I couldn't believe the number of stores that popped within 10 miles of my house--I've never seen (in my entire one month career---LOL) that many and at locations I have never seen before!!! I'm waiting to see how fast they go.

I think this truely was being at the right place at the right time--I had just finished pricing out our Dec/Jan trip to Disney and was falling over from sticker shock :scared1: when I checked ebooking for one last time for the night!!!

I grabbed 9/22 and 9/23 one about 3 miles away, the other about 5.

I pm'd a few of you I could see on board. I hope you don't mind (in case you weren't sitting on this thread)

Here’s my setup just like cynjam described. I put my MC signage on top of the PTS box. Next week I’ll do like you Splash and tape it to the front of the table where I’m putting the samples.

LanaJae - Before the event I was going to mark out coupons and write brochure, but nobody wanted the paper and I didn’t want to put 0 in the blank so I left it at coupons and wrote a note I didn’t have coupons.

Great, Salute to Savings Wave is now at WM & Meijer on the same day. Why couldn’t they have been on different days. I already booked Meijer for this event a couple of weeks ago and I’ll stay there. Since Meijer can't be done on an off-date, maybe there will be some left to do at WM on an off-date.

Doing my 500th (seems that way!) CQ Cosmetics again tomorrow! I don't mind really because the ladies LOVE a free eye liner and plus it's an $85.00 event as opposed to just $70.00!:thumbsup2

Please forgive my ignorance here, but I'm just getting started. I have 2 events booked so far, Glade Wisp and Nice & Fluffy. No signs printed w/ my directions for Glade, but a sign w/ a message about hot appliances on one half and samples given w/ guardian consent on the other half, and a sign about products may contain pharmaceutical ingredients on one half and a break sign on the other half printed for Nice & Fluffy. Neither sign looks like the signs I see in the photos some of you have posted. Are there standard signs for all events or do I just use whatever prints up w/ the directions? I know these are dorky questions, but I don't want to mess up on my first events!!

Kathy - looks great! (and you do too!) That's how I was set up at ST and I liked it. I'm going to tape the signs too, it's a great idea.

I just wish they really would send coupons, I've never received any and it's been written on my report form several times.

I'll probably get this wrong, but I think whatever signs you need will be in the kit - this is at K-Mart?

There are signs in most of my instructions, but I also get them in the kits (much nicer) and they change often - now there's a sign that can be switched all different directions for 1. no samples under age 14 unless a parent approves; 2. Caution Hot, 3. on break, and I can't remember 4 (or if there is a 4).

The allergy sign was separate this time.

I've got a question about Nice 'n Fluffy Escape and Xtra..

This is the first K-Mart for me. I know I get the kit at the store, but do I bring the table cloth and runner back home with me? (and can I use it for other non-food demos if I am supposed to bring it home? - those that don't have signage). It looks nice in the picture - maybe it's just a piece of plastic.

Right now I'm using brightly colored placemats from Ikea to protect the top of my table. I got a new table for the toaster strudel, but it was all smashed up in the centers of it and isn't usable.

Anyone who has this question (I did), the apron can be washed. Mine got sticky today and I washed it and hung it up to dry. I want to buy a "real" one though, this thing is so tacky lol

and I have another Q..

At Super Target, do you wear your own black hat? Last time they wanted me to wear one of theirs (gray baseball-style with Target logo), but they've been worn by other people and are in a pile. I swear I'm not a germaphobe, but I am on corticosteroids and I have to be careful, and even if I wasn't, I don't really like wearing a hat that a stranger has worn.

Saturday I am going to hope no one says anything and just wear mine.

Thanks LanaJae. My printer is low on ink and the signs look pretty cruddy! Hopefully there will be nicer ones in the kit at Target.

Hi, I did my first event July 18 and as of August 9, I still have not gotten paid. Does it take this long?:confused3

DON'T IRON YOUR APRON! They melt! :rotfl2: Ask me how I know that. ;)

Go buy yourself a $5 black clothe apron with pockets from ACMoore, Michaels craft store, or Walmart in the placemat aisle.

It should take 2 weeks. Did you mail in your COMPLETED store report form (signed by you & manager) and your 2 receipts the next day? If so, contact your coordinator by email & find out what the problem is. Hopefully you read this thread & knew to keep copies of what you mail in. Good luck.

Again, I'm probably wrong, but I can't see a need for any sign for this event. Kids probably won't ask for cards and you have total control of everything. The perfume ladies at Macy's don't have a sign when they come at people.

With so many people who get migranes from scents, I'm sort of surprised they are doing this. I can't count the number of people who wanted unscented sunscreen when I did Coppertone.

You'll spray the scent on a card and give it to a customer along with a coupon. What I will do is hide the spray inside my table when I go on break, just so that kids don't get ahold of it. I'll keep the coupons in my apron and pull them out as needed.

This is a good event to start with IMO - you'll have something to do and people will appreciate coupons. Hopefully K-Mart runs sales in conjunction with promos like this too. If you get bored, just know that food makes time go faster, especially if people like it :)

I have a question since I've just recently remembered this thread existed - I'm seeing photos of some of you in short sleeved polos. Now, the last time I remember reading anything about attire was a year ago, so maybe I just didn't see any updates or anything, but I thought that the shirt had to be white or black, with a collar, and LONG sleeved. Has this changed now? Can we wear short sleeves?? I'm in CA with SPI if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

When its 85 degrees out & humid, I'm not wearing a long sleeve shirt. Its bad enough I'm already dripping with sweat off my head by the time I'm done setting up, I don't need to be dripping thru the entire event. Stores are not air conditioned well here. Kmart has turned 1/2 their lights off in an attempt to TRY to get the A/C to cool the store.

OFFICIAL ANSWER FROM STAYING-CONNECTED.COM website:
What am I required to wear at my event?
A white or black collared shirt or blouse, black skirt or slacks, black closed-toe shoes, a black cap and black apron are required. Some clients provide special apparel, which will be included in your event kit. Jewelry should always be conservative. No tattoos or piercings (only modest ear piercings) should be visible. When sampling and serving food, gloves must always be worn and changed when they become soiled.

Warm Delights AND Curves cereal & bars? Together? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Well, at least we can get everyone to our table this time. Dieters & non-dieters. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Thanks SO much for your reply!

Now, more questions. lol I'm doing the Cogate Healthy Habits event tomorrow at KMart...

I'm handing out coupons, no samples. It says there (should be) 300 coupon booklets in the kit. Now, the store report form questions... product beginning/ending inventory etc. Those refer to the actual store product right? So, I need to count up all the toothpaste, toothbrushes, dish soap and lady speed stick that match my upcs in the store?? I have a headache already. lol Also, when it asks if I sold out of product, is it asking if I sold out of say the colgate, palmolives, etc, or is this referring to if I handed out all the coupon booklets? I'm guessing product.

A rep/supervisor/Target specialist from MC was at my grand opening at a Super Target (I'm with SPi). She wore a white short-sleeve polo and black capris (about mid-calf).

I wore longer capris (about 3" above the ankle) for the Coppertone, because they looked better with the t-shirt they provided. Lately I've been wearing black jeans (very black). I am also wearing black Mary Jane Croc shoes. I wore black Keds one time and my feet hurt for days afterward - standing in one place is the hardest thing, I could walk for 5 hours, but standing does my feet in.

At Super Target, the shirt sleeve length wouldn't matter because you wear a Chef's coat. I saw other MC people wearing no collar white t-shirts there and the MC rep didn't question it, probably because of the Chef's coat.

Here I go on the Coppertone again (sorry!). I tried to count only what I was demoing, but it was spread all over the store. Just do your best, and do it after you swipe in. If you can count in one area, then it'll be easier to see how many sold (or were moved from one side of the store to the other).

The forms are very generic, I believe it means sold out of the particular type you are demoing (the product).
