Underwater Digital Camera Info - Different Models (merged threads)

I ordered mine on 5/18 from Butterflyphoto.com for $304.90. They also have free shipping! I just checked and the price is still the same. :)

I went to that Photoloon site ya'll posted and the price has went down. It's $275 w/ free shipping if you're talking about the Canon Powershot D10 12.1 MegaPixel WaterProof Digital Camera.

Oh now that's not right!!!! Last night and this morning it was $275 and this afternoon, it's $299. Just when I went to order it. Guess I've got several months to go, I'll wait and keep checking back and see if the price goes down again.

Same... I looked at it this morning and it was $275. I also have several months before I'll need it, so I'm waiting. I'm hoping it'll be like most electronics and the price will come down in the next few months. If not, its release will probably mean that other brands will lower the prices on the models they already have released.

I sent an email to www.photoloon.com today to ask them about my order since I ordered it more than a week ago and they told me Monday that it would be another week and a half before I got it. I ordered for $309 with free shipping and felt that was a good deal. Since they were offering it for $275 I asked for them to change my price to $275 or cancel my order. They cancelled my order without responding to my email or calling me. Of course now the price is $299.

I believe I am also going to wait a bit and see how it plays out. We don't need the camera until August. I doubt I'll order from www.photoloon.com though. Their customer service was lacking.

HA! Not to be outdone. It's on www.broadwayphoto.com for $279
Free Shipping AND it comes with the Promotional Kit (Tripod, Cleaning Kit, LCD Protector) for free when you order online. Take that PhotoLoon!
I tried to give you my business....

Maybe their customer service is better Crazzzy!

Everyone who has or will have it soon, let me know please what you
think of the battery life.

Thanks!

Today my DH surprised me with the waterproof Canon D10 digital camera for my birthday!!! I am so excited, I have been stalking this camera since they released it a few weeks ago!!!! I love it!

Thanks Wendy! I'll let you know how my experience goes. Little do they know I have the time, energy & resources to show up on their doorstep and make them miserable! LOL

Would you say that the olympus 850 is good for video too??

Here is a link to my video from this past January's Eastern Cruise (I did not take any video on the October cruise).

I did not take any underwater video...this I took on Deck 9 as the waves were making the pool slosh around a bit.

I think the 850 is an all 'round good underwater camera. Costco had the next level up Olympus underwater digital last month for $199.

Kritter-I just got this camera from Sam's for $160. It seems to be a good little camera. I've tested out in a pool and the pics turned out good. It's hard to take underwater pics cause it's hard to see what you're taking pic of. The camera seems a little noiser than my Sony. I haven't tkae much video but that seems good too.

Hi everyone! I'm back from my cruise. I must say we had a lot of fun with the Canon d10. The kids carried it around all the time. My son took a few videos with it. Here's some pics:

I have merged the Canon D10 underwater camera thread with this one to keep all the underwater camera info in one place.....just in case someone was looking for the other thread:thumbsup2

Well, I had no idea this thread existed! I wish I'd seen it a few days ago!

See I've had my digital camera for too many years to count- and after the LAST cruise before this most recent one (ie: PC repo back in Aug/Sept) my DH had told me to buy a new one (because it was missing photos, put wrong date on photos when it wasn't set to put dates on it, etc.) but I didn't listen... and it worked fine after that- until this recent cruise when it did the same thing! Except this time I lost all our photos of Fort Wilderness and also all but the first day of the cruise the photos have a huge date on it that's wrong! (started at 1/2/2005) and again I hadn't set it to put the date on it.

I think I figured out what the problem is... at home if the light starts blinking red (meaning batteries almost dead) I'd replace them right away before the batteries completely died. When on vacation I tend to keep on trying to take photos until the batteries completely die- mostly because I'm not usually carrying around extra batteries and/or just don't have extra batteries with me right then and/or don't want to miss the moment I'm wanting to capture photos of to mess with getting out the batteries and changing them. I think something is going on when I run the batteries completely dead that is messing up the camera.
I did notice after I did that and then put in new batteries that it would ask me something like um... I can't remember the words it uses but it would ask me if I wanted to do something and I'd choose 'no" and go on taking photos. Apparently that's a big mistake and I've FINALLY learned my lesson!

So DH says buy a new camera (and I hate change- not looking forward to getting used to a new camera, anxious about if I'll get one that takes pics as well as mine, etc.) PLUS he's wanting an underwater camera... and not one that only goes 10-30ft deep.. he wants one that he can take photos while scuba diving (instead of using disposables like he's been using). so I looked around for about a week after returning from our recent cruise- and finally decided on a digital camera that I can use regularly- but comes with the housing that makes it waterproof down to 180ft so he can use it when scuba diving.

I HOPE it works out well.. I tried to find as many reviews as possible and they all seemed pretty good. I also bought the red filter and some flash diffuser thing since the only negative things i heard about the camera was that these two things were necessary to take "better" photos at great depths underwater. It's an Intova ic800. I hope no one tells me it's a horrible camera! this is also the first time I've bought one online and not just ran to walmart to get one. LOL My old camera (that I still use right now) is a Kodak Easyshare cd43... and the one I had before that was an Olympus but that was many many years ago. My Kodak is only 4mp. LOL

I'll post back how well it takes photos both above and below water... and hopefully I'll be able to give it a good review! Does anyone else have that camera?

Sorry you had not seen this before....it has been around since last year...coming and going from time to time!!

eh- no one's fault but my own! I have a tendency to just look at the first page- occasionally the second page if I'm really bored late at night. First page of this forum and a few others I mean. LOL But sometimes reading trip reports wins over going to the 2nd page of this forum. So like I said- it's my own fault for not seeing this before tonight! :lmao:
