Yeah - I know, too many threads but each question has to be it's own thread right?

I'm wondering how much larger a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah would be then a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah with an oversized verandah. Not in numbers I can look those up, but they still wont make sense to me. I'm looking more for an idea how that would fee to occupy for two adults. And how much larger is an oversized Verandah then a regular verandah?

We realized that a Western 7 day goes out over my bday and even though we can't get concerige for it - we just might give it a go. I wont do the Eastern again - but I always wanted to do the western. =)

Here's a photo of a Cat 5E verandah on the Dream- Cabin #10164, Deck 10 aft. We were in the same cabin aboard the Fantasy for the Maiden Voyage.

Make sure you book early, since they go quickly.

Thank you so much - any idea what the 4E (I think that's the Family with over sized Veranda) looks like?

This is our verandah on the Fantasy. It was a 5A, Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah. We were on deck 10 so we had the overhang, but it didn't bother me at all. There were 2 chairs and small table.

Thank you! This was right after we got to our room and they were dressed for the Aquaduck, but it was pouring down rain. They were trying to wish it away, I think!

Well that explains what he's pointing at ;)
Bet he's thinking "Look at the Stupid Rain" :rotfl2:

Heh just be glad it wasn't 13 foot waves on the magic with the stabilizers out sitting dead in the water. I'll take rain after that any day. :rotfl:

53 sqft internally. :) 10 - 200 sqft on the veranda.

Discounting values, and not counting # as requested, that volume is .... priceless. Any extra sqft you can gain onboard is always a plus.

This response is assuming Dream Class vessels.

Deluxe Family OV w/veranda is 256 sqft interior. 43 sqft veranda. Cat 4a - d.
Deluxe veranda is 203 sqft int. 43 sqft veranda. Cat 5a - 7a.

Cat 5e's vary in balcony size. They are located on the stern. Yet are the same internal sqft of 203. Balconies range from 60 - 300 sqft.

Cat 4e cabins are on deck 5, and have extended verandas that are mostly exposed to cabins / public above.
These verandas are exposed to weather and cabins above though. They are not private, as those above can look down on you.

Disregarding values I will have to embrace size, which leads to sqft, etc

Questions;

53, larger the better, 10 - 300 sqft, 154 sqft.

It will "feel" more crowded in a smaller cabin than in a larger one. :)

Ok all the numbers made my eyes bleed...
I'm not stupid by any measure - but I have a learning disability in relation to numbers - probably related to mathematical dyslexia, which believe it or not is a real thing. :)

Here's what I'm looking for since you seem to be the resident expert. :flower3:

I want a nice large room, and a nice largish but private (I thought all Verandas were private) - protected somewhat from the weather veranda. But I also want to go as cheap as possible. What would you recommend for that? As in which you would recommend as the cheapest that fill the other two criteria?

I decided to give up Concierge to do the 7 day western (they're out) but I'd still like a nice room and Veranda set up for my bday.

Well the larger interior sqft rooms are on the sides of the ship. The coveted aft rooms with larger to huge verandas are on the stern. On the stern some do feel the vibrations of the motors / wake occasionally. The wake can be loud. I know you saw those aft veranda photos. But those cabins are 203 sqft as opposed to some of the larger ones available, but those are on the sides of the ship.

Fwiw some cabins in addition to the queen bed and single sleeper couch have a ceiling pull-down bunk, and the larger ones may have a wall pulldown murphy single bed that blocks balcony access.

How many pax are you booking BTW?

If it's just going to be 2 adults, I wouldn't think you'd need the extra space of a family stateroom (categories 4A-D and cat 8). If you're used to concierge rooms and want that kind of space that's a different story, and only those categories will give you the extra interior space.

We've stayed in one of the 4E rooms on deck 5 and we loved it. It has the same interior space as cat 5/6/7 rooms with an extended verandah. I get a bit frustrated with people saying that these are "not private" and that anyone can look down on you from above. (This isn't directed at anyone in particular, but lots of people have made this comment.) The fact of the matter is that the verandahs for these rooms have the same amount of covered, private space as the standard sized verandahs. It is the extra space that is not covered. If you don't want people to look down on you, don't use the extended space. We put our loungers out in the uncovered area when no one was above us -- which was frequently -- and enjoyed the sunshine and unobstructed breeze. Here's a photo of the verandah:

Pax?
I think I need one of those side ones.
I had a heck of a time with sea sickness on our Eastern and I don't want to repeat that ever again. One of the reasons I wont do an Eastern ever again.

Do you have a suggestion as far as Category just so I know which circle to fill in? ;)

We are on Dream Category 4D on the 6th floor. Is this what our verandah will look like? That would be AWESOME!

4E you say? Because my gosh that looks like paradise.

Hmm I see the 4Es come with 4 chairs - can you request to have the 4 chairs replaced with 2 loungers?

We actually had 2 regular chairs and 2 "loungers," meaning that they recline. My DH is in one of the loungers in the photo I posted. (My apologies if I'm using the wrong term!)

The 4E rooms don't have as much interior space as the other cat 4 rooms (A-D), but for our family of 3 that didn't matter. The feeling of spaciousness on the verandah was really wonderful. We had a 5C on our most recent cruise, and the verandah felt tiny in comparison! One thing that's nice about the extended verandahs is that you can sit under the covered/private portion right outside the room, but extend your legs into the uncovered portion. That way you don't have to worry about people above seeing you... except for your lower legs and feet! On our 5C verandah, we felt like we were sitting right up against the plexiglass.

The 4E rooms are forward and aft on deck 5 on the Dream and Fantasy, as you can see on this deck plan:
