Except they're not forcing you to buy tickets to the existing parks, the single day tickets will be available for AP holders on Thursday.
I didn't want the risk of not getting tickets for this summer since they may sellout in two days. I understood their business strategy and my action was 100% voluntary. I just wanted to emphasize the potential outrage and double standard if Disney were to do something similar.

$513.32 - that's the price to visit Epic Universe on opening day. Adult 3-day ticket, 1 park per day, only 1 day which can be used at Epic. In 2 days, we'll have to see what the prices for single-day tickets are for AP holders.

Universal - quite a money grab.
Would you rather have this option or Epic-only ticket at $513/day? It's not a money grab if people are willing to pay for the product.

Not everything between the companies is a double standard.

That said when (and I say that in a cheeky way) Disney opens a new theme park I don't think the prevailing thought will be they won't have some sort of restriction on the APs, I'm pretty sure they will and it'll probably be pretty darn strict. Look how they still treat APs with park reservations still required depending on the circumstance, meanwhile does USO have those? No. Disney didn't even sell APs for a long time post-pandemic sooooo yeah. Basically I think you're making more of a thing on this especially when APs are able to purchase tickets instead of being barred period from the new park and let's be real here WDW would be far more likely to do prohibitive actions against their APs than Universal.

agreed.

A three day ticket to Disney for the same date is pretty much the same price - 1 park per day ticket. Yeah I can go to MK every day but for the most part with a 3 day ticket I would have to buy hopper for another 100 I think - to do the other 3 half day parks. I can stay on Property at Universal for a pretty reasonable price - not so much at Disney. Not even getting into G+ which you would need at a minimum.

It's all subjective but its pretty much what I was expecting - its a new park with limited capacity - at least its first come first served and not that ridiculous reservation system to control attendance - and as others said the Disney AP requiring reservations is a joke.

That said - if Universal does not make things right after the first few months with AP then I may change my tune.

Annoying only 3 day tickets are available. I’d like more days at the original parks. Have I missed the longer day tix? NEVER MIND- figured it out lol

And Universal is specifically giving the AP holders an advantage with a head start on buying 1 day tickets. They didn't need to do that, and it is appreciated.

I guess Shakespeare was "stupid" when he wrote Merchant of Venice. I guess anyone who has read Merchant of Venice is also "stupid.

Dear homies,
No need to stir the pot and call peeps stupid.
It’s just not being kind to each other.
If you do not agree with a statement, work your differences out privately.

We are adults and Shakespeare is dead.

When I receive a complaint from any poster, I take it seriously.

Yeah there was a lot of wondering how APs would fit into access to the new park, I think many were thinking APs wouldn't be included but hoped they would, this is meaning at opening because of course eventually they would no matter what.

Do you even have a Disney AP or you're just repeating the words of a few people? The park reservations only require a few seconds to complete. A person has to be extremely unmotivated in order to be barred from a park.

I'm impressed that you can predict the degree of prohibitive actions Disney may take against their APs for their future park(s). I'll worry about it when the time comes.

I booked Helios for two nights in September. Now I have to wait two days to buy AP one day tickets. :thumbsup2
Booked 3 nights in December. standard queen was $314+tax. Going to buy 2 - 1 day tickets on Thursday. If I don't like the price I can always cancel the room.
Also, how were you able to the Stay More rate? I'm choosing a string of like 4 or 5 nights Sunday-Thursday in September and all I'm seeing is the Seasonal rate at $357. I have the Preferred AP and it's saying the AP rate isn't available at this time.
I got a SMSM on 3 nights in Dec. Way too early for any AP rates, if they will have them at all.

But hasn’t it been announced that the single day AP tickets are a separate allotment and not part of the 3 day bucket? So the package sales don’t have any bearing on AP single tickets necessarily.

I think the price is pretty darn reasonable considering one day is a brand new park on opening weekend. A three day ticket to WDW over the same period is 488 per person.

There is strong FOMO with people and that’s obviously a smart business calculation since people are paying for a 3 day package even though they only want one day instead of just waiting 48 hours to buy single day tickets. But that is the consumers decision whether or not it’s worth it

I'm talking about the restrictions Disney still places on APs meaning they do not have free access (subject to their applicable block out dates related to the level of their pass) to the parks. They have rules they have to follow, rules that started during the pandemic and are still in play. You're saying that it's a double standard how people view Universal's process for APs on their new theme park but not at all considering how APs are still treated (which is more restrictive) at Disney.

I'm using past ways of how APs are handled at Disney (especially WDW where most discuss it as being treated less favorably than at DLR) and how they are currently handled, how they didn't have AP sales for several years period. None of this is at all a leap to look at how Disney could treat APs on an additional theme park.

If anyone's viewing it as a double standard I'd say it's you, based on your comments. As in you're glossing over how APs are treated at WDW and saying somehow Universal is treating APs worse when they are being given the ability to purchase a 1-day ticket that non-APs don't have that option. People didn't even really think APs would get something with Epic Universe and they are so it's a bit like looking a gift horse in the mouth here.

Yeah - I always book the SMSM rate and then hope for an AP rate. Id be surprised if they don't have them, but as always they are limited and maybe even more limited this year.

Hopefully they're holding 1-day tickets for APs, at least
They did say somewhere that they reserved tickets for AP holders for the first week - how many will that be though.

Agreed - and they have alluded to soft opening opportunities - which makes decision making for us out of staters even more difficult.

I'm asking my Orlando DISer friends who are APs what their plan is because I could see it going both ways with them, staying away due to the initial crowds and ticket purchasing knowing that being local makes it easier to visit on the fly in the future compared to us who would need to make a trip out of it but also wanting to be part of the opening action. One works for Disney so that might make their decision for them depending on their work schedule.

I'm wondering if there's been consideration in the background for FL resident APs vs out of state APs in the allocation. Probably a moot point assuming they sell out fast for that first week but your comment piqued my thought on that.

I can generally book dirt cheap air through Frontier. I'm going to try and get AP preview and/or single day AP the first week or so.
