So, last year my FI and I traveled to WDW durring a slow season (late April) and just used the passporter, and my knowledge of the parks from my 6 or 7 previous trips.

This year we are going for our honeymoon in early August --a much busier season and I already know that the UG will have helped me. The book is interesting and fun and provides great attack plans even if the parks are busy. I still have my new passporter, and I will use that a lot while we are there to jot down our experinces.

Just wanted to give my opinion because before I started reading it I was convinced that I didn't need another touring book (I also have WDW for Couples, Hidden Mickeys, and Trivia) No I know that I will not make another trip to WDW without the UG. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

There are many positive remarks regarding the UG. I asked for it for Christmas (nobody listened though).

is the best by far. I have never found the Passporter to be that helpful and that the format was its biggest draw over content. We get the UG every two years before a trip and always find new and helpful info.

Congrats!!!!!

I have the Passporter, Mini Mickey & the Unofficial Guide w/ children. I have never read the regular Unofficial Guide. I was thinking about purchasing it but figured it wouldn't have anything new in it. Maybe I should reconsider. :)

I love the UG!!!!

Bought the new book when it came out last fall, then was so happy to "have" to buy a new revised one at Easter when we headed out to the world and realized I left my old UG at home. In any event, it's well worth the money.

I always get the UG, but have never gotten the UG w/children. Is there anyone who can explain the virtues of one over the other? Thanks. :)

Was recommended to me when we started planning our trip for this August, have let two friends borrow it since they were going before us. Love it, should have waited because disney changed everything in January, but not OG fault.

I just got the UG last week (thanks to the recommendations from ya'll here at the DisBoards) and I absolutely LOVE it! It is so informative and the author ties in a lot of humor so that it isn't a hard read.

i am glad i got the updates... passporter has "updated information" you can print out, but it isn't as nice as just having the updated book. :smooth:

Thanks very much, funnybunny921! The revision went really well this year, and I think we wouldn't mind doing one every year going forward. I know Bob was going to mention it to the publisher.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Len,

I wanted to complement your data collection and also the explanation of "queing theory". I was an economics major and am a nerd at heart and was really impressed by the amount of research and programing that went into the touring plans-- not something you expect from a tour guide book. :cloud9:

I too love the book. It is so fun to read. Glad others enjoy it also. I am also wondering like a previous poster about the difference between the UG and the UG with children...can anyone please explain?

I'm one of those sad saps who reads the UG from cover to cover. I've even read the parts that don't really apply to me.

I made two trips to the world last year using the guide and they were my most efficient journeys to this point. I’ve actually applied the tips I got from the UG into my touring of other amusement parks. My favorite tip was the “Chuck Bubba”, and we’ve used that nearly everywhere.

I felt I got every penny’s worth out of the 2004 edition so I bought myself the 2005 copy for Christmas. I guess I’ll have to get the new one in 2006 so I can make sense out of Disney’s new ticketing strategy.

I have an old 1999 full version but I have been thinking about getting me a 2005 edition just because my 99 book is not as useful as it once was. I did buy the UG w/kids before our Feb 04 trip with our DS since it was our first visit with kids. It is just a mini-guide that gives more detailed info about what kinds of things you need to be prepared for when traveling with kids. There really is not that much extra info.

I buy the UG every year. I have looked at and read several other guide books but this one is more complete IMHO.

I do like the touring plans - we have used somewhat modified versions on each of our trips (somehwat modified because offseason trips we took in 2002 and 2003 did not really require much strategy).

I also like how the WDW resort info has improved. I only wish that other would ignore the 'best room location' sections so that I could continue to get them :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Mark us down as another UG family! We LOVE it! I've read the book(s) cover to cover many times! I've bought the newest version before planning each trip! Thanks for putting out such a great book and indespensible source in info! :)
