Resort Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

We were there 3/18-3/22. The construction didn’t bother, but then again we were not at the hotel for long each day.
We did get in Trader Sam's. It was my daughter’s first legal drink. Very nice there, but I do not think it is worth more than a 15 wait. Especially when you get the same drinks outside.

I was surprised how little this bothered me. Because these pictures make it look like a big eye sore, but when I was ther,e you hardly are looking at it in this area--you're either sitting at a table enjoying your food, or your facing towards the lake/castle/pool area.

That being said, if it's pushing the tables to be moved around (which it is) it does make the seating area split a bit.

Sheathing Added to New Bus Depot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Sheathing and some themed planks have been added to the new bus depot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The bus stop remains blocked from guest access with plastic barriers. The sidewalk has been fully paved, however, and there is landscaping underway.

The sidewalk connects to a crossing walk leading into the parking lot. When open, it will connect to the sidewalk for the resort’s main entrance.

The new bus depot has been under construction for several months. A new roadway entrance to the resort opened in December. The old entrance is being converted to a bus entrance that will lead to this station.

In our last construction update, the station had received corrugated roofing. That has been covered by weather-proof sheathing.

The underside of the roof has light brown paneling. The supports are still gray, but we expect these to be painted a shade of brown to match the rest of the resort. The roof will be covered with a final layer, likely also a shade of brown or potentially thatching.

Some of the sidewalk and roadway around the station still needs to be paved. But there is a fresh patch of black pavement stretching away on one side.

There’s no announced completion date for the bus depot but Disney did state refurbishment around the resort would continue through 2026.

I semi impulsively booked the poly for Memorial Day weekend because I got a great rate and am now just seeing all these construction photos. Any advice on where to look for the latest updates to get a sense of the scope of work? This is a resort heavy stay and planned to spend time by the pool and splash pad and on the tiki terrace and don’t want to hear hammering all day so debating switching to the contemporary even though I really wanted to get back to the poly! I don’t care about the front of the resort being under construction but it does seem like it’s the back of the main building too, right?

The tiki terrace looks included at least now. However a hidden gem is the Oasis pool bar! It’s never crowded! They have a great food menu too! You can also go to the pool by the tower and eat at waialulu as well. So many options at Poly. I pick poly over cr every time if price is good.

Book both and watch?

Yes the work with all the Scaffolding is on the back of the GCH. It is not hammer banging intensive at the moment but does include the Tiki Terrace part of the building but it is open, with the outdoor seating still available.

The external stair replacement at the Aotearoa longhouse is almost done or will be done by your visit. The view from O'hana & Tambu Lounge may still have limited views.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Boat Dock Closing in May 2026 for Maintenance

Disney has updated the refurbishment notice for Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, with the boat dock set to close for routine maintenance beginning May 11.

The dock will be closed and boat transportation suspended from May 11 through June 5. Broader dock maintenance work continues through late June.

You should plan for alternate transportation to Magic Kingdom and other destinations typically served by the resort's boat service during that period, including bus, monorail or walkway. Disney advises allowing extra travel time when arriving at or departing the resort.

Construction activity will be visible during daytime hours, though Disney says efforts will be made to minimize disruptions.

The dock closure is the latest update to ongoing refurbishment work at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows that runs through 2026. That work includes a reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area. Resort dining, pools, and most amenities remain open, though some views of the theme parks and surrounding areas may be impacted.

Having mid morning breakfast at Ohana’s middle of June (14th). Was planning on valet parking the car for the day and heading to MK after breakfast. What will be my bedt transportation options - will the boat be available? How crowded/slow (having to stop at Grand Floridian) is the monorail from the Poly around 11:30? Or should I just plan on parking at TTC and walking in the back way to Ohana and back out again and go to MK via ferry or monorail from TTC

May I ask why it might matter to your? The store in the GCH sells Heinz Tomato Ketchup in 14 oz bottles if that will work for you.

Dave
Because ketchup packets are gross and take too long to open when you can just pump quickly. Personal preference. But great to know we can buy bottles. We did that last year at French quarter.

Not sure , I don’t usually have a car but I thought you can only park for the dining res/time limit .

You can park at poly to start if running late, move car after eating to TTC. Or just park at TTC. Yiu can walk or mono to GCH and ohana. Pretty quick either way.

After you eat if parked at TTC , then mono to MK. Stop at GF is quick.

Going back to TTC from poly to get t0 MK will make your trip longer. If boat dock at poly is open then you can boat after eating from poly direct to MK.

Yes you will be able to Valet park at the Poly. Valet Parking is $42 (plus tax) while parking at the (TTC) for Magic Kingdom is $35 per day for passenger vehicles. Will you be onsite guests staying at another resort or staying offsite but with an ADR at Ohana'. Then you should be able to self-park for up to 3 hours.

The resort Monorail should not be busy at 11:30 AM. The resort launch from the Poly dock should be working by Mid-June since the closure is scheduled to end on June 5th but there will still be ongoing dock work.

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Closed for Refurbishment at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, the outdoor patio bar next to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, is currently closed for refurbishment at Walt Disney World.

The refurbishment is listed on the Walt Disney World website. No reopening date is currently known. Fortunately, the nearby Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto opens at 11 a.m. every day for Tiki drinks and food. The Tiki Terrace was also previously open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Wanted to add this from WDW Magic:

The outdoor bar and lounge area has no operating hours listed on the Disney website as far out as the calendar currently shows - through June 11, 2026.
