Can anyone tell me, besides 4514, are there other non-5th floor rooms that wouldn't have a murphy? I'd just want to know so when I see my room assignment, I'd recognize it and then could stop at the desk before going to the room.

Not sure about the Murphy beds, but 4533 (studio) does not have a balcony. I can't remember why, it's the only room at BRV without one.

No, they have been done with the room refurbishments for over a year.

I was wondering if the outside work is done, too. We check in two weeks from today and am hoping
they are all done.

It's just painting, if anything. Noting inside and only during the day. It probably takes about 30 minutes per room/balcony. Not really loud or disruptive for any length of time. Even if they are painting your balcony while you are there, they will most likely be gone in less than an hour. You may see a scissor lift outside, but nothing major.

Based on the layout for the 4th and 5th floors, I wouldn't be surprised if everything behind the elevators (4514, 4512, 4508, 4502, 4504, 4507, 4511) all might have sofa sleepers instead of the murphy since there is no 5th floor above that area. The layout for each floor for the entire VWL resort are on page one of this thread.

Have you checked out Touring Plans room finder? I’m not sure if you have to have a paid membership to use it, but they have photos for many of the rooms and some of the balconies.
Here’s a few from 5548, but they are from 2014, before the cabins were built.

There are two kinds of balconies on the top floor. Several rooms (we’ve never made a list of the room numbers) have closed walled-off balconies. You have to stand up on the balcony to see the view.

Our open balcony was room 5548

Most of the villas on the top floor have the usual balcony with open rails. Here's a picture of the front and back of VWL and you will see all the traditional balconies.

They were still painting outside as of Friday. We were able to enjoy the pool with them painting maybe 50 feet away and couldn’t hear anything.
