Turn Down Service at Poly

ITA...but hey, if the OP doesn't like the Poly, so what? I think with the Poly, you either "get it" or you don't. There are people that don't like it because it seems "dark" and "outdated" or they complain that it has a Brady Bunch color scheme. Then you have the people that fixate on the price and then the vacation becomes a mental tallying of if they are getting their money's worth. Any small thing that gets forgotten or it isn't like they've built it up to be gets magnified.

This is why it is so important to do your research and to make up your own mind about where to stay..I think that if you are truly worried about how much the Poly is costing you, then maybe you should pick another resort.

Like Maxiesmom said, the main draw of the Poly for many is the monorail, I happen to like the theming and landscaping too and the laid back feel of the place. And I'm not rich..I work lots of overtime and I'm blessed enough to have a stable job that pays pretty well. Count me in as another person who finds the Poly worth every penny.:goodvibes

Look at it this way, more room at the Poly for the people who appreciate it!:thumbsup2

ENJOY:thumbsup2

I don't know why I guess its just fun to see how upset everyone gets over it;)

:::jumping stomping and kicking thread::::

Won't this thing EVER die?!?!!?!?!!? :lmao:

Quick Vicki get the blow torch and I will get the gasoline

Bon fire anyone?

There are a few bales of hay in the pasture. If someone brings a blow torch..... And this thread....I'm just sayin' we could have a heck of a bonfire. :rotfl2:

And didn't this thread start ages ago????? Enough already. :scared:

Well on May 16 it will have its 1 year Birthday :rolleyes1

any ideas on how we can celebrate with candles?
;)

I think it'll die once the Four Seasons opens and we see what a true on property deluxe resort is like - I also predict life will get a little bit better for everyone staying at a deluxe once they set the new standard.

I for one can't wait to stay there...

(can't believe I'm responding to this thread...)
You are kidding, right? A Four Seasons? Donde esta?

I cannot wait! It's going to be adjacent to what is now the Osprey? golf course in the NE section of their property. The existing golf course will become part of the Four Seasons resort. Should be here in 2012.

And after lurking for a while I had to add something... I've stayed at a few and I can say one thing - they know how to treat a true princess...:cloud9:

“This is an important milestone for a project that will enable our company and our community to further tap into the luxury travel market,” said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort, in a written statement. “Working together for the first time, Walt Disney World Resort and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will create a world-class family resort destination that offers the exceptional service and amenities and one-of-a-kind guest experiences that are the hallmark of both our brands.”

Like I said - if the FS is coming on property, deluxe has to improve its offering to compete. This should hopefully benefit ALL deluxe guests. There is NO way Disney's going to be outdone on their own turf. I expect them to adopt best practices (as is their custom) and for us to enjoy better linens, consistent turn down, and full concierge.

Going back to the OP for a minute...
I'm (most likely) staying at the Contemporary this summer. I can probably get turn-down service free of charge if I ask for it (I'd tip generously)? Do I request this when I check in or on the reservation?

On my recent honeymoon trip, when we were checking in I requested turndown service. The first CM at the concierge desk didn't know what turndown service was. So a few minutes later after we went to our room I returned to the concierge desk and spoke with another CM. Told her that we were in Tahiti and that we would like turndown service each night of our stay. She was happy to honor that request. We received the service 6 out of the 7 nights. It was a nice touch to have but nothing that is necessary for us.

:goodvibes

Bumping for others who wanted turn down service. Please don't turn on me about this:goodvibes.

I am super excited about the Four Seasons! Finally a true Deluxe resort on Disney property!

Sigh...Guess I should just grab a diet coke and some popcorn::

Agreed. I think there should probably be a time limit on threads being revived by the OP, long after interest has waned. It's amazing to me that this thread is still around, given the relatively minute importance of the topic, when compared to some other issues. It's fine if it's a jokey sort of thread for it to kick around. But as long as this thread has been around about a turndown policy that long since could have changed, this is ridiculous. I hope the Poly is never torn down, but it might be someday and people might still be posting on here about lack of turndown service at a non-existent resort!

I've had turn down service at some Disney resorts, and not at others, and I've had it some nights and not on some nights in the same stays at the same resorts. I suppose it's nice to get a mint and a bed corner tucked down, but I never once considered it a diminution of my Disney vacation experience if I didn't get it. :confused3 I'd just as soon people get out of my room once the necessary cleaning has been done.

Sorry, but I think this thread needs a big old lock put on it, and let it die in peace.
