Underwater Digital Camera Info - Different Models (merged threads)

I have an Olympus that I love. Takes really nice pictures and has a feature that you can use when snorkeling that lets you just tap the top/sides of the camera to change settings, take the pic etc, eliminates fumbling to turn dials/push buttons when you can't see all that well. You do have to rinse it off with freshwater after it has been in saltwater so I keep a big bottle of water on the beach just for this.

My brother had the Canon D10 on a southern Caribbean we took this past April. It took outstanding photos above and below the water...some of the pics he got while snorkeling/free diving of fish/coral/sea turtles are incredible! We're planning to get this camera before our 10/2010 cruise this fall.

We bought the Canon D10 for our cruise and we really like it. I think it does a great job both in and out of water. Here is a picture taken in the water w/o the water setting (forget to change it) and it still did a good job:

I hope you don't mind, let me know if this bothers you, but don't give up on a picture that isn't perfect.. You can do a lot with software these days. I took your picture, and did a few simple corrections in Adobe photoshop Elements ($99), and this is what your picture now looks like: (and if you are willing to spend more than 5 minutes on it, it could be made even better)..

I have the Olympus 8000 tough 12 MP that I bought last fall for use on our DCL and underwater photos at Castaway Cay. Unfortunately, I have few underwater photos (weather did not cooperate on the cruise and water here in the northeast is usually cloudy), so I don't have much to show for underwater quality.

The videos and normal stills were great quality, and it held up well. Until our 11 year old daughter took it to the beach (see earlier post). I took my chances and sent it back to Olympus to have it checked, and just found out today via their user friendly website that the repairs are covered under warranty and they plan to ship the camera back on Friday.:banana::banana:

I just wanted to update all here that I am very impressed so far with Olympus warranty service (the camera was purchased nearly a year ago in early September, right down to the finish line on the one year warranty period).

Does anyone have a housing for their Canon T2i? Which brand? Do you like it? etc.
