Good Afternoon Warriors!!!
Real quick - the bike lives for another day, but more about that later.
Today was a swim/bike/run day for me, & without exaggeration, It was the most scared I have been in quite some time. Ok, lets say not scared, but uhhhhhh, CONCERNED.
Went to the beach & managed to slog my way against a horrible south to north current for about 1/2 mile distance in 33:00. No big deal. I suck at swimming. Hopefully that will change with time.
But the kicker was when I decided to head back in (at the latter part of an outgoing tide, I'll add.....),
I
Could
Not
Get
To
Shore............................
It wasn't there when I went in, but there was a really strong rip current conspiring to keep me in the water. I'm tired. I wanted to get out, but simply couldn't. There were 2 lines of shore breaks between me and the sand, & I knew if I could get to the first one I could get in without problem because my feet would be on the bottom. No panic, but I was Not Happy. After a HARD effort, I finally got my feet on sand, & then the magnitude of the rip was evident, because I could hardly WALK into the shore. But obviously I finally made it and all was well after that.
Note to Jim: Go swimming at the very end of the outgoing tide or the very beginning of the incoming tide. I guess those tide tables are in the paper for a reason.
I then did 25.1 miles on the (FLAT TIRE FREE!!!!!!!!

) bike in 1:27 & then a 5K run chaser in 27:10.
total distance for the day: 28.75 in 2:28:00
BTW, Just a slight hijack - - - --> I got promoted at work & next week will take command of Engine 12/Rescue 12/Rehab & Air Truck 12 (& whatever else they decide to park at my station). I usually do not took my own horn, but Yay For Me.
