UPDATE! I DID IT! Questions about Morning workouts!!! ugh!

Okay, I have been working out after work and now I am having a hard time finding time to fit it in! So, all of you who workout in the morning, can you give me some motivation, ideas, etc on how to make this work! I am NOT a morning person....it is hard enough getting up for work! LOL!! BUT I am determined to work out more and reach my goal!

So, what time do you all get up, how do you do it, etc???? HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)


Only 6weeks from Friday to my Florida trip.....time to kick it into high gear! :)

Starting tomorrow I'm going to get up at 5, feed my animals, grab something to drink so I'm awake enough to start my workout at 5:30. Since it's starting to get light out early again it's nice to get the workout in and cool down while watching the sun come up. It's really relaxing when you're doing something like Pilates or Yoga. I'm not saying it's going to be easy the first several days but I'm determined and I know you can do it too! I just want to work out before my little ones get up and things get too crazy. Besides it really brightens you mood and carries you through the day! Good luck Kamy~~I'm right with ya'!!
 
You will hate me, but I get up at 4:30 am to exercise. I do not even set the alram anymore. If I don't do it then, it will never ever get done. It is getting easier to do eachday, but I have days, usually once a week, where I say screw it and sleep in :)


You can do it...If I can, believe me anyone can. I have Florida as my motivation. I want to wear a bathing suit for the first time and not be totally emabarrassed. I think I can come close if not get to my goal for then.

WOW Glo~ 4:30am!!!! :eek: Well, I would need to get up at 5:30am to get it in before I need to get ready to go to work.
So, when are you heading to Florida if you don't mind me asking??? :)

Well luckymommy, I am planning to start on Monday.....so good luck to you!!!!!! :) We will have to chat about it! :)

Kamy, since I am a temporary SAHM I am no help to you. On a typical day I am up at 7:00 (weekdays) and 7:30 or 8:00 on the weekends. I usually go to the gym at 10, but ocassionally I hit the gym around 2.

Glo, 4:30 a.m. is really early! I don't think I can get motivated that early in the morning.
 
I just started back to my am walks. I usually head out at 6am- have to be back at 7 when my husband goes to work. Don't laugh- but if I'm really sacked the night before I'll sleep in my walking clothes- I put my socks and shoes next to my bed- I put them on- brush my teeth- get a sip of water and I'm out the door. It helps if you can find a neighbor willing to walk with you- the guilt alone of leaving your friend waiting is enough for me. But usually she leaves me waiting- but that's okay I just go on with my walk.
When you get back drink lots of water and take your shower, then eat a good breakfast. Take some fruit as snacks for mid-morning- it seems to me when I walk in the am I get a drop in energy about 3 hours later- the fruit picks me right back up.
And if you're waking at 5 or 6 to walk make sure you are in bed no later than 9 or 10- you really need 8 good hours of sleep- and believe me once you start walking 2-3 miles every morning you will want to hit that pillow!

I use the gym that's located in the office building where I work, so it is really easy to just go in early, workout, then shower and get ready for work. Sometimes I think gettting ready there even saves me some time.

I'm too klutzy to exercise in the morning. I'm serious, I fall down and stuff like that. I have to have been awake a while before I try to exercise.
 
Find something you like to do, otherwise sleeping in will always seem better :p I use to go to a 6:30 AM yoga class and I am definetly not a morning person. I found that I was actually on time (and sometimes early :eek: ) for classes because I actually enjoyed going.
 
kamgen I will be there for Memorial Day weekend...are you going to be there then? Guys you can do it...once you see a little result, tyou want to keep going to make it better!
 
Since today was my first day on Atkins, I haven't started excersizing, but have decided to start in the morning...I am going to get up at 7:00 am and start with the weights and some sit ups...I need to start slow though, so I can work up to it...If I don't start doing it now, I never will...December is my goal to actually feel comfortable wearing clothes and not to constantly be tugging at them...:)
 
All of you early morning exercisers have my respect!!!! I used to do my power walk around 9 or 10, but now that DH and my sister walk with me, we go after dinner. D'oh!!!

Well, I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got up this morning and did the WATP 2 mile!!!!! It was awesome!
Thanks everyone....I just realized it is one day at a time and each day will be better if I challenge myself! :)
Last night I did the 3 mile WATP and this morning I woke up and did the 2 mile! Whew!!!!! :)

Glo- we will be at Vero Beach Memorial Weekend....then we are heading to WDW on May 29....will you guys still be there???

You can do it!!! Take it slowly one day at a time.


Beanie, instead of sit ups do crunches, better for your back and as effective. :)
 
Glo~ Darn it! Well, maybe next time!! :) So, we are probably working towards the same May trip goal.....swimsuits and shorts! LOL!!! :) I hope to get down another 5-7lbs by then....we'll see! :)

Way to go Kamy! I woke up at 5 this morning and thought about you and glo so by 5:30 I was out of bed and moving!! I got an hour of the NY City Ballet workout in and I feel great, although I know I'll be sore because it was working some muscles that I haven't used that way in awhile!! It felt great and I still feel great!! I think I can stick to this early morning workout thing!!

Man am I tired! Good thing I am headed home soon....tonight will be early to bed so I can get up tomorrow. I will think of all of you on EST who are up around 5:30am to exercise! Wish me luck for day two! :)
