Twelve Months of Training and Travel

What do you eat before, during (I didn't even know about that!), or after a run? I never thought about any of that, I mean it makes sense (your car analogy did make sense to me- someone who knows nothing about cars)!

Oh man, I can see where you'd get a headache keeping up with the October tot hotel stuff!
Congratulations on booking the Avengers race, again that would be tons of fun and what s bonus steve gets his c2c medal! Funny how the unplanned trips are usually the easiest!
Thank hotel for you and Cynthia looks grand! You will have lots of fun! The comment about the crack between the 2 of you, I knew you weren't on it I had just never heard someone saying that to someone! So while I was in shock I kinda figured it was just a friend to friend thing, I didn't know a lot of people said that!
And with that I am all caught up :)

I read the first couple while mads finished a nap and k and d ate. I have to say that it may be nice to have an early night on flight day! If anything you could always tour hotels or dtd for some Disney magic!

I think that a low key evening that first night will be great! After what happened in January, I really need to stick to my guns on what I feel is a better plan. Rest up that first night is important!!

love that steve will race with you, I am hoping k gets that bug that's why I have them coming with me for the phm! He doesn't know this... But I do:)

Well, we have yet to run a race "together" We really are hoping that ToT will be a fun one that we can just kinda enjoy and run together. It will actually be a training run after all for the half in November. We will see though. His chrons may be coming out of remission. It might just be a minor flare... due to him taking so much time off of running since getting back from the donald. When he got pneumonia in July and took the same amount of time off, he had a flare and it got kicked back down when he pushed through and ran anyway. We both are hoping that he can do the same again.

I love those pictures of Kira and Zoe! So cute!

Thanks. Josh took some really good pictures of them. :goodvibes

Sorry I have to keep reading a little and replying, I am on the phone while the baby is sleeping and I don't want to forget what I wanted to add!

No problem! I am just glad you are here and getting caught up.
I want to check out that site when I get my computer hooked up again and I get a race in!

Are we talking runningintheusa one? Or athlinks? I love both those sites. One for races in your area and the other for tracking ones you have done. So cool.

I am sorry about your in laws, my grandpa does that but I am not like you, I get upset!

Thanks. It is frustrating, and I do get upset from time to time. However not liking what someone does and getting angry are kinda different. I don't like that they do it... but what am I gonna do about it? If I yell and scream about it it won't change anything. All I can do is be in control of how I do things and my behavior.... and in the love them despite theirs. After all, they are in their 60's and it is very unlikely at this point they will change. (no matter how much I hope they will at times)

Glad that you booked the trip to Tampa, I am sure 3 days you'd find something if that happened!

Tampa will definitely be something different. I just hope it was the right choice. I can tend to second guess myself way too much. When I listed it out with pros and cons on paper though, it did seem to make the most sense.

I liked having a car at Disney! But is it as hard to get around in a car as people keep saying during the races?

I think that would depend on where you are staying. If you read my TR for January, I do have some trouble the night before - I think - the 10k race. It was going to MK though and just that ONE time. Overall it worked amazingly well. Given that Marathon weekend is the largest event... and I made it through mostly fine, I would say that a car is not a problem. Oh... and I guess we had a car in the fall too for ToT. Not a single problem then. I actually think the car made the expo at both race weekends much easier. :thumbsup2

I am actually on the lookout for new luggage so thank you for that! I let someone use my luggage and it came back ripped!

Unfortunately that sale is off. AND I am so mad.. they ran out of one of my pieces of luggage I ordered. (the larger one) So only one will be coming. At least they didn't charge me shipping. I think there are more sales there though.

Avengers sounds fun! Maybe they will have the people from the show there! K isn't into that, but D would be!

I honestly am not sure I care about who is on the course (although maybe it would be fun to see the Hulk) I am in it to support Steve in getting his C2C and for getting in on an inaugural race.
Okay, I am almost caught up :)

:cool1:

What do you eat before, during (I didn't even know about that!), or after a run? I never thought about any of that, I mean it makes sense (your car analogy did make sense to me- someone who knows nothing about cars)!

Everyone is different. What one person can have another would totally :crazy2: at. Also time and amount is different.

Since I had never ran before, could not run more than a minute at a time and given I have blood sugar issues - I chose to start off by eating one bean per mile as well as carrying a water bottle. For more experienced runners, I don't think that is as necessary. Really at this point, I probably don't need anything until about an hour in. However, I am a little ADD and having that proverbial carrot in front of me is great motivation. I have tried other "fuel" the jelly belly sports beans are great... I don't care at all for gu or cliff shots. Honey Stinger has chews that I REALLY like. They have so much flavor... even the smell is amazing. No fuel has set off my tummy... and other than the gu or shots being hard to swallow because of texture, I can tolerate about any of it.

Pre run, you need some carbs and a little protein. (limit refined sugar and fat) There is also a factor in how long before the run you eat it that you need to consider. Closer to the run... more carb... longer..more protein. Protein helps to delay the digestion of the sugar.... So if I am just gonna head out immediately, I might have some oatmeal. If I have at least a half hour.. peanut butter on toast. Longer than a half hour... peanut butter on a bagel.

Post run, you need protein and fat and some carbs and some salt. Just basically, get your electrolytes back in balance and EAT. Seriously though, chocolate.. and better yet.. chocolate milk is a great recovery food. Personally I have seriously been falling down with this. I wasn't doing much of anything... running has become easier so getting back from a 4 to 6 mile run doesnt feel like I need to recover...so I just got to forgetting. I don't think it is a surprise that I was doing worse and worse during runs. I am having to make a conscious effort to remedy it. I make sure to get in my electrolytes by drinking at least a glass of nuun. It is hard though cause often I am running out to work after a run. I then try to have a mocha... and that helps some.

Oh man, I can see where you'd get a headache keeping up with the October tot hotel stuff!

I think the problem is I know I want to stay at certain places...and because of the addition... I have to limit myself. I am happy to do so. After all, at the end of the day... having alone time with Steve and yet also having his folks and the girls there... it will be amazing. I just wish I didn't have to allocate so many points to it.

Just tonight I saw a studio at WL available for the entire last 4 days. With the recent remodel.. I just am in LOVE with how it is (a pull down murphy bed with bambi on it???) I would stay there in a heart beat if I didn't need to get two of them. Even just one at WL and one at OKW is more points... and I really need to not spend any more on this trip than I already have. If we went down to just one studio though.. it would save me quite a bit of points. The room sleeps 5 and a part of me is frustrated that we can't somehow make that work.

Congratulations on booking the Avengers race,

Well, I haven't registered yet. I am worried about how fast it will sell out. I read today that DVC will get a crack at registration on the 19th...so maybe that advantage will work in my favor. I do have the room booked. If we don't get registered then we will just cancel that room.

that would be tons of fun and what s bonus steve gets his c2c medal!

It will be a lot of fun for sure!
Funny how the unplanned trips are usually the easiest!

Sometimes they can be! What I think it really is about though is just the length of stay and how many people. There are 6 of us to consider for October. For August though... just two. So it is simple. I ask Cynthia how she feels about x.. she tells me then and there and that is all there is to it. (and visa versa) There isn't the back and forth...what does this person think and then - wait, now that persons thought affect what another person thinks.. and so on and so on. Not a lot of waiting for someone else to take care of something. (although Cynthia may have had to wait for me to respond when we booked the last two seats on our return flight. :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao: I had a feeling it was just a regional thing. I hear it said up here a lot! I suspected it wasn't the case in other parts of the country. So if you come up to the Seattle area and you ask someone if something is good and they respond "oh yeah, it is like crack". Please know they are just saying it is really good...addictively so. And if you ask something that someone finds ridiculous... don't be surprised if they ask if you are on crack. ;)

And with that I am all caught up :)

:cool1::cool1:

Okay, I finally re-read the ToT accommodations story! :rotfl2: Congrats on getting it all sorted out and I hope the BWV studios come through for you!

Sounds like you were very thoughtful and considerate of all of your traveling companions throughout the entire process. I totally get the feeling of wanting to impress the "non-Disney" people that are coming on the trip with you. It's a lot of pressure!

Clearly we take drug addiction seriously here in Seattle. Lol!!! It is funny isn't it, it's a very common expression around here.

What is wrong with us up here? Is it just up here? Or a west coast thing??

Seriously though, it isn't meant to be insensitive... really it isn't. :goodvibes

Okay, I finally re-read the ToT accommodations story! :rotfl2:

I am glad you were able to get through it. :goodvibes So many twists and turns. It really is unnecessary drama I create... but I guess that is just how I plan.
Congrats on getting it all sorted out and I hope the BWV studios come through for you!

Thank you! I really wish I could hope that it will come through. I just don't see it happening. The fact it is after the race is a little better than it would be if I was trying for race weekend, but it is still Food and Wine festival time.

Sounds like you were very thoughtful and considerate of all of your traveling companions throughout the entire process

I tried to be. It isn't like any of them had THAT big of requests. (mainly just each their own bed) It is nice that a lot of rooms (including some studios) are now sleeping 5, but that doesn't help when you have six and when all 4 of the 6 need their own bed.

I totally get the feeling of wanting to impress the "non-Disney" people that are coming on the trip with you. It's a lot of pressure!

It was and is. I not only had to figure out a place that was nice but not too "fake" as well as someplace with activities that could occupy their time (since they won't be going to the parks) AND that I could afford points at. :rotfl: My next task will be deciding where to eat... again without entering the parks.

We say this all the time in the Chicago area.. usually I like to add stuff like "Are you smoking Crack?" to someone who just did something that doesn't make a lot of sense......

I think you may have just made Cynthia and I feel a whole lot better. (at least you did me. ;))

Yeah we did that hotel hopping our first night and I enjoyed it! And I was coming from the same time zone :)

How has his chrones been since he's been running, has it helped? Well at least each of you know the other is somewhere in the race with goodvibes for you!

Well I was referring to athlinks, but I will check the other one out too, I think you gave me the other one last year and it's saved on my computer! I am still waiting for that to get hooked up!

Yeah, I would get upset. But I tell them, not that it makes a difference or that my in laws would understand, but I hope it works out and they don't change plans!

There is actually a website called roadside America and you can see stuff to do around Tampa just to keep in mind in case something happens and plans change!

Oh my, thank you for that information about running! That is good, I always see these recovery aides in bj's- forgot the name/brand, but I will have to buy some at the grocery to check it out before I commit to a huge box! I am just a little curious with a stupid question- do you eat that while running? I plan on putting the info up on the fridge to keep in mind! If I have everything set up it will be easier to start up right!

And I hope you get into it! That will be fun! Hopefully with the registration opening for dvc you will have a better chance than some!

And I didn't mean to make you feel bad about that, I just thought it was an inside joke between you guys! I didn't know it went into other places too! Haha, maybe it's everywhere but long island!

Yeah we did that hotel hopping our first night and I enjoyed it! And I was coming from the same time zone :)

I really am not a huge fan of short split stays...but definitely doable and a cool way to get a feel for a resort you might want to try.

How has his chrones been since he's been running, has it helped? Well at least each of you know the other is somewhere in the race with goodvibes for you!

Running has kept it in remission. The anti inflammatories and natural steroids work way better than any prescription ever could.

Well I was referring to athlinks, but I will check the other one out too, I think you gave me the other one last year and it's saved on my computer! I am still waiting for that to get hooked up!

I love athlinks  I am not sure everyone would be so enamored. I like to see my stats... I care about such things. I think it is ok that I do, but I also recognize it doesn't have to be something others care about. I also could imagine it wouldn't be as fun to see those stats if you didn't also see your improvement. I started all in the red and now I am in the green. Gives me a good feeling....

Yeah, I would get upset. But I tell them, not that it makes a difference or that my in laws would understand, but I hope it works out and they don't change plans!

Well, they won't. They may try. If they try too close to our dates, yes.. they will get an earful from me. I mean, if they bail completely - I seriously do not need a 2 bedroom for 4 of us! I could use the points in so many other ways. So they need to come or give me at least enough time to change my reservation (like before August) I will be sure to make that point to them. That they have until August to change their minds. After that there is no changing (baring death or illness in the family of course).

There is actually a website called roadside America and you can see stuff to do around Tampa just to keep in mind in case something happens and plans change!

Well, even if they end up with plans when we are down south... we will be right on the beach. Steve and the girls can play in the sand while I read and play on dis. We don't need them to be there for that to happen. It just would be nice since we are staying with them for them to be there.

Oh my, thank you for that information about running! That is good, I always see these recovery aides in bj's- forgot the name/brand, but I will have to buy some at the grocery to check it out before I commit to a huge box!

Always try a little first... that is a wise plan! :thumbsup2

I am just a little curious with a stupid question- do you eat that while running?plan on putting the info up on the fridge to keep in mind! If I have everything set up it will be easier to start up right!

::yes:: while running. I pop the fuel in my mouth as I am running along.

And I hope you get into it! That will be fun! Hopefully with the registration opening for dvc you will have a better chance than some!

Thanks! I am really hoping. If it doesn't happen though, I will attempt to get into RnR in Vegas. Either way, I am doing a night race that weekend and having a weekend away with Steve!!!

And I didn't mean to make you feel bad about that, I just thought it was an inside joke between you guys! I didn't know it went into other places too! Haha, maybe it's everywhere but long island!

No... you didn't! I just think it is funny. :goodvibes

Ann I have a question. Well not really a question, more a frustration. So we booked our package through a TA, through RunDisney. I noticed I can see my hotel reservations online, but not the park tickets. My TA called them and found out that my park tickets will be waiting for us when we check into our hotel, which means we can't make any FastPass+ reservations until we check in.

Has this ever happened to you? We got a 30% discount on the park tickets for 7 day hoppers, and they are telling me that the only solution is to take those tickets off the package and pay full price (at the newly-increased rates) for 7 day hoppers today.

It's these kinds of things that really make me wonder why Disney can't just get their act together and make everything more seamless. We already have two different reservations, because the RD discount expires on 10/7 and we want to stay til the 9th.

Glad to see you have your October accommodations nailed down. That's progress for sure. And your DL hotel looks super cute. I am sure it will work out perfect for you.

And, yes, points are meant to be spent. :thumbsup2

What do you eat before, during (I didn't even know about that!), or after a run? I never thought about any of that, I mean it makes sense (your car analogy did make sense to me- someone who knows nothing about cars)!

Jumping in here just to say everyone is different. Experiment with what works for you and the only way to know is to try. Me, I do not eat a thing before running unless the run will be after 11am or even noon. But that's me. I generally do not eat breakfast, instead I eat a early lunch. To do otherwise on a run or workout day just throws me entirely off.

I do have coffee. 1 cup only. This is what works for me and while it may not be the "healthiest" according to some, and most nutrition folks might shake their head, it works for me. It's also what I've been doing forever so there is part of that that is a routine I am used to and comfortable with. That being said...when I know I will be out for more than 2 hours total hiking (or back when I cycled a lot), we do snack about half way through and hydrate. I am approaching fueling while running somewhat the same. I've tested raisins, stinger waffles and shot blocks so far. For me I can't say I noticed a difference. but it hasn't been a ton of fuel either. 1/2 a waffle (delish but messy and you need water so that's not practical), about 6 raisins before heading out and then 30 min in, and then 1 shot block 30 min in...that was probably my favorite as I could "savor" it for quite a while. I tried the margarita one :lmao: I have a very low tolerance for sugar and while I wanted the electrolytes I wanted the savory more than the sweeter options out there. As I go further in my distances and am out running for a longer period of time (furthest is about 8.5 for running and a little bit over an hour) I will play around more.

I have a very hard time eating right away afterwards. This is true after any workout. While I know I "should", and I definitely hydrate right away, I typically eat about an hour after and I believe they suggest within 20-30 minutes. Only point being, everyone is different and experimenting is key,

Jumping in here too, I read on one of the FB groups today that this is true of all RD tickets, no FP+.

Which is rotten if you ask me but I guess that's the trade off for the great discount.

I've been hearing this too & they must have JUST changed this.. because I had RunDisney tickets for Wine and Dine in November and I WAS able to put them in and get FP+ reservations!

Such a bummer if this is true.

I saw the announcement that they finally expect AP to get Magic Bands by end of March- why would it be so hard to give it to RunDisney folks as well? We are paying buko bucks to run those races and even for park tickets/hotels with the discount.........

Boo on Disney if this is true.

I think Cynthia is correct. RD tickets are odd. Honestly I haven't paid super close attention to what is said about them, but I know I have read all sorts of headaches regarding them. They are great for one thing getting into the parks cheaper than you normally could. But you can't link them... can't upgrade them... can't get them ahead of time... at least I don't think you can.

Has this ever happened to you? We got a 30% discount on the park tickets for 7 day hoppers, and they are telling me that the only solution is to take those tickets off the package and pay full price (at the newly-increased rates) for 7 day hoppers today.

Is it possible to cancel the trip and rebook? One reason I have never paid too close attention is because I have always found the public offer to be better and thus I have never used RD for their discount packages. Maybe you could book a package with the public offer? For example... fd is likely to come out. In that case, it is likely it would be a better fit.

It's these kinds of things that really make me wonder why Disney can't just get their act together and make everything more seamless. We already have two different reservations, because the RD discount expires on 10/7 and we want to stay til the 9th.

I think part of it has to do with it actually being different groups. You have Disney travel... and Run Disney. I think it is like having two separate TA's you are going with for one trip. I do agree though... it shouldn't be so difficult

ADR day is just weeks away... we will have to touch base and figure out a way to fit in a drink together! (reason I mention ADR is so that we know if we are both say dining at the same resort or park...we can plan something there) OR maybe just meet up in Epcot one day?

Glad to see you have your October accommodations nailed down. That's progress for sure. And your DL hotel looks super cute. I am sure it will work out perfect for you.

I hope so! Truly I wanted to stay at BWV... or bare minimum not a split stay at the same resort... but nailed down is nailed down!

And, yes, points are meant to be spent. :thumbsup2

You should see my spreadsheet. I definitely won't have the trouble of needing to bank points. :rotfl:

Jumping in here just to say everyone is different. Experiment with what works for you and the only way to know is to try. Me, I do not eat a thing before running unless the run will be after 11am or even noon. But that's me. I generally do not eat breakfast, instead I eat a early lunch. To do otherwise on a run or workout day just throws me entirely off.

EXACTLY! What works for one.. may not (or may) work for another. I can't eat a big breakfast, but I do need something before a run.....

I have got to try the coffee thing. I just read today about how someone has it prerace...as a MUST. Cause...well it can get things moving. I just wish that I could play around with it before my race tomorrow.

As for you and your fueling... I am in awe that you are able to do that. I wish I could...but I just need those little nibbles to get me through.

I have a very hard time eating right away afterwards. This is true after any workout. While I know I "should", and I definitely hydrate right away, I typically eat about an hour after and I believe they suggest within 20-30 minutes. Only point being, everyone is different and experimenting is key,

I really struggle with my after too... It is good after races cause they almost make you eat by cramming your hands full with a bananna and food box. (and literally the volunteer medics didn't let us through the shoot at the phm without seeing us open and sip our waters.

Jumping in here too, I read on one of the FB groups today that this is true of all RD tickets, no FP+.

Which is rotten if you ask me but I guess that's the trade off for the great discount.

And... if all you need is that ticket discount (like what I will need in august) then it is perfect. I just think a package with a good discount could be a better way to go...

My TA will be watching for the public offers. I don't think we would do FD, but if there is a decent hotel discount we could switch. FD is just too much food for us and I don't think we'd get much benefit. But then again it is FREE, so maybe I should explore.

Right now we have the RD hotel discount at POFQ for 5 nights and rack rate for 2. I have paid $200 deposit for the package, which includes the 7-day PH at RD discount. Plus I have paid ~$200 for the first of the last two nights at POFQ.

My TA is great, BTW. I highly recommend her. She was able to book for us through RD. I could (and have in the past done) do all the planning and booking, but we used her for our May trip last year and I just like the little perks she gives us like itinerary, etc. She will also book our ADRs and watch for further discounts, etc. So I don't have to worry about any of that. She is a Disboards member and I met her because I was following a few of her TRs and PTRs a few years ago, and she's from my hometown (Memphis) so we have some friends in common. Later, she was hired by this travel agency, has gotten excellent training (much on-site at Disney) and loves her job. I fully trust her.

Anyway, I guess we'll see. I have asked my TA to let me know the price difference for full price park hoppers. I know the price for them - she already quoted that, but I can't pull the price out of our RD package to compare.

Thanks so much for the info and response here. I guess we'll see what happens.

I just checked my pricing. Our PHs that we have right now are $619.84. Current rate for 7 day PHs is 817.92. I have to decide if it's worth $100 each to be able to book FP+ ahead of time. Seems not to be at this point.

It is lovely having a TA you really trust. I have a DISer we've used, mostly for my family and it's nice to let someone else deal with it all. They may not save you any money but a good one will break even with what you'd have paid anyway and they do take care of a lot of the headaches!

You are still waitlisted, right?

You should see my spreadsheet. I definitely won't have the trouble of needing to bank points. :rotfl:

I hear you there! I pulled it off a couple of times but seriously can't see that happening for years again.

EXACTLY! What works for one.. may not (or may) work for another. I can't eat a big breakfast, but I do need something before a run.....

And I'm the opposite, to me anything before, even half a banana would really mess me up. Jeff can't either, at a mimimum he needs 2 hours after eating before he can run and preferably it's a lot more. So our evening runs are on pretty empty tummies too.

I have got to try the coffee thing. I just read today about how someone has it prerace...as a MUST. Cause...well it can get things moving. I just wish that I could play around with it before my race tomorrow.

Depends on what you want to get moving :rotfl: Yes, it does do that. Which is why I have my coffee at least 1 hour before the actual run if possible. I do think that helps me avoid um, other issues, while out. As long as the timing is right. Coffee first thing in the am for me is a MUST but that's a daily thing, not limited to running for sure. It's as much routine as anything.

As for you and your fueling... I am in awe that you are able to do that. I wish I could...but I just need those little nibbles to get me through.

I don't think it's anything to be in awe of, just different needs for different folks. What you are doing works for you, one isn't better than the other. I have different worries. I worry that I won't attempt it at the 15k (ok who am I kidding, I know I probably won't) and then if that goes ok I'll be less inclined to attempt it for the half. But that's a lot more time and I know I "should" do something so ugh. We will just see how training goes I guess, especially once we get into the heat.

Part of it is the "where to carry it" issue for me. Generally speaking I have one pocket to work with and it's holding my phone (and sometimes a car key). can't get in and out of that without issues really. I have zero interest in wearing a belt and as you know, can't put the phone in an armband. Ok I could but it's not worth the skin irritation. My new capri's have extra cool side pockets that I could actually see some fuel maybe working and certainly my handheld water bottle does as well. Except I didn't like running carrying that darn thing, at all. I'd rather get a drink while out at a faucet if needed and know they will have water on race courses. Come august, my go to shorts which is what I'll likely wear...back in that one pocket situation. So we will see.

Silly question though, sparkle skirts, I know you wear your shorts under, and I know some have them built in, is everyone just lifting up their skirts while running to get at stuff in those shorts pockets????

I really struggle with my after too... It is good after races cause they almost make you eat by cramming your hands full with a bananna and food box. (and literally the volunteer medics didn't let us through the shoot at the phm without seeing us open and sip our waters.

No problem on the water, followed by coffee. But food immediately is never on my radar. I need to cool down, preferably shower and change (and have my 2nd cup of coffee while doing so if it's a morning run) and then dig in. or on Saturdays after our workout we have a solid hour, hour and a half of errands before we get back home to eat. I've tried eating a little something right after and...UGH. Nibble is the best I can do. Maybe it's a family thing, Kendall can't eat after a game at all either. She can do a jamba juice or a cocoa but that's about it after a water. She needs a good hour or 2 as well.

Maybe because we consistently eat 1-2 hours after a workout or run that I have a hard time changing it, it's just our routine.

Thanks so much for the info and response here. I guess we'll see what happens.

That sounds like $200 each!!! Honestly, we were able to change FP+ on the fly pretty easily and from what I read you will be able to use FP+ once you get there so really it's only maybe a problem for day 1 or 2 if things are booked up. Still though, $200 each? x how many? Yeah, I would keep those tickets for sure.

If you don't eat that much food, I could see why a room discount would make more sense...and I am sure some will come through.

I am glad you have a good TA. Please don't think for a second I am against TA's in any way shape form. A good one who is on top of things sure could relief a lot of headache.

I think Cynthia mentioned this... but really you shouldn't have trouble booking them on the fly. I can't tell you how many times on the trip in January we changed our reservations. Course, 4 of us have the MDX ap on our phones so that is how we made it so easy. Now... you might have a hard time getting a fp+ reservation for BOG lunch or TSM... but mostly you should be able to get it worked out.

And I am just not sure that you will get a better deal with a public offer (although you might) $100 off of tickets is a pretty sweet deal!

You are still waitlisted, right?

Yes, but... I dont expect it will come through..

I have an easier time with a fairly empty tummy... it is definitely a balancing act for me. Too much and I will feel ill and too little I will.

I need to give myself more time before a run. I seriously need that coffee... before. I have coffee after... but I think getting things moving before a run would be more beneficial. :rolleyes1

I am in awe, because I think it is a good indication just how well your body is working. At least in my mind it is. Seems like it is efficiently using what you need.

Part of it is the "where to carry it" issue for me. Generally speaking I have one pocket to work with and it's holding my phone (and sometimes a car key). can't get in and out of that without issues really. Come august, my go to shorts which is what I'll likely wear...back in that one pocket situation. So we will see.

I like winter runs because of all the pockets I have. Going down in clothing means losing pockets. And it is important for me to know where I can carry things. I can handle holding the water bottle...but that is it.

Silly question though, sparkle skirts, I know you wear your shorts under, and I know some have them built in, is everyone just lifting up their skirts while running to get at stuff in those shorts pockets????

:rotfl: I do if I have anything in a pocket underneath. At the donald, I didn't have pockets under my sparkle skirt... probably won't in August either. (is it bad I want to wear the same skirt?) Then I will just pull fuel out of my water bottle band..

No problem on the water, followed by coffee. But food immediately is never on my radar. After today's race there was all kinds of food and for the first time, I was just meh... usually I am all about the post race goodies.

Maybe because we consistently eat 1-2 hours after a workout or run that I have a hard time changing it, it's just our routine.

I think routine plays a part, but I still think there has to be something to how efficient your body is working. Kinda like heart rate... a runners heart rate is routinely slow.... mine is SUPER slow. It doesn't need to beat fast cause it is efficient now at doing its job.
