Vacation Tips for Women! :)

Here is a question that is definitely ladies only!

I am a larger chested woman and I usually wear bras with molded cups (or a minuscule amount of padding) for more support. But I remember when I was in WDW a few years ago, the thickness of the fabric was KILLING me because of the heat!

What kind of bras do you ladies wear while in Florida?

Maybe this won't be a problem this year since I'm going in Dec, but I still want to know just in case we take a trip again in the summer one year.

I have always wore bras with moulded cups - like so:

BUT I just bought this bra:

I love it SO much that I actually got it in all 3 colours it comes in!!

I have always bought the ones like at the top, but I actually find my new lacy ones to have more support, and they hold your ladies in place, and mean you never get that funny effect where half your ****s poke out the top. They are also a lot cooler!! Definitely my choice for WDW in October!

The lacier ones seem to show through my t-shirts...so I've resorted back to the seamless kind.

I'm curvy too - DD20 finally talked me into trying a sports bra a few months ago & I am in :lovestruc LOVE with how great they feel and even support! Adidas and Lululemon fit & look best on me but next week am going to try the C9 style from Target, they have a couple styles on sale & I want a couple extras for the midday change! Y'know, fresh bra after the cool shower & before the roll on under the girls :rolleyes1

Im not sure if this has been mentioned previousl but tis is for everybody. Thick hair, thin hair, blonde, brown, long, short, anyone and everyone. Before heading to the pool dampen hair and then either slick a small amount of conditioner through your locks or spray on a leave in conditioner. This quick and easy tip does a number of things. The water helps the conditioner to soak in and the conditioner does a few things. Instead of hair absorbing chlorine, it has already absorbed the conditioner, hence keeping blondes blonde (and not looking like a green haired seuss character) and colored hair from fading. If your hair is naturally dry or brittle, this will help your strands from becoming more so from the chlorine and sun combo. If you have fine hair, it may become a little bit limp, yes, but will rinse out during your swim and will be left with hair no more limp than with strictly chlorine and much healthier feeling. MAJOR PLUS... on the walk to the pool the sun should actually warm the conditioner a bit and give you a sightly deep conditioning which all hair can use after a few days in he sun!! :cutie:

Neutrogena has a nice Triple Moisture line, you can apply the conditioner if you're only going swimming or their Triple Moisture silk touch leave-in cream has UV filters for all day use

Just found this thread and love the tips. I now have a list of things to go shopping for. I am really interested in the make up. I have tried so many different foundations-mineral and regular and nothing seems to stay on for me.

I bought some headbands from Target after reading this thread. I'm assuming you meant the wide ones since they covered ears when running? I'm too excited to sleep

makeup / skincare / tanning?:

I am very fair skinned, to be PC (aka, I'm really white) and I don't "tan" easily. I go pretty much from white to red. I buy the spray on Sunscreen..SPF 30 I think it is... (I hate the lotions as they feel way greasy and make me break out). I spray it all over my arms, legs, and the back of my neck, then spray it on my hands and do my face and ears. After it dries (in about 30 seconds) I put my regular makeup on. I use Aquasmooth by Covergirl that has an additional SPF 15. Then usually just eyeliner (not liquid as it will usually sweat off or run if it rains or we go on a water ride). Avon glimmersticks are the way to go for waterproof eyeliner. Then I use waterproof mascara.

How do you choose clothing to wear / shoes?

I used to bring sneakers with me but I really hate wearing them. I have switched over to flip flops only. I have my ADIDAS ones (but with the smooth bottom, not those little spikey things) and also a pair of Crocs Capris and just some regular Old Navy flip flops. I'd start wearing the thong style flops a few months before we go to get my feet used to them...we went last March and I hadn't worn anything like that since the October prior and my toes were torn apart after one day. Also...I make sure to get a pedi before we leave and BRING LOTION!

What are your *essentials* when packing for WDW?
Lotion
Chapstick
Sunglasses
Capri pants or Bermuda shorts. Regular shorts are a no-go with these thighs! :rotfl:
Shirts I have worn before that I know look OK on me. Fitting room mirrors and pictures often tell two different stories. Take pictures in the clothes you plan to bring. If you look good in that picture, you'll good in your vacation pictures.

How do you manage your hair?

Shower in the morning, twist wet hair into a messy bun. Voila. Somehow, wet hair stays put for the entire day. If I'm going to wear a hat, I braid it first then pull the braid through the back.

What are your tips for dealing with the heat?

I avoid Disney like the plague during the summer months. I've been in July and September and they were horrible. I'll stick to late spring or late summer/early fall. Since those months are still pretty warm, drink lots of water and take a break when you need it. Don't force yourself to stay outside just so you can "get to everything." You aren't going to accomplish anything from the hotel room or the ER after you've passed out from heat exhaustion.

How do you deal when "that time of the month" surprises you on your vacation!?
Thankfully, this only happened to me once and I was in Jersey, not Disney! Now I take Seasonale, which only allows you to menstruate for one week every three months. It's the most wonderful pill ever! Oh, and birth control also helps to clear up acne or even just prevent the occasional breakout. Plus there's that whole "not-getting-pregnant" thing! :rotfl2:

How do you deal with the men folk / children / even other women!
My boyfriend is a Disney freak like me so he's pretty easy to deal with.

How do you plan for your trip?
First, I pick the month I want to go. Then I check with my job to see what time off is available. After I verify all of that, I put in for the time off, book the trip, then watch the calendars on disneyworld.com and the disboards like a hawk so I know when the park hours are posted. I make a tentative schedule using the park hours for the months leading up to it, then once my months hours are posted, I verify and plan out my ADRs and any other special events. Once I'm 90 days out (which used to be 180) I call and make my ressies then wait not so patiently for my DME stuff to arrive!

How do you save money on your vacation?
We tried the dining plan once and then on the next trip, we went without it. We found that it didn't really save us all that much money so this time we are going to put about $300 on a Disney Gift Card and use that to pay for meals. That way we still have our food paid for in advance, in a way, plus we are limited on how much we can spend which prevents me from eating every ice cream sandwich I come across. Also, we buy a couple of bottles of water when we get to our first park, then refill them and stick them in the fridge overnight. If we stay at a value, it's more worth it to just rent the fridge for the week than to keep buying water bottles at $2.50 a bottle. It's $10 a day to rent the fridge...I know that between the two of us, we buy more than 5 bottles a water a day.

what are your strategies for the parks / what rides / shows / parades?
We always try to do/see everything at least once. If we have never done something we try to make it a priority for the next trip. If we don't like it, we know we don't have to do it again. For example: Test Track. We've done it, it's fun...but it's to the point where it's a tad boring so we skip it. Soarin', however, gets done at least twice. Same thing with food. We don't listen to reviews because everyone has their own opinions. If we try it and we don't like it, we don't have to go back. But anything is better than eating pizza and chicken fingers every day, which is what we used to do before we became privy to ADRs. As far as parades go...we defintely watch the AK parade once because that's my favorite. For our upcoming trip, we have the Block Party Bash on the list because we've never seen it before. We will probably watch Spectro once but if we don't get to it, we don't get to it. I've found that ride q's and restaurants are less crowded when there's a parade going on.

your strategies for the bus lines and transportation? We always use the Disney buses, so we know that there is a possibility that we will arrive at the bus stop just as our bus is pulling away and it will be another 20 minutes (at least) before another one comes by. Since I'm aware of that fact, it just doesn't bother me. I can't stand it when people complain that they were waiting 10 minutes for a bus. It's posted all over the place, and mentioned on practically every bus ride, that there is a wait time of approximately 20 minutes between buses. I just plan to be at the bus stop for 30 minutes and then plan on a 15 minute ride to my destination. Yeah, it's 45 minutes... but I already know that I'm not going to do everything so I don't sweat it. I'm on vacation afterall...if I HAD to be somewhere at a specific time, then it would be called work!

what resorts do you choose and why?
I really want to stay AKL but we currently don't have that kind of money. We spend all day, every day, in the parks. We don't do a "resort day," we don't take afternoon nap/swim breaks. So we literally use the resort for showering and sleeping. I think of the 7 times I have been to WDW, I have actually used the resort pool twice. So for now, we can't justify spending that much money on a resort that we will spend less than 1/4 of our trip in. We have stayed at POFQ and CSR (which was my favorite so far) but we have also stayed at the Movies and we are staying at POP on our next trip. I chose POP over the All Stars because the All Stars share a bus and are always over crowded. That is also one of the reasons I like CSR more than FQ...FQ shares a bus with Riverside and they were always crowded. CSR has it's own bus, as does POP.

Me too! I'm way too busty to wear lace. Plus, I HATE when I'm wearing a thin bra like that & I get COLD. KWIM?? :rotfl2: Or--think of getting off of Splash Mtn & then catching a breeze.?! I'd rather not have Mickey staring at my ta tas!

What a GREAT idea!!!! I always get depressed when I see myself in pictures. I still think I'm a 115 lbs 20 year old, & pictures remind me that I am SO not 20! (And definitely not 115 lbs!!!!) I always cringe when it's time for pics. I will certainly remember this tip in August & I'll conduct my own little "photo shoot." :thumbsup2

This is so me! I love the take a picture tip also. I am going to use it for sure now. Thanks OP!!

I too, am to busty to wear a demi cup bra. I have to have a full cup or I end up with 4 ta ta's . I can wear certain sports bras as long as they have a cup in them. The ones that are flat across I end up with a uni****. Not a flattering thing!

I'm so glad to find I'm not alone! :lmao:

I bought a "Ped egg" last night to sort out the hard skin on the heels on my feet  before we got to WDW and its amazing!! Ok it is a little gross that it collects your skin - ewwww! But after only one use my feet feel much much smoother! Here are the details if anyone is interested.

I hate that advert with all the skin in the egg.

But I was tempted to get one! I might well do on your recommendation! :)

Glad I could help! I hate getting my pictures back (especially the photo pass pictures) and seeing an extremely bloated version of myself in them! I found a few really good clothing combinations and I take THOSE to Disney with me!

And I also have to wear a full cup bra. The demi cups cause a lot of spillage and popping out. I always take my "old faithfuls" on vacation. They are the bra equivalent of "granny panties" because they are comfortably worn in and not at all attractive... but I'm not bouncing around or popping out in all directions when I'm walking 10 miles a day at the parks so that's all that matters! :thumbsup2

I was questioning whether it worked for real or not before I bought one. It is the greatest!

Definitely get one! You won't regret it!

I agree it is totally amazing!

Sometimes you can find it in your local drug store or walmart.

Hi ladies :wave2:

Are any of you on BC called Cerazette?

I have been for 8 weeks now and only just stopped my period 4 days ago (I thought it was never going to be over!!)

Anyone had a similar experience starting out on it? PLEASE tell me it wont come back again now until I stop taking it in 3 years time!!

Hi...my name is Maria...and I am a Lush loving, Sephora shopping, over the door shoe holder packing, ped egg using dis-board-aholic. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This has been the greatest thread ever! I have learned so many tips that I can't wait to try out on my upcoming trip.

I am confused about the BC to delay period thing. I know this works, but I've never tried it personally. Will I just start taking the regular pills a couple weeks before I am supposed to start, or do I have to start on the first day of the period I have the month before my trip?

Also, my cousin (also a dis-board-aholic) has so many great ideas and tips...I'm going to have to get her over to this thread.

One of her tips that I used on my last trip was to pack Crystal Light On-the-go packets in my park bag. You can put them in bottled water or in the free water that you can get from the counter service restaurants. It makes the water even more refreshing and my dd thought of it as more of a treat and never asked for soda.

Keep the great tips coming!:thumbsup2
