universal bans bottled water

From further investigation, it sounds like this is to stop people sneaking in alcohol for Mardi Gras. Still would suck to be forced to pay theme park prices for water.

Eh....I seriously doubt banning bottled water will deter many people from visiting.

Umm...did anyone actually read this?

Spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email "this is the result of a review of our procedures and is not permanent." He would not say how long the ban would last.

Yeah, not permanent until some bean counter looks at beverage sales during the ban.

Yup....and permanent or not, if you're the one there now, you don't care if it's permanent. Sounds from the article like there was no warning to the guests either.

I never carry water with us at any theme park. It wouldn't bother me if either Disney or Universal did this.

Sounds like maybe they've had issue with people over indulging during Mardi Gras in the past.

It also sounds incredibly wasteful. All those bottles of water are being thrown away because Universal didn't notify guests that they would not be allowed to bring them in. I haven't been to US in years, but if it was allowed up until that morning and they changed without warning I would be very upset. Obviously US would be under the same obligation to provide free ice water as Disney?

I wonder if Disney will do the same for Mardi Gras, and New Years Eve? What's good for one is good for all I suppose. Bad trend....

so i wonder if they will give you free iced water in the restaurants if you ask?

cal :)
