I just happened to glance at a post that said united had changed it's carry on allowance and reduced the sizes of the bags? CRAP!!! I just bought a samsonite carryon suitcase. It's approx .5" too wide, 1" too high.
I haven't flown with united in years, are they really sticklers for sizes? I'm flying out of a smaller airport, Kansas City, not sure if that makes a difference at all, but we have a layover in Cleveland. We will have layovers on the way back too. I spent $80 on this bag and I would hate to return it because I love it so much.
If it's that little of a difference, will they really fuss about it? ugh.

I'll try to find a smaller one I guess. I wanted to have ample room to put a change of clothes in for each family member as our flight gets in late, and with DME, we won't get our luggage till the next morning.
hubby's backpack JUST fits for the carry-on. I have a soft sided carryon I will try to put less items in (it is just at the measurements), and I guess we may just pick up our own luggage instead of putting the yellow tags on.
