Underwater Digital Camera Info - Different Models (merged threads)

Bevtoy!!! Be very careful about the deal you found. I saw that deal on Friday and was about to make the purchase but decided to look into the company. They have very bad ratings! Do a google search on the company name and you will find lots of negative ratings - I found no good ones.

I purchase a refurbished Olympus 850 on Ebay for $126.00 just recently and it is in perfect condition. The auction was from Olympusauctions. I received it within the week and am very happy with it!

:goodvibes

I just purchased a refurbished Olympus 1030 on ebay for $208! I wasn't sure about buying refurbished but after reading the information on the Olympus website and some other comments on buying refurbished I decided to give a shot.

Oh wow thanks for the heads up I am calling my credit card company tomorrow and canceling the order.
Actually I canceled my card and had it reissued with new numbers. After I read what that company does I was shocked. I am going to edit the name from my previous post they are awful!

I got a new one off of Ebay but I got lucky! Its got a summer package and wasn't listed properly so it was 175 with free shipping, a floating wrist strap and a case. :woohoo:
I am so tickled!

Just beware when you buy things through auction sites like eBay. make sure you are getting the USA version, not the grey market version. There are differences with the warranty rules.

I know there were a lot of people waiting for the Canon D10 to come out. I received mine in the mail today and am so pleased. The underwater pictures are fantastic and the outside pictures are equally as good. I wanted to post some of the pictures, but there is no place for an attachment when I post. I guess this is probably because I haven't posted enough. If you are looking into this camera, PM me your e-mail address and I will be happy to e-mail you some. Ali

I'm so glad you like it Ali!!

You need to host the pictures somewhere like photobucket. When you upload them to photobucket, theres an address underneath it that you cut and paste onto your posts.

Those are not good instructions, I know someone has posted better ones somewhere around here!

The DIS has it's own place to host photos too
http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/

You need to upload the photos to that site.
Click on your photo to enlarge it to full size
Right click and copy the properties
Go back to your post, click on the Image box (yellow box with a mountain) and paste your photo link in there

ballpark price for the Canon??

I'm thinking waterproof cameras might be a great gift for grandma to give our kids but she, too, has a budget.

I would love to see pics once you post them. I to am interested in this camera.

I just picked one up to be my "throw in my purse" camera when I don't want to lug my dslr around. I paid $330. We got our DDs the waterproof Olympus models 2 years ago at a similar price point. Pricey for kids, yes however they are waterproof, "drop proof" from 5 to 10 feet depending on the model, can go outside in varying degrees coldness depending on the model which we felt were important given that they're kids. I felt that if we paid $100 or so for cameras and they broke then someone would be bucking up again either for new cameras or more throw aways and their developing costs. The cameras are my DDs prized possessions along with their iPods and have taken great care of them and have been worth our investment. They download their photos, email them to friends, do a little photo editing. Plus with the features those cameras have along with a decent megapixel count, they're set for awhile.

I just bought mine at www.photoloon.com for $309 with free shipping. Once I get it, I'll post back with my purchase experience. This seller has a good rating.

I was supposed to get it for Mother's Day. I guess my hinting wasn't "loud" enough. I just checked with my husband and asked "Did you do anything about the camera I wanted?" His response was "What camera?" So, I did a bit of research for the cheapest price and ended up at this seller.

I did notice that a lot of their accessories are way overpriced...and only bought the camera. I'll be getting an extra battery and a 4G SD card somewhere else.

Thanks for the website Crazzzy. The camera price on your site is the best I've found. Your right about their accessory prices....ouch. They do have a buy one get one free deal but it still seems high.

I've had good luck in the past buying memory cards off of ebay. I saw several 8G listed for less than $30..........just a thought.

glad to see another positive review for this camera.

it's surprising that i haven't found it in any stores yet and sites like amazon don't have it either.

Please send me some pictures. I am trying to decide which underwater camera to buy and would love to see the cannon!
TIA

Thank you Ali for emailing me the pictures. If it is okay with you, I can post the pictures for others to see for you. The pictures are very colorful and great detail. Very clear. I think this helped me make up my mind.
