VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

What is the bed size in the deluxe studio? Many sites say it is a king but the Disney booking site says queen. I guess it must be a queen?

Okay Groupies...just saw this today...

New Permit for Wilderness Lodge Construction Project

Lots of speculation on what this permit might mean. But I like this blogger a lot, and he seems pretty plugged-in to Disney.

Besides, here's one of his previous blogs that no one can argue with: #1 Resort Rooms at WDW

What do you all think is going on at our favorite resort?
Maybe it’s for MY private cabin - complete with a freezer full of free Mickey bars with a special zip line straight to the MK Castle? 😂

Okay so I may be being ridiculous but if they are adding to CCR like they did with BPK and VGF then it would need to be added with 40 years left on a contract when they start selling so the timeline is very interesting.

I will also say we added on at CCR last year and wish we added sooner. Also I see a lot of people interested in WL when talking to the DVC people and asking about that even over the current selling DC's being offered. This is one resort with a massive loyal following so I am thinking maybe adding on the CCR. Which also lines up with what they did for VGF and BPK where it happened during their refurb.

The permits list 19 individual addresses. Most likely more cabins :(
That would be interesting because from the aerial photo posted on one of the threads here, it does not look like the land is on the the water. I wonder if they will be fewer points (if that is what is being built) than the current cabins if this is the case? Or if they will use the same "cabins" currently being installed FW (joke - I think).

Finally made it to BRV - an instant favorite. I think they did a fantastic job with the refurb with so much more detail than other recent renovations. My only complaint is the color temperature of the lighting they put in the rooms is way too cool… white/fluorescent doesn’t fit a cozy lodge theme at all. Such an easy thing to fix too. There are warm LED’s out there so can’t blame it on that.

Thanks for the warning! (I am very sensitive to light temperatures; I resisted buying LED bulbs for a very long time!) How is the oourside refurb going? Did it affect your stay?

Couldn't agree more! The lighting in the old days was darker and that was ok with us. The wood tones would absorb light and we could sleep in with the curtains pulled ever so tight. Not so much anymore. Change is inevitable and overall I think they did an ok job with the recent refurb, but could have left a few more Lodgey touches IMO. But they didn't homegenize it as much as many other DVC resorts.
Glad you enjoyed it! Us groupies are sorta partial to it too:goodvibes

Hey Gang
We left after work on Wed to one of our favorite places in all of Gods creation, Beech Mt. NC. It’s the highest township east of the Mississippi at 5506’
We rent a house near the ski resort that has great views. The house has recently been sold and they have added a few nice “homelike” touches that I will share below.
We rode out Debby yesterday, lots of rain and heavy winds but no damage. Going to check with my dad this am to see how our house faired. Hope all who were affected by the storm are doing ok

Happy Friday, Groupies!

School is back in session in my part of the country which, even though they've been doing it this way for many years, is still foreign to me as I recall going back to school either after Labor Day--or we might have a couple of half days on the Thu and Fri before Labor Day just to get back into the swing of things before taking off that holiday. And we still got out by the end of May. Not anymore. Summer break has been shortened to roughly 2+ months.

Lots of Disney news/rumors lately, most of it doesn't apply to me. I figure some day I'll get back to the World's parks, but for now, I'm content to just visit resorts. pirate:
