Not Buying It

We have sailed on the eastern itinerary a few times and we have always docked late at castaway since the ship as so far to go to get there from St. Thomas. I think we weren’t able get off the ship until 11am, on that particular itinerary I do not think a cabana is worth it due to the shorter time to enjoy it. A cabana from 8-5:30 is a decent amount of time 11:00-5:30 not so much.
I agree with this. The first time we had a cabana was on the Eastern itinerary-we docked a bit late, then by the time we made it to the cabana, had lunch, did shopping, headed back to the ship, etc. we didn't spend all that much time in the cabana itself. We decided after that to only do a cabana when we had a nice long day at CC/LC.

So this is common on the Eastern itineraries and Disney knows this? But h*ll would freeze over before they would give a price break on the lost hours at CC?

You can see the times in port on the eastern itinerary when you book that the castaway day has the port time arrival time as 10am with a 4:30 departure. So if they dock at 11 it’s only an hour late. There’s not really any wrong doing by DCL they don’t guarantee anything, especially ports and time in ports. Anytime you book a cruise it’s important to look at how long you will be in the various ports not just where it goes. On other lines when I was looking at Mediterranean cruises some of the ships only stayed in port for 5 hours, that’s just not enough time for me when I would want time to explore.

OK, I do suppose one hour isn't quite as bad then. Those things are just so horrifically expensive. But I am glad for those who do get to score one.
