super romantic, but if it were ME, I'd want Option 1. Option 2 is a close second. My only concern for Option 3 would be that it may be harder to plan and time just right. Plus, it could be kinda loud...so you risk the love of your life not hearing your proposal and responding with a "HUH?! What'd you say?" Ok, that probably wouldn't happen...but I just imagine there being more distractions. I know there are several ladies here that have actually been proposed to at WDW--so they will probably have more helpful info to share. :thumbsup2

Whatever you decide--GOOD LUCK! You have a lucky girl!

First, you are SO amazing adorable!!! Any decision you make, she is just going to LOVE it!!! I love all three, and personally, I would love any of those scenarios just the same... I dont think one is better than the others!!

That being said, If I had to choose, I'd go for #3, but ONLY because wishes is my absolute most favoritest thing about Disney World EVER!!! I just love those fireworks, and I get this warm happy feeling every time I see them... so I'm bias towards the fireworks. I think its simply magical. Also, the CM's are very eager to help you in any way they can, so you should be able to coordinate something very magical with them!

BUT, with the dinning, you get the nice slipper presentation for the ring, and that can be magical in itself! OH, its just so exciting! Well, that's my vote. GOOD LUCk in what ever you decide!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Ok, I'm totally agreeing. ::yes:: I change my answer! I didn't really figure into the equation that it will be her FIRST trip to Disney. I can't quite think of a more magical and romantic way to spend her very first night in Disney World!

My husband and I had a private dinner at the Grand Floridian in the 3rd floor overlook - is this where option number one would be? Just so you know - it is not an "overlook" - it is a hallway. Our dinner was very nice and our private butler was great - but this area is NOT very private.

If I had to pick, I'd go for Option 1. The other options sound good, but if you do this in a public area, you will be sharing this very special moment with a ton of random strangers. Most likely they would want to come and congratulate you as well, which could turn into a total circus. Of course, I'm biased because I don't like to be the center of attention like that. If she doesn't mind being the center of attention, then the other options would be great as well.

On the other hand, I got engaged in a park where no other people were around. it was a great moment to be able to sit there for a few minutes afterwards with him let it sink in that, "I've just committed myself to this person for the rest of my life, and this is the greatest feeling ever!" At that moment, it was the start of our life together. At that moment, it was just about us. We were able to sit there and share that moment together without any interruptions from other people. I would not have traded it for anything else.

That's just my two cents worth. Good luck on whatever you decide.

All of them are great!!!!! I would be happy with any:lovestruc

If she doesn't mind being center of attention then do it when the fireworks are going off...it would be easier for a CM to take your picture if you do it in front of the partners statue which is right in front of the castle, they have a photopass photgrapher there and also near the rose garden. I do love the wishing well though.

You could go to California grill and have dinner there...you can go utside out onto the balcony to watch wishes and propose to ther then too.You can ask your waiter to take a picture for you or one of the CMS there...call and see if they can do anything. Just a thought.

When are you going?

Oh I am all about #1. What girl wouldn't love to be crowned a princess and then proposed to!!!

Getting engaged at WDW is going to be romantic no matter what option you choose! If it were for me I would like number 1. I like private moments though. If your DGF likes to be center of attention go with number three. I know a lot of Brides have enjoyed option two as well though. Tough decisions. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

All are very romantic, but I would choose # 3. # 2 is a close second. People will ask her about her engagement sooooooooooooo many times until she marries you and I think she will feel like a princess every time she describes your proposal by the castle RIGHT UNDER the fireworks.
With the Grand FLoridian, she may have to go through an explanation as to what it is. I was surprised at how many people don't know much about Disney. But everyone knows the castle.

You can always do the Grand Floridian dinner the last night you are there and thank her for saying yes!

I like Option 3, but I think it'd be easier to hear before the fireworks....those fireworks are LOUD. Maybe ask the photopass person to not take the photo until the fireworks are going off, but propose right before?

I think it's so sweet that you are making her first trip to Disney so special, heres to hoping that the two of you have many more magical trips together :) :goodvibes:

Thank you all for your responses. :goodvibes It's great to have so many kind hearted romantics to get ideas from.
Which ever option I go with I do plan on doing it the first night we are there. I want to enjoy our trip as an engaged couple. Lisacope it sounds like that is were the dinner would be, thank you for your info I may take Lynn5700's idea and move it to the balcony at California Grill. That sounds really nice. I just hope it doesn't get too cool at night since we are going on Dec 2.
I have been trying to read alot of your wedding journals :lovestruc getting ideas and learning a little about you all. There are so many beautiful love stories, I've laughed and even had a cried a little.
Thank you all so much for your help.
Looks like we have a tie
4 for #3 and 4 for #1
1. bestla 1. allisa2008
2. CosiBella 2. figmentcookie
3. hope1826 3. DisneyBrideToni
4. disneychickforever 4. IndyBride

I will have to look into the balcony scene at California Grill that might be better than the Grand Floridian. :thumbsup2 And I also love the idea about proposing at Magic Kingdom. I guess I will have to try to see if she would prefer something private or if she might like sharing our moment with others, while enjoying the magic of Disney World.:wizard:
Please feel free to make suggestions, I am always open to new ideas.
Thank you all again, I'm at work right now and have to go but I will check back as often as I can.

I think the California grill sounds wonderful. Then, you can watch the fireworks like you want but it can still be a private event. That's definalty a beautiful engagement story.

::yes::

Dig the idea by the fountain as well, thats always a little bit more secluded then the partner statue. :) We wish you all the best!! And you must come back and tell us all about your plans and your trip --- think you might try for a Disney wedding??? :hyper: :hyper:

oh I just wanted to tell you that at POR they have horse and carriage rides.Just wanted to say that is something romantic you can do after the engagement while you are staying there :)
