Vacation Tips for Women! :)

I've been following this thread for a few weeks now. I was able to stop by my local Whole Foods grocery today and pick one up. I hate to hear that it took so many cycles to get the hang of this. I have just one more cycle before we pull out of town. I think this is the first time in my life that I can't wait for my period to start :rotfl:. I am a heavy bleeder and really hoping this cup will make my trip so much more enjoyable. Thanks for the tip!!!
Hi WillowBelle!

I think it's different for everyone! It literally only took me a day or so to get the hang of mine, so it might not take you too long. :)

Remember it is safe to wear when you aren't bleeding, so you can always practice when you don't have your period. :)

I have to ask: Does anyone else have a problem with being really weak right before they get their Monthly Visitor? If so, what do you do to help cope? I always feel really weak in addition to being just plain tired. Any ideas on what might help with that?:confused3

If it was after I'd say take iron supplements. You may want to try this anyway, but as it's before your period it's probably just hormones. They are to blame for a lot of fatigue etc. :sad2:

Look what I jsut found online! :)

Blood sugar levels also take a dip just before menstruation, triggering fatigue, dizziness, appetite increase, headaches, fainting, mood swings and sometimes heart palpitations, especially if you are under stress. Both ginseng and Siberian ginseng help to stabilize blood sugar and alleviate depression and fatigue. In several different studies on PMS, evening primrose oil was shown to reduce many of these symptoms.

Sounds a lot more convincing than my previous post! :lmao: guess it's why im not a doctor!!

Thanks for the info! Ginseng, eh? I'll have to ask my Dr if I can take ginseng along with all my other meds. It sounds like it is worth checking into. Thanks again!:)

I just returned from DW and all I can say is I don't understand how women can walk in flip flops. I tried it for 2 days then my feet cried enough!

Me either! I can't wear them for long periods of time either! Welcome back although I know you wish you weren't. Did you do a trip report?

I think that it may depend on the kind of flip-flop worn. I wear Croc flip-flops at WDW and am fine. My Old Navy (house flip-flops) hurt my feet to walk on our gravel driveway.

That said, I am almost ALWAYS in some sort of flip-sandal, even though I live in middle Tennessee. SHOES hurt my feet :rotfl:.

Thank you for the vote of confidence :thumbsup2. Maybe I'll give it a dry-run tomorrow while DH is at work and DDs are at their grandmothers.

According to my Dr., he says to up your protein. Eat more than you usually would. If you look up online how much protein you should be taking and take more than that when you get your monthly visitor. I was suprised to see how much needed to be taken each day.

I have one and LOVE it! I'm a pretty heavy bleeder and have a very tipped uterus, and it took me probably 3 cycles to finally get the hang of getting it in so I have no spotting. I had to wear a pantyliner as backup the first few cycles, but now I don't need to anymore. I figured that was a lot better than those huge pads I was wearing before! I felt really awkward getting it in and out at first, but now, it's so easy. I honestly forget I'm having my cycle at all during the day - it's really that comfortable. So, don't give up if it takes you a bit to get the hang of it. Oh, and I wound up trimming the stem of mine totally off because I could feel it poking otherwise. I can still get it out with no problem. Good luck! You'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

I have cut off the whole stem of my mooncup though as I found it uncomfortable.

I could definitely use it after the first cycle, but it was still tricky and took me a little longer to get it situated. I always used backup just in case. After a few cycles it is really easy and takes no time at all and I very rarely use any type of backup.

I didn't mean to worry you, but I just wanted to let people know that it takes a while to get really used to it, so don't be discouraged if it doesn't work so well the first time. Keep trying it for a few cycles! I know on another message board I read many people give it up after it doesn't work the first time until they are told there's a learning curve. They go back to it and love it.

Thank you for the extra encouragement. I tried it last night. I feel like (sorry for the graphic image) that it is going to go all the way inside of my body. That freaks me out a little bit. Guess it's just something I'm going to have to get used to. I will definately wear a pantyliner as backup. I'm just glad to know that I can wear a thong (with pantyliner) and keep the panty-lines at bay. :thumbsup2

Yeah, it does go up quite far, but there's no where it can go, so don't worry. :)

Well done getting on board with it though! In a couple of months you'll wonder why you spent so long without it!! :)

:lmao: never thought about it like that. My cycle seems to be adjusting itself, I'm about a week late but showing all symptoms so know #3 isn't on the way (WHEW! - I'm too old for another bebe) anyway - that is good news, seems I may dodge the whole need for the cup while I'm out of town. We leave in 21 days it's basically not possible now :yay:.
