Vacation Tips for Women! :)

I think that it may depend on the kind of flip-flop worn. I wear Croc flip-flops at WDW and am fine. My Old Navy (house flip-flops) hurt my feet to walk on our gravel driveway.

That said, I am almost ALWAYS in some sort of flip-sandal, even though I live in middle Tennessee. SHOES hurt my feet :rotfl:.

:goodvibes ITA, it is a matter of finding what is most comfortable for you....the Flip Flop thread was a big help & I fell in love w/ :cloud9: Reefs on my trip a couple weeks ago, they are SO comfy. Bought my first pair in the very cool store at the MK across from the Jungle Cruise. Now have diff. pairs in diff. styles, love them.

Willow Belle, have FUN on your trip!!! :dance3:

Hi, all! Just back from a sweltering week at Disney World!

Just my little tip o' the day... LOL. I found new Secret Clinical Waterproof just before I left. My first thought was, "Why would I need waterproof deodorant?" Then I realized, "Disney World!" :lmao: And it worked really, really well. I also found that it works extra super well as a Body Glide enhancer/substitute for the dreaded chub rub. Body Glide will eventually rub off - especially after some wet rides. I've had other people recommend regular stick deodorant and that never worked for me either. But, lemme tell ya, a coating of Body Glide with a coat of Secret Clinical Waterproof on top and I happily wore skirts all day long for a week and ran around in my bathing suits at the water parks for 3 days without any irritation on my thighs! YAY! And my pits didn't stink either. ;)

So you put the body glide on and then put the secret waterproof on top or did you just you secret waterproof in place of the bodyglide:confused3

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do for those red bump you get in certain places after shaving? How many bras's do you pack? I'm not used to going to FL. in the summer so I'm thinking I'll need a bra a day, or maybe 2, I'd hate to go back soaking wet get changed for a swim and put that sweaty bra back on for the evening, with clean clothes. I figure I'll be washing them out in the sink every night and giving them overnight to dry. :) Linda

For the red bumps, don't shave. Instead, use Magic Cream. It is hair remover that African American men use on their face to keep from getting those bumps. It works great for that...ahum...area. It is with the shaving creams (they have it at Wal-Mart) and is a little over $2 for a can.

Where is that demon smilie??? Thanks you all, I just placed a  big order with both LUSH and philosophy......... But I am excited:woohoo: I was not real happy with what I was getting from Bare Minerals, and needed some new hair and skin care stuff, pedi help, and makeup. I can't wait until it all gets here. I plan to be beautimos by the end of summer! Now, to just loose 30 pounds......

FlipFlopMom,
:goodvibesHope you like the Lush& would love to hear about Philosophy!
I felt the same way wanting to lose a bit of weight before the last trip..
but honestly the spray tan took off about 10 lbs!!! :cool2: Gotta L-o-v-e :love:the way that works!!! :rotfl2:

a good loofah! I swear it works! Although that hair remover stuff sounds enticing.....I've always been skeptical of those hair removal creams but maybe I'll give that Magic Cream a shot...

And definitely bring as many comfortable bra's as you can! I also thought that I would be washing mine out each night and by the time we got back to the resort I was much too tired. I did it the first night and the darn thing didn't even dry all the way...I hung it over the bar in the closet area of the room overnight and it was still moist around the underwire in the morning :confused3

It does sound convenient, but for the parks I don't know. Do you want to be the person washing your hands next to the girl cleaning out her Diva Cup? Ew...

Diva Cup. I wasn't sure either, but I googled it
www dot divacup dot com

It's an alternative to pads and tampons that is a "cup" you insert that fills during your cycle and you remove 2-4 times a day wash with soap and water and reinsert. The site has a lot more information about the cup obviously.

I think I may have to look into it. Beats having to spend the extra money every month for "supplies"

Most women wouldn't need to empty it while at the parks. A normal flow kinda girl can very easily go all day. That's the best thing about it - you basically totally forget you even have AF. But even if you do need to empty, you don't wash it at the sink in a public bathroom. You just dump it and reinsert.

Gotcha. :thumbsup2

Hahaha, I'd like to be her more than the one cleaning it!

Like others have said you dont have to rinse it every time, and most people wouldn't have to take it out unless you were there over 12 hours. :)

Apparently if you're camping or whaatever you an pee on them to clean them. Luckily I don't camp!

On that note though - ask your doctor about uterine ablation (if you're done having kids). I had it done last summer and it's amazing. I wasn't one of the lucky ones that stops completely, but mine are very, very light now. Barely more than spotting. It was totally worth it.[/QUOTE]

I would love more info on this. Like does insurance cover it? How long are you out of commission?

I have PPO and mine covered it, no problem. It was outpatient at the hospital and I was only there for a few hours. I had mine done on Thursday, so I took Friday off as well and was back at work on Monday. I didn't need the weekend to recover though - I was out and about on Saturday and Sunday. I had some cramping the day of and discharge as my uterus healed. Some people come out of it with no more bleeding at all (my doctor said it's a 60% chance of complete cesssation). I wasn't that lucky, but now I just have two or three days of very, very light flow. And it seems to get lighter each month since the surgery (I had it last July).

Thanks, this could be the answer to my prayers. I would love to have my life back.

I've gotta second that! Best invention ever!

I also want to second the Lush shampoo/conditioner recommendation! I save the last pieces of solid shampoos to take on vacation- that way, there's nothing to bring back home! (Plus, a little chunk of shampoo takes up WAY less space than a bottle!) Lush even has a store at MCO!

I've been thinking of trying that "Model in a bottle" stuff that's supposed to set your makeup so that it stays on all day- has anyone else tried it? A model friend also recommended "Make Up Forever" foundation, saying it stayed on great under hot runway lights- I'm wondering if it would be good for WDW, too? At a place where I'm taking hundreds of photos a day, it would be nice to look good!

yep .... sed for my wedding which was outside and it worked great

I don't know if I mentioned before but I was having a huge skin problem, with my acne and rosacea.

I have finally found a regimen that seems to be working thanks to acne.org. I use cetaphil wash for normal/ oily skin, neutrogena spot treatment which is 2.5% beno peroxide, and oil of olay sensitive skin moisturizer with spf 15.

I am just so happy to have my skin healing I could cry. I never thought I would be battling cystic acne in my 30's.

Tell me about it....But in my case I had to go to a Derm and be put on Retin-A.The first few months were BRUTAL.But it has been a year now and my skin has NEVER looked so good. I don't even need to wear make-up anymore( i do anyway)The plus side of the Retin-A is my wrinkles have gotten 100% better too

Do any of you have tips for dealing with PMS? I should get my visitor on our second driving back day, and after being crabby and ill this week, I don't need that on top of the heat and crowds next month!!!:lmao:

tried a couple of things out based on recommendations here. I got the InStead cup to try before I spent the money on a Diva cup (it was all my pharmacy had). I think I will go ahead and buy a Diva even if just to have on vacations. I have tried it for 3 days, no leaking! trying it overnight tonight. I have to say that the Diva looks lots easier to remove. (the InStead is disposible and has no stem to grip for removal - it is nasty to get out - but otherwise it is awesome!) I expect the Diva to be even better.

Also tried the Magic Cream hair removal for the delicate bikini area. It worked nicely but if you have a c-section scar...it stings like mad!!!! Just be careful there.

Anyway, thanks for all the great recommendations!

PS i also use cetaphil to wash my face. It was recommended by a doctor ages ago. I also use only powder foundations on my face and also powder sunscreens (SPF 30). I have a new scar from thyroid removal and the Dr recommended Zinc Oxide cream to prevent scar burns (which could be permanent apparently)
