Waiting for Rest of Fall 2015 Room Only Discount

OK I am totally confused. I just looked at the Disney site again this AM and it appears (at least for my dates) that they have released a whole bunch more rooms into the RO offer. Now I got a great deal through Orbitz already (still a few hundred better than direct) but I am just wondering why Disney would release so few rooms for the first couple of days of the offer and then add many more 2 days in. Did they want to steer people to places like Orbitz first? Were they hoping to up sell higher priced (club level etc.) first in hopes people wont go back and switch later? Was it a computer glitch? I know there were several times in the last couple of days that I could not access the prices. Just curious of others thoughts on why the discounts appear to be coming out this way.

Also wanted to let others know that there are more rooms out there now it appears.

Hi DJ,

You might be right on that I had not thought of that. Although it does seem like a lot more is available this AM in the less expensive room categories across all resort levels so it would have to be alot of people upgrading to higher level rooms vs to higher resort categories.

True- Its hard to understand Disney. Last years trip, I changed my trip twice due to room categories that weren't available/were available etc., I kept looking and finally got what I really wanted.

Thank you!! I was able to switch from POP to POR this morning. Every room type but standard was available when previously there was nothing for our dates. We are going 12-10 to 12-15

I'm first week of December and have watched a number of resorts come and go. Last evening for example, the only deluxe available was Animal Kingdom. This morning I've watched Boardwalk and Beach Club periodically pop in and out.

There's not really any particular deal. They just tend to discount the rooms when the Disney discounts come out, plus they pretty much always have a 10% or 15% (or rarely a 20%) coupon code floating around.

I already have a room booked at POP for our dates with a discount, but was wondering if it would be better through Orbitz. Can you all please tell me where do you put the code to check the rates? I can't seem to find it! lol

If you are talking about the 48hrsale code there is a box at the bottom of where you fill in your trip info where you put that.

With four adults traveling for first time Food & Wine we were limited we all could go so we made reservations for standard Boardwalk. I was out of town last weekend so I didn't get heads up about discount and didn't find out till Monday night. DH called first thing Tuesday morning. I was thinking no way, they will have to make new reservation and then cancel old ressies, and website is showing NO standard rooms at BW available. But when I got back home he said they just applied discount to our existing reservations! Is this something new they are doing so u keep your old confirmation number or what?!

I can't say when they started doing that, but I know it has been done since 2010. Not everyone can have the discount added to their existing reservation though...it all depends on availability including the room category. And you can't always trust the website for availability. Congratulations on getting the discount applied to your reservation!

There has to be availability with the discount, so no you can't update your current reservation.

I checked POR tonight and nothing . Glad you got one though!

We too had reservations for BW and the website showed no availability but we tried Tuesday morning and they applied the discount to our reservation. I was shocked and elated! So call and try cause you never know!
