Walt's Warriors (Team 7) Miles and Hours

Got in a 1/2 mile swim last night. I took it very slow so it took about 45 minutes, but at least I was able to get there. It was 9:30 pm, but I got there! It was actually very nice...dark, water was warm, very few people...I may have to start going that late all the time! But a brief note to self and warning for others...Taco Bell for dinner does not help your workout! :lmao: Who'd a thought???

I didn't wnat ot run last night, but I did. Started as a stonker and I had to convince myself that nothign hurt so there was no reason to use teh 10 minutes rule (just felt crapy). WIth a miel to go, Scott looks at me and said, "You must be feeling better." I'm all grumpy adn say not really. Then I looked at teh Garmin adn saw we were going uphill and my pace had improved by over a minute. I was in such a foul mood that that made me mad, as it was a timed run adn now we'd have to pass our starting point. lol. Sometimes, you just can't win. :upsideow

I did 3.57 in 40 minutes. Not bad for a really slow start.:confused3

Sorry kids, I forgot to post a 3 mile walk in about 48 minutes on Saturday and the same on Sunday.

I'm in a running funk. I was in my office today typing when I just suddenly felt horrible- I had that seeing stars, shimmery light, clammy hands thing going on. I had to curl up on Harry's mat for a couple of minutes (my theory being if I did pass out, at least I'd be down!) I felt better after some apple juice and salty chips. I have low blood pressure normally (100/60 ish) but the other day I felt bad and it was around 90/50- I think maybe I was feeling the same thing?! I go to the doctor next week so I'll ask him what's up. Anyway, not much moving for me.

I feel pretty happy that I ran up until about a few days ago, so around 24 weeks, but I was hoping I could at least keep up some fitness by walking!

That's enough of my whining!

and look what I did this weekend--

And yes, I'm going to sand down the spackle at some point- plaster walls and I really don't get along...:rolleyes1

Good Afternoon Warriors!!!

Real quick - the bike lives for another day, but more about that later.

Today was a swim/bike/run day for me, & without exaggeration, It was the most scared I have been in quite some time. Ok, lets say not scared, but uhhhhhh, CONCERNED.

Went to the beach & managed to slog my way against a horrible south to north current for about 1/2 mile distance in 33:00. No big deal. I suck at swimming. Hopefully that will change with time.

But the kicker was when I decided to head back in (at the latter part of an outgoing tide, I'll add.....),

I
Could
Not
Get
To
Shore............................

It wasn't there when I went in, but there was a really strong rip current conspiring to keep me in the water. I'm tired. I wanted to get out, but simply couldn't. There were 2 lines of shore breaks between me and the sand, & I knew if I could get to the first one I could get in without problem because my feet would be on the bottom. No panic, but I was Not Happy. After a HARD effort, I finally got my feet on sand, & then the magnitude of the rip was evident, because I could hardly WALK into the shore. But obviously I finally made it and all was well after that.

Note to Jim: Go swimming at the very end of the outgoing tide or the very beginning of the incoming tide. I guess those tide tables are in the paper for a reason.

I then did 25.1 miles on the (FLAT TIRE FREE!!!!!!!!  ) bike in 1:27 & then a 5K run chaser in 27:10.

total distance for the day: 28.75 in 2:28:00

BTW, Just a slight hijack - - - --> I got promoted at work & next week will take command of Engine 12/Rescue 12/Rehab & Air Truck 12 (& whatever else they decide to park at my station). I usually do not took my own horn, but Yay For Me.

Good job Jim you are an inspiration. I wish I had your endurance to swim and bike too. Hope everyone is well. Tomorrow is last day of school for kiddos:) .
Got in a 11 mile run in 1:50. It was hot here. Had to do a run walk combo. Have a great day Warriors:)

JIm - Hooray fro you! That is a huge accomplishement and a great honor and I am glad you shared it with us!!!! OMG, the rip tide sounds scary. I know that you are supposed to swim parallel to it instead of through it, but really don't want to have to sest that. (Yes, we actually do have them in Lake MI) Glad you are ok!

Wow! I'm reading your post Jim. Scary for me. Glad you didn't panic though. I guess you'll learn how to swim with the tides from here out. Being from the North Coast, I don't have to worry about at all. We slide on the ice here mostly.

Congrats on your pormotion!

Hi Warriors! I'm back! Really! No more vacas until October now so no more excuses.

Our last vaca was wonderful. I got to walk/wog the Cancun beach for 7 days. Let me tell you I did not over do it. Last year I was doing 2 miles out then ugh, had to come back. This year I cut that in half and went slower so for me it was still good. Pics later.

Carrie, I'm sorry. I will be causing you more work. I owe several weeks of stats that I've got to pull off my calendar. Not much time/distance but I've got stuff.

Jim: That promotion is awesome!! We have had rip current warnings down here for a few days.

I have 3 miles in 42min38sec to report for this evening.

Have a good one.

Congrats Jim---on the, let's see....promotion! Flat-free ride! and Making it back to shore! Great job all around!

Yesterday...I slogged out 4 miles in 43 minutes. It wasn't pretty, but it is in the books. No other work-out.

Today....bike 17 miles in 55 minutes
............and LOTS of cardio strength training for another 50 minutes

Quick fly by:

:cool1: Congrats on the promotion Jim! Awesome job on the swim/bike/run! Glad everything turned out for the best, both with the current and the bike:thumbsup2

Welcome back Lily, Cancun - sounds dreamy! sittin by the ocean sippin margaritas.... oh sorry, got caught up in the moment :lmao: - congrats on getting your walks in and not overdoing!

Jen, how scary - definitley better to be as close to the ground as possible when feeling that way - I hope you are feeling better, and those spells are over for now! Love the wall!!!!!

Ok, for whatever reason, mind is going blank............. (happens a lot ;) ) so to everyone else, Congrats on doing what you're doing! :thumbsup2

For me: went out this morning - wasn't feeling it - did 20 minutes, 1.25 miles. 5 minutes of stretching.

Tomorrow, if T-storms hold out, Jeff and I are doing a 5k - it's an inagural fundraiser on behalf of one of the Virginia Tech victims - she lived near us, and her parents started a scholarship fund in her name.

Have a great weekend all!!!

Stacey, I hope you get to do your 5K tomorrow!! I love doing those local races for raising money!!! I'll send some PD your way!!!pixiedust:

Hi Everyone!

A quick check in..3 miles last night, 45 minutes! I took DD around in her jogger!

Have a great friday everybody!

I have finally gotten a chance to slow down a little bit and let you all know about a job change for me (the reason I haven't had the opportunity to post as much). About a month ago I interviewed and was offered the job as the Atheltic Manager for the Columbia County Ga Recreation Department. I hated leaving my job at the church but this was an offer I could not turn down. With leaving the church and trying to learn the ropes at the new job I have not had as much time to check in or to chat with you fine folks. I hope to soon get back into the flow of things.

Jim you're going to be one of those people that i worry about aren't you!!! I'm so pleased that you kept a cool in the water- altho as the command of Engine 12/Rescue 12/Rehab & Air Truck 12 (& whatever else they decide to assigne you!) i would expect nothing less. CONGRATULATIONS. This is exactly the place to blow you little horn- i'll do it for you... honk honk :thumbsup2

jen hope you're feeling ok now, i totally agree with getting to the floor- i often sit on the floor and ppl ask why.... clearly so i can't fall very far! You've done brilliantly keeping up so far and hopefully the doc will clear you for some walking when you feel better. I also love your medal display!

Carrie you did great carrying on when you felt rubbish. What's your 10min rule? I tend to give up quite quickly if it doesn't feel right so i'd love your inspiration.

Michelle now i would've thought taco bell would be a perfect balance of carbs and protein :rotfl: good work getting your 1/2mile done.

Tracy great time for your 3miles. We have friends over in orlando right now are they going to come back lobster colour?

Erika they are some fab workout times and miles. yay!!!!

Roxy 11mile run just doesn't need a swim at the end of it :scared1: run walk in that time is just staggering to me still.

Stacey good luck that the thunderstorms don't hit for your 5km.Hope it's great.

Lily! It's great to see you! So happy to hear cancun was great and properly relaxing.

Amy great work getting DD out in her jogger for 3 miles, that's ace.

ken that sounds like an amazing job change, sorry it was hard to leave your old job though.

Ok i haven't done much today- 40mins stretch and Wiifit bouncing! I've been on a mammoth shopping trip with my sister.... we were out for 9 hours and it's like taking a small child. We carry food to keep her happy and have to make sure she buys something regularly or she gets grumpy! She's 2 years older than me!!!! Hard work would be an understatement. I'll head to the gym tomorrow... promise :)

I know that Stacey posted for me earlier this week but I need to add 1 and 1/2 hrs of exercise to it. Have a good weekend everyone.

Good evening everyone! I got in another 2.5 miles today, in about 36 minutes. I was revisiting W3D1 of C25K and tacked on another easy 1/2 mile while I watched golden girls! It was supposed to be an off day for me but work was making me feel like this :furious: :furious: :furious: so I needed an outlet that didn't involve food.:rolleyes1

Have a good weekend!

I owe my fellow Warriors an apology for being MIA and not explaining why. I have had a plantar fasciitis flare up and haven't been able to do any miles. Rather than come here and whine I thought it best not to post. It was the wrong decision for me because I just gave up on any form of exercise. :-(

I did do yard work last weekend so I do have some minutes to report.

Saturday- 6 hours
Sunday- 2 hours
Monday- 4 1/2 hours

Kate: Yes, your friends will probably come back looking like lobsters, but then I don't understand why. Is sunscreen never talking about across the pond. I do tend to see alot of white europeans getting VERY red and pink and looking very uncomfortable. WHY?? I guess they don't understand the damage that the sun does to your body and also who wants to be uncomfortable with a sunburn that is like having 2nd or 3rd degree burns??:confused3

1/2 marathonpixie: I have had PF in both feet at different times. remember to do your stretching before getting out of bed and do it all day. Ice also. It takes awhile to go away, so hang in there.

As for me I did 3.08miles with a time of 45min24sec.

Take care,
Tracy

Actually i hate the fact that you can spot the english ppl by how red they are and often how inappropriately dressed they are. I hasten to add not all. My family didn't burn (or tan!) at all as we use P20 which is sooooo good. i think we're in a tan skin culture, you should here the reports of teenagers who are addicted to sun beds it's shocking. Never ever would you catch me on them, i'm too scared of cancer. Seen it, don't want it!

Anyway as promised i hit the gym post work today. Did 3.4miles (incl .1 warm up) on the treadmill in 30mins and then popped in the pool for cool down of 0.4 miles in 25mins. My leg held out ok and it seems much better on TM, swimming highly upset my arm but we got thru it... together :rotfl2:

Carrie- i forgot to post week total for last week:9.9miles 177 mins (2hr 57)
